      @@OnlineArcheryAcademy I used to have a bow 25 -30 pound bow ,I was able to draw 30 inch with overall good form with no pain all-around the body,
      Recently (4days) I built a new bow (higher poundage 40maybe )only able to draw 25 inches ,so I tried to exercise my muscles by draw the bow a couple of times twice a day ,
      Yesterday morning (too little warm up) I pulled the bow a felt ,a weird pain in front of my shoulder above biscep to upper chest somewhere in between,
      I tried again and I noted that my elbow starts facing up after 20 inches of draw then at 23 inches I tried to correct my elbow rotation and I felt that weird pain again,
      I think the grip is the problem ,I am starting to think I should do t and y excercises with elastic band to strengthen my back muscles
      What are your comments on that .please reply.

    I found it impossible to move my elbow without turning my wrist. in this video I heard you say something about a wall. I can turn my elbow without turning my wrist if I put my fist against the wall the way you would hold the bow but I can do this only with my dominant hand. Also my elbow actually bends slightly backwards when I do this. which is probably incorrect although I don't really know. with my less dominant hand I can't do it at all. And in any case I can't do it without turning my wrist at least a little bit I just can do this without turning my whole hand when its touching a wall but that is probably incorrect as well.
    As far as aligning my elbow I can do this if my bow string is under my ear or further. I understand up to the ear is still correct further is overdraw. I can prevent myself from putting my elbow too far outside from closer but only if my elbow is up, above the string. I saw something similar in some archers so I'm not sure if having elbow above but not outside is acceptable or not. Is it ?

    The tip of my bow arm elbow hurts after I started rotating the arm for a month. My club mates had similar experience. Any thing we did wrong? We didn't rotate the shoulder but the deltoid muscle.

    When I'm at full draw with my elbow rotated, am I supposed to feel the pressure from the bow on my shoulder, on my elbow or somewhere else?

    • @OnlineArcheryAcademy
      @OnlineArcheryAcademy  4 роки тому +3

      Ideally you should feel the force of the bow grip direct through the pressure point and feel like a straight line of force through your arm and into the bow shoulder. It should almost feel like a solid column when you get it absolutely right :)

    I also find that its harder to rotate the elbow during the draw, since youre exponentially increasing the force of the bow WHILE trying to rotate ur elbow, to curb this, i used to rotate my elbow first before lifting up the bow, which helps in the bow arm alignment from the get go.
    Also, the volume of this video is too low, had to turn up my volume all the way to barely hear ur voice

      I've just had a look and you're right, sorry about the volume in the video. I'll make sure the volume is loud enough next time.
      For the elbow rotation, you're absolutely right about it being harder as you're drawing the bow. For most people the best time to rotate it is when you are lowering the bow to the setup position after reaching the apex of the lift height, so that may be something to try too :)
      Rotating the elbow before you lift the bow can be ok, as long as it doesn't compromise the opening of the bow and you are then able to maintain the rotation as you draw the bow.
      I hope that makes sense :)
