I have a discovery 2018 HSE Luxury. It’s a beautiful truck and feels powerful. That being said, my wife and I are getting to get rid of it and switching it out for a suburban or even Sienna XSE. 3rd row is very small and my younger children aren’t getting any smaller, I’ve had various issues varying from water dripping from the front windshield to the steering locking up. Lastly and more specific to me, the nearest Land Rover dealer is terrible.

"[T]he nearest Land Rover dealer is terrible." That seems to be very common. They are too used to catering to the super rich.

The asymmetrical thing in the rear is kinda a throwback to the Discovery 1 and 2. Those had that setup because the spare tyre was mounted on the tailgate, so a part of the rear glass had to be redesigned to allow for better visibility. However the LR3 and LR4 moved the spare tyre to the bottom of the car, and did not need that design but kept them anyway.

It was the perfect non land Rover, European option that gave you great ride and handling, in addition to respectable off road performance and amazing towing of 7200lbs, no matter what engine you chose. LR keeps rebranding their models.
Current Defender should be a new gen Discovery.
    Disco Sport is a Freelander.
No idea what is the current Disco, since the previous one was boxy and the new one looses that styling.
    It is weird strategy.
Just add a new model, it is fine to have two vehicles of similar size that target different customers.
There is a space in a market for a new body on frame, decent unibody AWD and luxurious SUV. Nothing wrong with all of them.
Generally speaking I’d say someone who cares about low speed transfer case would appreciate more practical boxy design and that customer would also describe luxury on a different way. I am that kind of customer. I do t care about screens everywhere but would love to have cooled seats in my next vehicle.
LR styling is amazing and I wished they reach out to people who would ordinary look for Land Cruiser.
