*YESSSSS!* I'm going to do my part by not putting my studded tires on my car - that's always a helpful for encouraging the snow 🌨️❄️🌨️❄️🌨️ Rest well, Michael. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Hey! I’m a Meteorologist turned Anchor at the CBS and ABC affiliates in Bend, OR. While I’m now only filling in on weather for TV, I am a backcountry XC ski addict and wanted to tell you I REALLY appreciate your videos. You’re doing all the research that I don’t have time to do anymore! .Keep up the great work! Thinking healthy thoughts!
We've been seeing the wintry forecasts on our weather app for days now, we all know where to turn for clarity and understanding! Once again Michael you have delivered, thank you.
Thank you Michael! As already said, we will need you next 2 weeks so take good care. Rest, water, broth, oh and a new secret weapon: Olbas cough drops from Switzerland, from a local vitamin shop.
Your channel popped up on my youtube, and what a great supprise. First time I have seen an American actually mention weather in Canada, especially BC. You do a so much better job than our Canadian weather reports and reporters, they are quite useless. I often have to go to the US National weather service to get an acurate weather forecast as I live near the border of BC and Washington right were the Columbia river enters the US. Enviroment Canada and our other weather outlets just miss our area with acurate forecasts. You are doing a great job. I am now subscribing.
What a rarity to have this during an El Nino, as you mentioned. Here I thought we would have a snow-free winter in Victoria and the flowers and trees would keep blooming this month! Take care of yourself, Michael, hope you recover from the bug.
Feel better Michael!!!! We are counting on you to keep us updated on this polar air mass. Fingers crossed we get lots of snow but nobody gets injured or killed. Can't wait to try out my new Tempest with winter precip.
No lowland snow and ice, thank you. I’d be all for it if we had the appropriate infrastructure, but several years has shown we cannot deal with snow in the PDX area - takes forever to get roads cleared.
Take it easy Michael, definitely see a doc about your bacterial sinus infection asap! I had one that caused me to lose my smell and taste for 9 years because I tried treating the bacterial infection myself.
Thank you for your support and your dedication but I hope that you will not put yourself in jeopardy because we don’t want you to end up in the hospital. You are so amazing to your viewers and I appreciate you sharing your knowledge but please keep yourself safe and healthy okay 👍 🙏⛄️
I'm all for gobs of snow in the mountains for skiers and water supply, but with all due respect to the lowland snow lovers, I prefer it stay up there. To paraphrase Harry Wappler...snow up there, rain down here, that's just how it's supposed to be. But like him, I've always loved the rain and rarely tire of it. He and I would have had a grand time outside splashing in puddles! 😁
Quick story. My parents liked and listened to Harry. We had lived in WA for about 3 yrs and Harry did his forecast and said no snow in sight. I went outside, looked at the sky and ran back in saying, it's going to snow!!! My parents said, No its not, Harry just said it wouldn't. About 5 mins later it started 🌨! Back before all the pollution and such the sky would turn a bright periwinkle blue when it was going to snow. The night sky still changes but now its more of a muddy grayish purple. It's no where near as vibrant as it used to be.....
@@earthmama9597 I have a friend who was born and raised in Fairbanks, she loved it and wants to relocate back there someday. Harry Wappler was the best. With a nod to Steve Pool, I think Harry was Seattle's favorite TV weather guy. I'm 55 so I grew up with both of them.
Tee hee!! Snow is Very Fun to watch!! That you said arctic air mass with the glee reserved for Grreat anomalies!! Squeel! The crud. I had it Thanksgiving, only now bout a-ok so, long planning is called for. Thus my suggestion of vitamin mineral-rich foods, w collard greens. I rarely have a need to go to the doctor. I only get the basic blood draws and basic maintenance stuff for my age. I'm in my mid-sixties and I very rarely get sick/ill. I had what you're dealing with about 4-5 weeks ago. It hit fast and hard, fever of 102, stuffed sinuses, chest congestion, headache, low energy. Basically feeling like sh*t very fast. I slammed vits B multi, A,C, D, K, Potassium, Magnesium, Zinc. Something like 3x a day for vit C & Zinc, 2x a day for everything else. My fever was gone in 4 hrs, by next morning I was substantially better. I was good to go in a week, my sinuses took a while longer to quit having to blow it. What is a doctor going to do for you that you can't do for yourself ? They rarely prescribe antibiotics for a cold anymore, because viruses are becoming immune/resistant because of over prescribing antibiotics. They're likely going to tell you to take Advil and Tylenol and get rest. BFD, you can do that and so much more. C'est la vie... Best Wishes. 😎👍
Hope you get better Michael. I've had an ear infection for over a month, not going away and messing my sinuses all up. Anyone remember the winter storm we had in 94 or early 95 in the Willamette valley? That was really fun
My own experience with nagging hacking cough was that taking Vitamin D can be quite helpful. Not a cure, but quite helpful. Learned that during COVID19 days. Good Luck to you. I really enjoy your weathercasts.
Good idea if you’re on the east side of the Island or down In Victoria you could, see Sea Affect snow as the cold air crosses the Georgia Straight , Remember years ago when Victoria got a huge dumping in the same situation ,
@@squamishfish yup, I remember the snow storm of 96/97 well. We have very similar weather patterns this year as we did then. Christmas was wet and green and then just after Christmas snowmageddon! Fingers crossed, I hope we get a ton of snow!

I think officially about 118cm fell in that short period but the snow drifts were pretty extreme.
Nightly lows of -25°C in Central BC by the end of this week. I’m looking forward to actual winter weather as winter was canceled for all of December, most of Canada saw a green Christmas in 2023.
Best way to repel Arctic air is to spend as much money as possible preparing for it. Buy a new set of the most expensive studded tires you can find. A couple of top-of-line Honda generators (plus one of their heavy duty snow blowers).
I got sick on the 28th of December Lost my voice and still have the cough and congestion. You think it's getting better and then it comes back. Easier to sleep during the day sometimes. Husband sick on Christmas and still coughing and fatigued. Been napping after work. Virus could last a full 2 weeks but the coughing could last up to a month after words. Drink lots of liquid. Not sure what you think but I’ve felt models historically minimize the effect of the Rockies. I’ve seen these extended forecasts often fizzle as the cold air stays east
Well I’m in India right now where it’s been 90 degrees and very humid. If the cold snap comes true, when I get home it will be quite the abrupt climate change next week!

LoL 😂
Gotta wait as late as possible to put my snow tires on!! Can't scare it away!
YES! I'll help too.... I'll head over Snoqualmie without chains or snow tires THAT should Really do it.😊
Yes, I'll contribute by not loading up the snowmobile or picking up my skis from tune. That'll definitely bring it! 😂😂
