This is such a throwback for me. My family and I left the country in late 2016, so a lot of the scenery is still similar to what I saw before leaving. The cars, the sound, the skyline... I love that city.
I've been to Saigon a number of times and this video- the sights and sounds- takes me back there. Especially as I'm watching on a hot Melbourne day. It shows what I explain to people here- all these motor scooters weaving around each other at intersections.
Great production quality, Troy. You have a talent for narration & video. Sights and sound capture the hustle & bustle of the ever-growing metropolis. I spent my early childhood in the 10th District and about a 1.5 years working there between 2003-2007. Hard that it's approaching a decade since I've been back, but I'm planning to take a father-daughter trip sometime at the end of this year. She'll be about six -- too young to complain about the heat and pollution.
Thanks for a good quality video. It shows us the good and the bad of Saigon. There are many big buildings and also there are many poor houses on a canal. I love to see a real life of ordinary people.
With the sheer amount of motor bikes on the streets of Saigon, people are surprisingly restraint from the horns. I watched a couple videos in India and the amount of honking drove me nuts,
great video man. i havent been back for a few years and i miss vietnam so much but more so where i am. also, if i could explore the whole saigon like you that would be awsome.
Great vid! But you forgot to do the techno sounds erupting from every night club advertising during the day & from every large corner electronics store... :)
First time I ever went to Vietnam I hated all the commotion that was going on, mostly the big busses zooming by with their horn. After a month just dreading it! I got back to Canada and miss it a lot! Hahah
Yes love how you promote vietnam as being the best country in the world to live because it is true iam going to retire there i already have bought a house in saigon looking
One word to describe the sounds of Saigon, cacophony. The cacophony is a nuisance at first but is slowly digested to become sounds distinctive of Saigon. From the perpetual honking of horns to oblivious chattery and laughter of lady vendors, the nuances of Saigon are dearly missed.
When I was there last summer I really wanted to go walking around. But the traffic was just too much. Now I see there is a video of a man titled 'Waling in Ho Chi Minh City. I have to look at it. Maybe he has the heart of a lion. Just crossing the street there can be nerve wrecking with its constant traffic especially when you arrive at the big roundabouts. Maybe next time I go back I can drink some chamomile tea to calm my nerves then attempt such a walking trek.
i know you don't like to walk, but you should do a 30minute...continuous as you can walking through a district(s) of saigon and just let the raw sounds come through...dont talk or anything...use a handcam stabilizer for your camera...i think it would be interesting....just walk straight and turn if needed.
2:35 there are these steps leading down to the water at high tide people go down and hang their ass over the water to crap, I had a painting of it made on bui vien.
Troy Nguyen, Yes, this time a year you will rarely see flood because it has very little rain. I am talking about the summer. During this time you will see a lot more rains. All your videos are great.
serious question man, have you run into any bastards trying to steal your camera when you film? about to head there but not sure if i should bring my DSLR
+taun p You got ripped off sadly. The only legit taxi companies are mai linh and vinasun and they are lots of fakes. Some taxi driver tried to scam us with a boxed meter but we bolted at the first available junction.
I just came back from Vietnam about a week ago, and I can honestly say that I'm starting to miss it already.
This is such a throwback for me. My family and I left the country in late 2016, so a lot of the scenery is still similar to what I saw before leaving. The cars, the sound, the skyline... I love that city.
Just got home from Vietnam, miss it so much... thank you so much for uploading this!

Wow, thanks for amazing job.
Great video, Troy. Nice shots and good camera work.
1:50 As an American, I find the traffic flow at intersections a work of art
great video man. i havent been back for a few years and i miss vietnam so much but more so where i am. also, if i could explore the whole saigon like you that would be awsome.
You are getting better at capturing what is essential, I see the Saigon the way I love but also hate. keep at it.
Such a cool concept for this video!!! Like!!!!!

Great vid! But you forgot to do the techno sounds erupting from every night club advertising during the day & from every large corner electronics store... :)
I still miss it all...
This video is telling me about the song "The rhythm of the falling rain in Saigon."
First time I ever went to Vietnam I hated all the commotion that was going on, mostly the big busses zooming by with their horn. After a month just dreading it! I got back to Canada and miss it a lot! Hahah

I love it😍
Those two old fellas a 6:00 pulling up chairs on the footpath and having a chat and coffee. Classic.

What camera did you use? love the quality and sound
(You mind sharing the make/model of your camera, Troy?)

Are there any restrictions on tourists riding scooter?
Hey Troy, If there is a chance please filming the Saigon Nuo'c Ngap (Flood due to the heavy rain in the Saigon City).
+Mike Mai Was this recent. I've been here the last few weeks and haven't seen anything too bad.
Troy Nguyen, Yes, this time a year you will rarely see flood because it has very little rain. I am talking about the summer. During this time you will see a lot more rains. All your videos are great.
Mike Mai I filmed a lot of flooding around the country on my recent trip up north. Just uploading it now.
Cool! Thank you very much. You're great guy.
nice
serious question man, have you run into any bastards trying to steal your camera when you film? about to head there but not sure if i should bring my DSLR

+Squats n' Oats damn I don't doubt you but last year the hotel charged me 600-700k F me. Lol
+taun p You got ripped off sadly. The only legit taxi companies are mai linh and vinasun and they are lots of fakes. Some taxi driver tried to scam us with a boxed meter but we bolted at the first available junction.
What in the heck was that man's head doing at 4:27? Across the street in the blue shirt.
