Firefly wants to die as Firefly and not Sam but is forced to die 3 times as Sam (I think I dunno haven't played that far yet) and Blade used to be a short-life-species that wanted to die as Yingxing and now is forced to be unable to die.
I also like how Firefly doesn't go like "Oh you're lucky you're immortal bla bla bla" but instead doesn't wish for that either because she knows how that doesn't work and how Blade would've rather died a death as Yingxing (idk I'm interpreting a lot but I love these two aaaa they're so similar but also so different. Hoyoverse never misses with their character dynamics I swear and I hope we get to see these two interact some more in the future)
I like how a connecting theme between the stelaron hunters is that they all wanna achieve being normal somehow

Question so is firefly and Sam are they non-binary or is Sam a girl? or is gender not really mentioned cause I'm kind of confused on that aspect
No, Firefly is female.
Sam is another case. Kafka and Blade have refferred to it as male, which might be a mistranslation. Iirc, Sam uses neutral pronouns in CN, which made some languages have to guess. But anyways, it's just Firefly's mech suit.

Sam has heels and speaks like a guy, so it could be binary
