I would think the Classic being gone it will effect Fleet sales.

Clearly the europeans hate American cars and customer tastes. Why would Stellantis buy Chrysler division when they obvious didn't understand the market here?

Looks like they understand the US market just fine- Europeans have been in control of Chrysler since 1998 whether it be Daimler(who clearly didn't understand how to build low-end vehicles like Dodge or Chryslers), or Fiat(who's European CEO was responsible for ALL of the great modern Muscle Cars/high-performance vehicles launched by Chrysler, or now Stellantis (Fiat/PSA)- who clearly wanted the US operations solely for Jeep and RAM. It seems like its us who don't understand what the objective is at Stellantis. Dodge and Chrysler were going to come along so long as they didn't start to drag the company- they were a bonus if they could be transitioned to EV brands bolstering the companies "0 carbon" initiatives, BUT Dodge & Chry were NEVER a lynchpin in the overall plan. Jeep and RAM are the stars of the show in Stellanis' US market plans- just like they were under FCA.
If the transition goes wrong for Dodge and Chrysler, they'll just be folded up and liquidated. STLA will move forward with their plans for the core money-makers of the company no matter the outcome for Dodge & Chrysler. Tavares said as much in 2022, I guess nobody paid attention to him outlining all the brands had 10 years to cut the fat, get their product lineups fleshed-out, and develop competitive new products that would sell at volumes high enough to drive profitability- not niche halo cars that cost the company billions in emissions credits purchased from Tesla over the 2011-2023 period(no matter how great they may have been).
It's routinely ignored that Dodge no longer had any major sellers that could offset the halo cars poor efficiencies with large sales volumes of fuel-efficient vehicles the likes of which Ford and GM have in spades. Likewise both those companies continue to develop their V8 engine families. Dodge and Chrysler as brands are also by comparison to Ford, or Chevrolet division, broke. Lack of funds is what forced Dodge and Chrysler to sell the severely outdated L platform for nearly 20 years. Mis-management during the FCA years combined with lack of funding allocation to new product R&D led to the dried-up product pipeline at Dodge and Chrysler. This is the SOLE reason STLA did not develop a new V8 engine family.
Really that doesn't matter all that much in the overall picture- the 3.6 V6 cars made up over 60% of sales EVERY YEAR, with the remaining percentages split between the 5.7, 6.2, and 6.4 V8's (the 5.7 being the volume seller of that group). Enthusiasts just don't buy enough cars to swing the needle to force STLA to continue to produce them. Ok, my novel is fin.

@@Alan-tr5uj We will have to disagree. Mercedes did a lot of good with Chyrsler - like the old E class platform that was used for the 300/Charger/Challenger models. But Fiat never had any new models that outsold the outgoing models. Not one! Stellantis has been driven from the US market several times in the guise of Peugeot and Citroen, Alfa and Fiat were brought back by Sergio but have not sold in large numbers. Stellantis thinks the Hornet is what we need, the US consumers don't. I think I hit a nerve or your answer wouldn't have been so long.

Every lot I have seen is full to overflowing as they over produced for too long hoping for higher sales, I guess. The classic was for sure at the end of its run and really a fleet sale item which is at cost usually to put the name out. We did it when I was in automotive industry all the time.

I'm not sure why anyone would vote based on what their union tells them anyways. We should all get informed and make up our own minds. Oh, and we should all be dreadfully opposed to any party, group or individual that works towards and succeeds in limiting free speech. The pressure placed on social media platforms to shut down free speech is disgusting.

How many Classic's pick up truck were they selling per year and did sales decline recently ?

Jimmy they were selling a lot more than the 9564 Toyota BZ4x but the whole carbon tax and the credits from electric through out of whack the nature of things. It's an unatural and perverse auto market at the moment.

Lots are full of them in the mix pretty badly. They announced the shutdown as a temporary to adjust inventories and anyone in the UAW or most management has seen these and been laid off many times over the years. It part of the up and down auto world. Hopefully all the lets sue make Stellantis enough to just shut it down and eliminate the brand as it is a loser worldwide and that is auto world.

Even if the UAW didn’t get a raise, MSRP would still be going up. Automakers are still extremely profitable regardless of new contract obligations.

Approximately 10-15 hours of direct labor are required to assemble a typical passenger vehicle.
Please note that this is a rough estimate and can vary significantly based on the vehicle's complexity, the specific assembly plant, and production efficiency.

@@AmericanGTS it is, but at any point in the USA. 38% plus of the American GDP is tied up in intellectual property rights so imagine if a vehicle were to cost almost 40% less because companies wouldn't be able to charge on this. I have a feeling that any lawsuit that's brought as far as a New York attorney general. The company is going to argue that there was development costs and research costs and all of these abstract costs that in court are very very difficult to pin down an actual number too, which is why it's best if there is a lawsuit that forces these companies to define what intellectual property is as far as value as an asset. But the company is going to have to be forced to do so. And right now big tech is not regulated and not. They can say that we have 10,000 hours in developing this intellectual property and therefore it's valued at billions and billions of dollars. When even a simpleton could look at the idea, find inefficiencies and fix it to something better which would void their copyright. But it's the American way capitalism
