Bivol's strikes are obviously great but for me his most impressive aspect is his foot work. Dude is in and out so fast, it's a thing of beauty
Bivol's footwork is phenomenal, watching him beat Zurdo was even better than Canelo in my opinion as that's where he really showcased his footwork because Zurdo was a lot more dangerous in terms of reach and power
Bivol has perfected the Soviet Pendulum counter punching style.
His whole style is traditional Soviet to the bone, he really sticks to the books except he executes everything at a higher level. Really such a beautiful boxer.

Same. Bivol has talent. He's good no doubt but there's levels to this and Canelo from what we've seen already is slightly above him. But then again we fight enthusiast know the beauty about the fight game is capitalizing on mistakes made. One punch can always end the fight.

I've worked out on traditional heavy bags ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxp9-sf95nqfjey-uyzxUzQ7m9MXRPK1BE a spherical stuffed "wrecking ball" bag, and now this thing. What I like about it is that it has the heft to stay largely in place so I'm not chasing it around. It's tall enough to allow for headshots and body shots, but it's short enough to give an uppercut somewhere to land. I'm very happy so far. Filling it was a bit of a cluster. For top-offs, I've learned that you can screw the supplied nozzle onto any basic plastic water bottle. I can't speak to durability as I've only had it a week.
Bivol left hand will actually be the bigger problem for Canelo. GGG did work on Canelo with the jab. Bivol has a very good and much longer jab than GGG even if it lacks the power of GGG's jab. However, Bivol has an amazing left hook. He is very good at making opponents fall asleep thinking a jab is coming and he turns the jab into a left hook. He also throws that left hook with good power. I can see him catching Canelo with that a lot. However, Bivol sometimes gets countered over the top with overhand rights as he's coming in because he doesn't always move his head after the jabs. Lastly, Bivol seems somewhat open to the body if he gets too close to Canelo. I like Bivol's footwork though to turn Canelo like Lara. Close match here.
I feel like so many casual boxing fans don't realize how complicated his left hook is. The looseness and the last second turning over into a hook is deadly! I first spotted it in a mitt video and I kept saying to myself "jesus fuck that hook is so nonchalant but carries so much power". The only thing I wonder is how well he can do it moving backwards. He does a great job of bouncing in and out of range which will be when he catches Canelo walking in but can his do it consistently walking backwards. I think if we see the same Canelo as the Kovalev fight, Canelo loses. He's gonna have to bring a mix of Daniel Jacobs and Callum Smith fights to win this one. I'm so excited for this fight

@@koplak9809 I agree only when he commits does he sometimes leave himself open. Normally though he has a very good judge of distance. He stays outside and only enters on his own watch. He then prefers footwork to escape danger. I can see him pulling some Lara-esque problems for Canelo in there. Canelo likes to be planted when he throws. He only sprints in quick explosions of footwork on ocassion and Bivol footwork could keep Canelo out of range all night. If Canelo doesn't time him - I honestly see Canelo losing a decision over a long tough fight. He may catch Bivol on the inside if Bivol stays sloppy or coming in - but that is no guarantee!

Old soviet school style punching, very relaxed shoulders and elbows, but strong wrists,forearms and knuckles, allows great power and speed for minimal energy expenditure. Old USSR boxing is pure biomechanical genius.
I agree it'll be an amazing fight. Thing is, Canelo hasn't fought an average dude since Rocky Fielding (and Avni Yildirim, which was a mandatory defense), and the last one before that was probably in 2013. He ALWAYS kicks up that notch, like the level Bivol is training right now, he's done it for every bout since 4 years ago. Imagine that extra notch Canelo gonna kick it up for May 7th. It'll be a treat.

He def has a chance. Canelo is taking a risk here. I think Dmitry needs to focus on his physical strength, especially core and neck. Skill wise he’s already where he needs to be. He needs to make sure he can sustain the damage that Canelo will inflict.

Bivol's footwork will give himself trouble
Should be Canelo's hardest fight since Golovkin: Bivol is faster, throws better combinations, and is more mobile, but GGG hits harder (even fighting 15 lbs below), throws a better jab, and is better defensively I believe (very underrated aspect of his style), so it's a similar level, but a different set of challenges. Bivol is also in his prime while GGG was very slightly past it. I think it may come down to Bivol's durability: Plant, BJS, and Kovalev couldn't take it, but if Bivol can it may well be his night.
GGG doesn't have a better defence. There isn't much GGG has on Bivol.

There is not way Canelo leaves a fight against Beterbiev without parkinson or alzheimer. Canelo will see those hooks coming a mile away, and he leaves his hand low when he throws the jab, which a fighter like Ginger will eventually take advantage of at some point.
My perdition is he’ll slowly break Bivol down off his mistakes with counters. People will say again it was a fix fight because of that, not realizing fighters r just hesitate/don’t want to fully commit to their punches because of Ginger power behind those counters.

Got Bivol for the upset even tho I like Canelo as a fighter. Bivol and Canelo is a gonna be a solid chessmatch with a few good exchanges but I don't expect a slugfest or even a knockdown. Both these fighters fight technically sound so expect alot set up shots by Bivol and single power shots from Canelo.
Dmitry Bivols' Uppercut will be in full Effect...Youth and Strength will be on his side...If his Stamina is there in this fight..then he might easily win a unanimous decision. But it can Only Occur if he can make Canelo respect his power.
The main thing people are forgetting is that canelo is going up in weight. It could affect him vs a guy that's been fighting comfortably in his weight. Could go either way tbh, but going up in weight might affect him more than y'all think

Just to point out, bivol guard is open at times. But his in out movement is his defense. But the way canelo fights with feet stuck in the mud I just don't know. Bivol never sits on the ropes. He almost always circles out back to the center of the ring
If Bivol is to win this bout, he must hurt Canelo early. Either by K.O, or inflicting enough damage to slow him down substancially. He (Bivol) does posses the power to do so. But if he dosent capatalize on that early he will be victimized by canelos speed as the fight prolongs. Will be exciting to watch regardless. I lean towards a Canelo win, by a body shot round 6 or 7.

Also Canelo has never KO'd any fundamentally sound fighter that early, he usually breaks them down and weakens them to round 9-10. Smith went the distance fighting from simple high guard. Bivols not even had a hair cut that's how you no his focused on this fight. Bivol has had 400 fights before turning pro i would be super accurate as well with that many fights.
