Are people that stupid to realize why he wanted that guys phone? No it wasn't because he needed an iPhone. It had to be something his sponsors would drop him to the point he assaulted the guy.
Let's go with the story that it was over a "phone" and not a straight-up drug deal. Obviously, there was something on that phone he didn't want to get out. Be it messages, photos, or videos. Sex or drug-related are my guesses.

I'm doubting anything is going to happen. Dude posted pictures and had 0 damage on him. No defensive wounds, nothing. All these people making declarations about what he did without any evidence are wild, though. Worst case scenario I see is he'll settle and stay out of jail. I don't know if he did it or not, but I know police aren't medical professionals and can't make a diagnosis like the preliminary one they did.
Man will have his day in court, at which point we'll find out the truth. Until then, chill.
