    I don't do anything CLOSE to this level of artistry. I incidentally ended up here due to a jewelry-making quandary. I became immediately enthralled and, with delight and surprise, watched the entirety of the video. I have become absolutely fascinated!

    Go figure, I've been working through youtube on how best to form a ring and sure enough you've got it covered in this video. Your roller looks awesome but likely a little expensive - I might have to build a small one myself. Thanks Kevin!

    I passed on a slip roll that size years ago and still regret it. :) Thanks for the video.

    how would you form a ring like that but add a slight angle, exactly what is used for wooden barrel making? Hoops

    • @KevincaronSculpture
      @KevincaronSculpture  11 місяців тому +1

      I wo0uld use a slip roller to make this hoop. Just adjust the roller to have a little twist to it and you should be good to go.

    Nice roller ,I usually cut my material longer and use a metal or cardboard template of my radius and keep rolling it until it fits my template.

      Measure diameter of the radius and times it by π

    Another great video . Thanks. Was kinda waiting for you to give the formula for finding the length of rod for a certain diameter circle. 3.1416 x diameter = length of rod needed. Anyhoo,,,,,, was getting ready to try a ring roller to make a birdfeeder hanger and don't have a clue on how,, then I got a notification on my subscribe list. Perfect timing for me. Thanks again. Informative and entertaining .

    I've made a few nice rings drawing it round tube stock, the key is bend the stock from as far away as possible from the tube. this way the stock forms a uniform curve. just take your time

      I do that and also sacrifice the first inch of bar stock

    Hello Kevin,
    Thanks for this informative video.
    But could you please tell how to minimize that flat portion or stock required?

    • @KevincaronSculpture
      @KevincaronSculpture  5 років тому

      flip it around and run it through the slip roll again. Or just smooth it out on the anvil.

      @@KevincaronSculpture l add 2 inches to the length, that leaves 1 inch of flat on each end after it's rolled. Then cut off the flats and weld.

    how do you make a ring out of flat stock about 1/8 thick by about 1 1/4 wide???

    • @KevincaronSculpture
      @KevincaronSculpture  3 роки тому

      If you have a slip roll that is the machine you need to use. If not, find "something" about the right size like a rim from a car, and bend the stock around that. If not too big, you might try several hose clamps hooked together and them to round out you stock.

    Hi Kevin! What's the max size stock you can bend with that machine?

    • @KevincaronSculpture
      @KevincaronSculpture  3 роки тому +1

      It is rated to 16 gauge. I have shaped 1/4 by 1/4 steel a lot. Have done 1/8th steel by 5 inch wide with no problem. 1/8th inch by 6 was a struggle. Ring roller can handle about 3/8 hollow steel.

    Kevin, What is a good (and cheap) ring roller for a guy to make rings for the garden and for plant hanging and stuff like that. After I get the roller that you suggest, I will follow up with a question regarding an entry level welding machine for someone with absolutely no welding experience. I do have a tiny bit of Mill experience and love that Bridgeport that you have. Also love your videos! Thank You, Sir!!

    • @KevincaronSculpture
      @KevincaronSculpture  7 років тому

      You can start with something from harbor freight. After a while you would upgrade to something better.
      For a cheap but affordable welder to get started, i would look at the powermts 251 from Everlast.
      I hear AHP is coming out with a 3 way machine buti have not heard of a eta yet.
