Bruh I want a new savage so bad! That was my first nitro and actually my very first rc! I got it back in 2014 and it started the hobby for me. I got rid of it and regret not restoring it.. I now have 5 different rc’s and the Savage X 4.6 started it all! Love the video man! 🤙🏻
@@TastyBRC You’re welcome! I have heard similar things about it not being reliable too.. I still want one but hopefully they will work out the kinks. Seems like nitro bashing isn’t as much of a thing anymore but I hope they put the time in to revise it!

Its more than a plastic gears problem, before they started to Break so easily i ran tens of litres with multiples engines and never had an issue. Something is wrong inside that box, im replacing every single part and ill end up fixing it
The gt-6 ran tip top! That 4.6 motor was extremely reliable before mine died. That sucks about the picco savage, was really looking forward to seeing more of that one
Jeremiah! Where have you been? The gt6 ran really good and took a beating, however it required quite a bit of wrenching to get there, new servos, throttle linkage, engine plate, spur gear, diffs shimming, screws....

@@TastyBRC and yes you are correct, the gt-6 requires a fair amount of wrenching and upgrades to be bash worthy out the box. I have finished mine and want to show a final video of the upgrades soon.

Thank you. The picco in the video is not a .28, its a .24 the 28 is not made anymore, sadly.. The lrp has more power than the picco 24 but the picco is a much better engine, its based on a race engine, made with the same materials and quality standards. A great engine! Unlike the lrp wich is a low quality engine, sometimes finicky and wont last as long as the picco but yes the 32 has tons of power.. my picco cost me about 220$ same as the lrp

Wow, still having the gearbox issue. Incredibly frustrating. It's definitely not bad luck as lightning doesn't strike 5 times in the same place. There is definitely an issue somewhere with the truck. If it's melting it's a heat issue, but it is clearly not obvious where it comes from. Maybe over the winter it will be a good idea to tear the whole truck. Check everything is perfect, even if it not near or connected directly to the gearbox. Spend many hours and only look at it when you have great patients. Sometimes you can look 100 times and miss the problem.
You're absolutely right, it's not a torque or power problem, something is causing the breakage and i'll only find by dismantling everything.. I have a new gearbox i'll only fit it after checking the rest of the transmission.. this old savage deserves that

It has to do with the metal spur gear. I understand that some plastic spur gears will get destroyed during run time but that depends on how they are tightened. Once again going full metal flm gears will solve the issue but I understand that what where your from shipping is expensive.
You are right.. i need those flm gears. Just got a hpi 3 speed gear box and there still a plastic gear so Ill order the flm gears next month, im sick of spending more time wrenching than bashing.
@@TastyBRC your savage will thank you with the flm gears. ;) If other drive line parts are cheaply made. Then change those out for higher quality ones.
Gonna have to upgrade the gears in the trans. There’s a few options. Fast lane machine steel gears and the savage octane main drive gears are much stronger as well
I looked for those FLM gears but they are way too expensive, shipping to France + taxes -> 250$ + :S Didnt knew ocatne gears fit this tranny! i just ordered a 3 speed fully assembled gear box, hopefully its going to be reliable.

I dont think that the problem comes from the engine anymore, i didnt had that kind of issue with my rebel xl v2 nor the picco 28 (stock) i need to replace the gear shafts and clutch holder, the only parts i havent replaced yet. But i just received a brand new 3speed gear box full assembled, ill try that next week!

The gearbox is the only weak point, i have the flux dogbones, cen genesis diffs in flm aluminum bulks 🙂 i really need those flm gears !

Yeah the new savage xl uses 2 machined steel gears from the octane. They are the same part number
