In this video I'm making a hanging planter for my house. The wood species is walnut and the finish is a boiled linseed oil. I use my Oliver bandsaw to rough out the shape of the bowl, then fine tune the curve using spokeshaves and sandpaper. The interior of the bowl is cut out using a power carving disc on my angle grinder. Follow the link to my Amazon store to purchase the carving disc.

I'm trying out a new format with the voice overs. I still want to keep my typical style of mostly just the me working but I think the voice overs help the video flow better and hopefully are informative. Let me know what you think!

"Your turn!" "Bye". Your daughter is so precious. The planter came out great. I have some Red Cedar blocks from a tree I had to take down. They are about 3 years old and now I am thinking I may try something like this. Thanks Andy!

Your daughter is so cute. Sometimes my kids come over to the shop to, but most of the time their living with their mom. Awsome build and i like the texture on the bottom. Te contrast between the lines and the rest of the bowl is awsome.

Turned out great! Well I guess it wasn't turned but it ended up great. I found out the hard way with a recently hung planter that you have to be careful with soil contact on those jute ropes. We had one that ended up decomposing away fairly quickly and found it dangling sideways by 2 of the rops. So while the rope looks way better we are switching it up to a paracord here once I get around to it.

Good video of your production, but I’m thinking thats one very heavy hanging planter once watered....and it looks like you have a drainage hole that drips to ground.? Good drainage important for plants....I’m guessing you will need to modify a few things along the way. Ps - get urself a lathe. They are just great to use! And be creative with wood.
