Neither of these bands are ready to face JSU (again for SU). JSU would have to be asleep at the wheel to take an L this weekend. Actually, that’s quite possible because Lord know the song selection can be a hit or miss in Dr. Little’s head sometimes. They’ve been doing fine all season. Hope it holds up. As a former HBCU dancer, I can say that when dancers are allowed to dance outside of the stands like Motion did, it’s an unfair advantage to dancers who are in the stands. It should be a stand routine, not a field show!🤷🏽♀️
when southern cram the bands/ auxiliary in that little space it’s “unfair”. So they have to get on the track, any team who’ve battle them has been on the track; motion just decided to utilize the space to their advantage.

Surely a great battle, SU has the stamina and a deep book but there are some things that should be cleaned up, TXSU has a nice book and they sound crisp, there are also something’s that need to be cleaned up. I give the dub to SU, however, TXSU has gotten better this year compared to last year.
Since middle school us new orleaneans idolized Southern and later on J State but I have to say this is the baddest year for southern as far as togetherness they sloppy bro but they still got the power to get it done
Wait a minute......To suggest The Ocean of Soul "didn't seem to know" the song, "Shame" is a lowdown dirty shame. Mama just don't understand. 😂 Seriously, You can't be for real. They played the f**k out of that song in the 5th Q. It was damn near better than Evelyn's band. Keep in mind, too, the song initially had been taken straight from the band room at TXSU to the Pepsi BOTB field show in Houston. "Shame" became even tighter and crispier this time around from the stands. It even had those little girls on the side bopping. That round should have easily gone to Texas Southern. The song was clean. That said, I understand some of you all simply can't take (or fathom) that SU (once considered the standard) was on the cusp of losing to TXSU back-to-back and is dying a slow death of dominance. Their "exemplary pen" is gone. The ones they have left are "struggle and kitchen sink" type pens. Plus, it takes courage to say sheer mass and power with low vibration-arrangements is SUs new reality - noise pollution. Other schools are here. Pretty soon you all are gonna have to admit that Tyson (or Goliath) is taking "Ls". Sorry. Motion was🔥. I felt Dani's energy. It was palpable and exciting to watch. Motion did not want to let her or themselves down.
Low key...THIS su is true to the su of the 70s and 80s- huge and loud, not much for countermelody and dynamics throughout an arrangement. But you are spot on here. Its funny how Simmons takes the Ocean back to their roots, BEFORE the string mallets in Funk Train and before they ever had bell fronts. He and his staff takes THAT Ocean sound and cleans it up even more. And all of a sudden it's: they tryna be southern...they dont have an identity, they play su cadences(never ever), they cymbals wanna be su(when su got it from Johnny Lane, who never marched for the Ocean or taught them anything 😂) or the big one: they uniform is just like su (because people on here are BLIND AF. Its actually sad. I mean the way they tell it, nobody in music can PLAY. It's all su outplaying everyone when they havent done that ever as a legacy edcept for two or three songs in their entire history.😂

Nah only SU TXSU was that same size last year with a few more …SU blew up like a steroid
Anyway, back to this battle. Uh.. it was decent. Unnecessarily long. Both were sloppy more than I would have preferred, but nothing too egregious.
The only “winner” was every fan that made it through this slugfest lol.
KB so you just gonna not deduct 3 out of 4 runs the Trumpets played but give the Ocean a deduction for I part 🤔 sounds sketchy to me bruh
5-4 TxSU. SU swept the last few. Youre right about the fatigue factor. I gave TxSU rounds 2 and 5. Im with you on the others. Battle coulda went either way. Props to both bands.
I agree with you about the loud.
I Wished Texas Southern Would’ve Played That Gangsta Lovin Because That went to wasted during the game with the damn DJ Playing Over Them.
That last dragon song was 🔥 by SU
Its just amazing to me how the hate SU get, yet most bands try hard AF to sound like them....😂😂😂 SU power and clarity that is what I want from a band.
I dont get how SU has 40 tubas and sound like 20, yet Jackson has 20 and sound like 40....
Jackson does not sound like 40 please stop the reaching …dawg team sounds average at best this year
@@honestsagittarius4566and the golden stallions sound below average but I get what ur saying dawg team doesn’t sound like they used to in 2019 they not as dominant anymore
Some of the stuff that you’re calling skating or muddyness can be attributed to how the parts are written…it’s marching band..every single gap/space isn’t going to be filled perfectly
🤔
I sho be watching Ayo Dezz channel she give good points for HBCU dancers
Bruh, she's the truth frfr 💪🏾💪🏾
Good reaction KB. I gotta disagree with the first round tho lol. Now about this rock the boat arrangement 😮💨 percussion really worked that pocket.
Somebody just have to say it... There is such a thing too big...SU...
More people, more possibility for errors and the Crispy sound is lost... We are just loud... C'mon man... Doc kept it tight...
Now I know why... We have officially crossed the line "by" 10 tubas, 4 bass drums, 4 cymbals, 30 trumpets, etc...
Clean it up SU... MORE ISN'T BETTER...
i am sorry, southern did not win this battle
Personally I score it 4-5. SU masks their lack of phasing, Dynamics and articulation with volume and middle brass power but both Bands did really good and shoutout to the Bruhs AEA 🤟🏾
As a former HBCU dancer, I can say that when dancers are allowed to dance outside of the stands like Motion did, it’s an unfair advantage to dancers who are in the stands. It should be a stand routine, not a field show!🤷🏽♀️
I definitely agree but, TSU has over 22 girls so their is no room in the stans with rhe band.
I agree however Motion has been dancing out the stands for 2 yrs now..
when southern cram the bands/ auxiliary in that little space it’s “unfair”. So they have to get on the track, any team who’ve battle them has been on the track; motion just decided to utilize the space to their advantage.
Only problem with that is , Southern crams all the visiting bands up in that corner so TX took advantage of the disadvantage lol
@@Shayshay830 I would have too🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
Thank you !!! . I was waiting on you to give your opinion on this battle. Thank you for being honest I agree with you as I listen to both bands they both had some issues. But I like both bands cause B Simmons over there miss him. But glad you came on cause all these people gave there predictions were just butt kisser who they liked.
Surely a great battle, SU has the stamina and a deep book but there are some things that should be cleaned up, TXSU has a nice book and they sound crisp, there are also something’s that need to be cleaned up. I give the dub to SU, however, TXSU has gotten better this year compared to last year.
Man TSU back do to the new band director from the Southern university band factory. TSU is back
Bro it’s called dynamics everything doe’s supposed to played at full volumes
That corner kb
ready or not
Txsu has a great book. They made SU work
Southern is just too much bruh lol
Can you react to PV vs SU 5th & 0 quarter please.
Since middle school us new orleaneans idolized Southern and later on J State but I have to say this is the baddest year for southern as far as togetherness they sloppy bro but they still got the power to get it done
This battle could’ve went either way depending on your preference 😂😂 I had 5-4 SU
From other videos I would say that it's a Tyyyyyyyyy..... "But"??
I agree with the inconsistency of the first song that Texas Southern played.
KB that’s what that Do
When they switch it up people was saying they not be southern 🤷🏾♂️😂 these dudes can’t win for loosing
For my ear SU plays a few counts TOO fast on Most of their Selections.
Ocean won this battle.🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊
Wait a minute......To suggest The Ocean of Soul "didn't seem to know" the song, "Shame" is a lowdown dirty shame. Mama just don't understand. 😂
Seriously, You can't be for real.
