To me the missing piece of the City Connect is the connection to the City or Region. Look at Seattle's, a tribute to Milwaukee and some black pants doesn't really connect to anything in the blackout area that spans from Utqiagvik to Bend and Helena to Haida Gwaii. The mountain on the patch isn't even distinctly Rainer or Baker or Denali, it's just clip art of a snowy peak. I think for these City Connect uniforms to work they need to do three things (some of them you already covered):
1. Hire a local artist(s) to design the main elements of the uniform. Give more local flavor to the designs and a face to this version of your favorite team.
2. Regionally sync the designs. For example, the AL/NL West are all getting Indigenous artists, The AL/NL Central are all getting famous street artists, and the AL/NL East are all getting the best of Marvel and DC to design their uniforms. Then they switch it up the next year to different themes.
3. Donate a certain percentage of the sales revenue for the jersey to a local charity that matches the theme and is connected to the local artist. That way each jersey is actually connected to the city and the team gets to look charitable to multiple communities.
I like your idea to have both teams wear their City Connects and force every team to do one. That's what I'm hoping the charity angle will do, force everyone to play along. Great Video!

The Mariners and the Angles have the only city connects that don’t make me say, “lol wtf were they thinking?” The Yankees have the right idea imo.

@@Victorico13 "honoring" a team that is still playing is a really lame thing to do and made me ask what they were thinking. The Brewers are the Pilots, just like the Thunder are the Sonics. Plus the Pacific Northwest has had many color schemes across its baseball history, why use the one that had one winning season? Why not "honor" the Seattle Rainers from the open classification period of the PCL too? Or the Tacoma Tigers? Or the Portland Mavericks? Or the Alaska Goldplanners? I don't understand why they'd choose to honor a team that's currently playing in Milwaukee rather than anything else from the century plus of baseball history in their blackout area.

Teams in the same market should wear both their City Connects whenever they play each other (e.g. Cubs vs. White Sox, Dodgers vs. Angels, Orioles vs. Nationals, etc).
I think they should be required to link in some way to the team’s brand. The Phillies don’t sync on anything. If you could watch a whole game highlight package and not be able to identify the team from the visual, it’s a branding fail.

8:09 I'm definitely biased, but I certainly feel the Diamondbacks simplicity for their CC with going with the desert/hispanic theme fits quite well, and many fans enjoy the branding of Serpientes

I find it ridiculous that the Yankees will let players wear “durag’s” under their hats while in uniform, but at the same time worry about facial hair and being too good for city connect jerseys. 🤷🏻♂️
If they’re gonna continue with this City Connect travesty, I’d rather they bring back Turn The Clock Forward night! That is at least fun and night eye rolling.
Since Nike makes the jerseys of 3 of the 4 major sports leagues and they partner with Fanatics. I know CC is not going away. Maybe they could connect all the teams of the city with the same colors, like Pittsburgh. This would also help me know which NBA team I’m watching. If every baby blue and red team were from Chicago, I would know I were watching a team from Chicago.
