Phil Tucker Thanks Phil. They have actually gave me a full refund now as ive now had 2 smashed screens delivered🤦♂️. Im now placing an order else where and ive been assured that this other company use specialist packaging to prevent any possibility of damage 🤞 watch this space

John Rowell They must be throwing the boxes around John. Ive since had a 2nd one delivered smashed aswell 🤦♂️. I am going to fit it myself but i will have to be extremely careful

Nice to see you had your ppe on when drilling the bell housing,I just use a safety skwint.The windscreen is a bit of a bummer,and The Royal Mail should pay for another

craig orford yeah the courier that supplied both screens clearly need to take some training. If i was the supplier i certainly wouldn’t be using them again 🤦♂️

Where did you get the gearbox bell housing to st170 engine bolts mate , is it a kit to the st170 or have you just measured and bought each bolt ? I just used what I had laying around to trial fit but now iv removed on bench while I’m doing body

Dave Bartram Afternoon Dave i got the Bolts as a kit from GS escorts in Runcorn but to be fair there only M10 bolts and if you got 50mm long, you could easily cut down for where they need to be shorter. Since i received the damaged screen, ive received a 2nd damaged screen 🤦♂️
Excellent again Craig. I like you talking through the process as it throw out questions to google. I'm currently going to look at the degree to which bracing the anti roll bar reduces dive and think about doing it my self. What quality where the adjustable TCA's?
Oh and is 2nd gear left the same ratio?
Benjamin Benson afternoon Benjamin, Really pleased the videos are useful. Yes 2nd gear remains the same original ratio. The TCA’S feel really good quality to be honnest. Really heavy duty and appear to be well made. Nice and easy to adjust also. Ive now got them fitted so i will show that in a future video.
Gutted for you re the windscreen. From what I saw it was a bit short on bubble wrap.
I felt your pain re deciding which way to mount the bellhousing. I've seen the quick release conversion done and they ground out some material on the gearbox to stop the bolt head being pushed outwards. If your not going to be dropping the box or changing clutches in a wet service area I think you took the best option.
Are you sorted re propshaft (single piece).?
Extreme Ways thanks for that bit of info. I did wonder if the gearbox casing was ground out to accept the bolts. Im hoping i dont need to do a clutch for many many years and to be fair, the bell-housing bolts are fairly well accessible. No i dont actually have a prop shaft or rear Axle just yet. I think they will come early nxt year when funds permit 🤣
i think you have been coned ! i may be wrong but fixing cars from that time frame more 80s on but the odd mark 1 pooed up escort boxes had a totally different box box bellhousing is same cast.. but the 2000 is the tipe you have wood be from the transit ore cortina whit a screw in gear lever not a 3 bolt cover plate like you box is i didnt see that till the sierra came out i may be mistaken but dont know
Thats right, the box i have fitted is the type 9 5 speed and would have originally been fitted to the Sierra or Capri. Its not an original escort gearbox, but rather a very common upgrade to 5 speed
Did that windscreen come via Hermes? If so they are a bloody nightmare for breaking things. Also, have you seen the Petrol ped video about the Honda engined mini?
Barry Ford Afternoon Barry, no i know Hermes are poor but this wasn’t Hermes. This was a 2 letter company that i just cant remember. If i was to guess id say it was CX couriers but not 100% sure. I actually just watched that video a few days ago Barry. I wouldn’t mind a drive of it 😎😎😎

Did you consider the Mazda 6 speed?
Hello, i did yeah. I actually had a Mazda MX5 6 speed that i sold on as the conversion was going to be too tricky and the box was much bigger than the tunnel. I did also consider the RX8 box but decided to stick with the type 9, with a view of a possible future upgrade 👍
Should of checked screen whe it was delivered
EZ_Isaac13 I did check the screen as soon as it arrived and the supplier checked it before it was sent out, meaning its the couriers who have handled it too roughly 🤦♂️

EZ_Isaac13 I really couldnt video every task i carry out or i will still be building it when im a pensioner 🤣 The reason i only video certain jobs is that the video process just adds soo much time to the job and certain very easy tasks are not worth videoing. So many tasks are self explanatory so i just try and capture the more interesting tasks that people would maybe like guidance on. I do admit that i would like to include more work taking place where possible 👍
