Spent many happy weekends fishing the main lake and the lower pools in the early 80’s. Always loved it when trout was stocked to beat the close season ;). Love that this lake now has the opportunity to come back to its former glory. I moved to Canada back in the 90’s but miss all the fisheries and local clubs I used to match fish back in the day. I always remember one old guy would fish off the stream bank, in the weeds, using gallons of layers mash and flaked maize. He caught some massive bream on feeder tactics.
Your right Joe I used to always fish there early 1980 s weds open matches ,it was rock hard tiny amounts of bait u dare not fill it in ,it was £3 quid all day ,he used to put a trout in so u could fish it during close season ,it was solid with anglers ,maybe that's why it was so hard ,Eric Taylor bought of ashurst he give £60,000 for it and which was a fortune early 80 s and he made his money selling ,broken biscuits on bury market ,broken biscuits didn't know they was a demand 😳
We used to attend a lot of fires at that and, trust me, it stunk even more when it was on fire. I haven't fished there for a heck of a long time so I might give it a go on your recommendation.
Welcome back it's been a while since we last saw you, shame you had to give up your blogs on PA waters. I fished Pilsworth last Wednesday and I agree with everything you said about the lakes, hopefully I will be back again on Wednesday to enjoy another day out on the bank.
Fished there as a teenager in the mid 70s had some good carp and tench . Always thought it had potential to be a great fishery. Was born in Oldham so know the history . Still carp fishng but in the USA now.
Used to fish the weds opens ,when Eric Taylor was the owner ,and it was rock hard ,you could use two hooks in those days ,and never ever fill it in kiss of death ,the ponds at the bottom even harder lighting fast bites ,I think it was open even in close season ,so was well fished ,🐟
Nice little vid, I used to fish here in the mid 80’s and I loved the first peg. I used to get them going on the top among the Reed beds and tempt them out into open water. I’ve been down once or twice for a look around and had a couple of chats with Imran and it seems he has some good idea’s. I’ve not walked around now as I have mobility issues but I plan on fishing it again soon and hopefully I’ll be able to get a peg close to car park
Hey Carl Firstly great post. Was looking at stuff on pilsworth started watching and realised it was you. Hope you and the family are well. It’s been a while since Chaddy Park! Steve Davies
I tried to nip on pilsworth on Monday. Didn’t realise it was sold on and fenced off. How you get access? They’re coded ain’t they? Also how do I get contact details for imran?
I know it had been for sale for years, previous owner put the new bank in on the big lake, when did new owner take over ? And is he planning to put any new stock in Carl?
Fishery i used to visit owner blocked of public acces as he bought it thought public could not walk around ponds lakes, after a year trying to stop them he now as had to remove gate wire, as theres a sty local counsill bylaws told him got to remain public footpath, imran got it right managed to stop public access but how long for,
You know theirs also a great fisheries not far from pilsworth in Middleton.....GJ fisheries who have been very busy also improving the the fish stocks they have over numerous lakes on their card, and also improving the areas around the lakes. Well worth a look, maybe you could even do a vlog from their like this one on pilly.........

Remember those match fishing pegs well, and the trough of doom round the left side. Are the mill ponds still part of the fishery down the bottom end ?
Looks like a great fishery I'm sure it will come on leaps and bounds with the New owner its a good size as well I really like the look of it 🎣👍👍
It just Might do

Hello stranger. Good to see you mate 👍👍😁
Hi Mike, resend me again
Hi good to see you back, could you tell me do ya have to pair the actor boat every time you use it thanks
No just use it.
Fished there about 10 years ago. Loads of lads turned up on next peg and got pissed up and pilled up. Place is a dive 😂
Hence why it’s important to show it’s being altered massively now 👉🏻🎉
@@Carlfishing its not the scenery that needs changing. It's the rif raf that go on it
Looks good.
Can we get to it in a regular car now without ripping the sump off?
Yes indeed
@@Carlfishing Brilliant, will give it another try then cheers

No idea but might have now
@@Carlfishing its all good went months ago portaloo
Owners got any intentions of stocking the lake up?
Who knows

Public access isn’t always a good thing.. litter
Has he sorted the road down to the lake out its a nightmare on the cars suspension👎🎣🎣😏
On the list as he’s got some big machines using it at the moment so the lane will be sorted after the machinery has completed the work required.

Nice insight into what’s been going on at a good local water Carl. Things can only improve by the work that’s being done 👍🏻👍🏻
