0:48 Melting the butter
1:14 Mixing together wet ingredients
2:57 Mixing in the dry ingredients
4:16 Chopping up the chocolate
5:38 Pouring in the baking dish
7:40 Tasting the blondie
INGREDIENTS
- 2/3 cup unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups light brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 tsp kosher salt
- 4 oz bar semi-sweet chocolate
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13 baking dish and set it aside.
- Melt the butter and set it aside to cool.
- In a large bowl, whisk the eggs until they are smooth. Add the brown sugar and vanilla extract and whisk to incorporate. Then whisk in the slightly cooled melted butter until the mixture is smooth.
- Add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until the batter is just combined with a few dry streaks remaining. There is no need to overmix.
- Cut the chocolate bar into irregular pieces. Add the pieces of cut chocolate, leaving behind the powdery small bits. Pour in the chocolate chips and fold the chocolate into the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. Bake in the preheated 350°F oven until the blondies are golden and a skewer inserted in the middle comes out mostly clean, 25-35 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool for 20 minutes before slicing.

Gosh, he's such a natural. He makes everything he does look fun and easy
Hi Kaleb, speaking of vanilla, Ethan Chlebowski recently did a video with blind tastings and asked the question: is the price of real vanilla beans actually worth it? The takeaway was twofold and yes, vanilla is absolutely essential to the flavor of a baked product. In terms of providing the "aromatic lift" to baked products, then no, real vanilla beans are not essential and imitation vanilla provides the same background flavors. A $10-12 bottle of vanilla extract (not imitation) is what Ethan prefers for other products where the vanilla is front and center, like frostings and custards. Interesting!
I think that he would greatly disagree with you on that as he makes his own and has a very easy recipe to make vanilla extract
@@natalieeubank4533 I agree, artificial vanilla has a chemical taste. I can tell the difference. That's one splurge I always make is to buy REAL vanilla extract =)
I make my own and there’s no comparison between how much better it is and tastes❤
@@wendyfowler1311 Good to know. Claire Saffitz also makes her own real vanilla extract. There must be something to it that I must try!

Thanks for posting such an easy and quick recipe. I am going to make this soon. I like your baking dish a lot what brand is that? Thanks so much!!
Yummy!!! I think the word(s) for the day is “ooey gooey”…count me in!!!❤
Been making a cookie bar similar to this for a while, it's a family favorite. I'm of the edge and corner group too. :)
Beautiful 👍
Amei 😋😋🥰🥰!!
The corners are my favorite, too, and I get them all to myself. My family likes the middle
HA! Exactly! Figure the cook has first choice anyway. 😉
Thanks for this recipe...and just in time because I've been craving chocolate chip cookies but I'll be making these today instead. I don't have a chocolate bar, but I'll just add more chips & probably some chopped pecans.
I know what you did!! You left batter on the off-set spatula...then dipped that in those chocolate crumbs and ATE it!! YUMMM...😋
i'm so glad you don't measure your vanilla with a spoon, but with your heart!
just put them in the oven a bit ago, they smell AMAZING!!(:
hello, I really like to see your dessert recipe...so please share a donut croissant or croissant roll recipe....🙏😄
Looks so delicious. Did you butter your pan?
Not necessary with a ceramic pan like that
It looks very good,. Good cookie work. Can you put some water on the knife when you spread out the dough to avoid to get dough on the knife?
Let them cool then they will slice easier
I just made this exactly to the recipe. It did not look like yours! So I rewatched your video. When I put mine into the dish it was thick and heavy, not runny like yours! And I had difficulty spreading it. I haven’t tasted it yet but it sure doesn’t look like yours.
What do you do with all the food you make?
The butter looks like a whole package of Kerry Gold blocked butter ? Seems like more than 2/3 cup?
Baking these friday to finish the week and start the WEEKEND w/ something sweet and naughty ❤🍫🤫
Forget the yummy 😋 blondies. You look so handsome in that jacket.
Dibs on all the four corners and sides.
Blondies after school....I'm 73 and want to drink with him.
!
Wish had given the recipe.
Idk why it finally hit me why they're called Blondies. 😅
THANK YOU FOR NOT MEASURING THE VANILLA
TWO kinds of chips…life is good. 🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫
