Really do like the change of pace, to the in your face style of some. Though do like the presentation style where you talk as well, as some pictures may say a thousand words, but every now and again a couple more don't hurt.
It looked like you were carving a piece of chocolate with the color of the wood and how smooth you carve! I love watching you carve. I hope the new baby is doing well
Your videos are so rewarding, relaxing, inspiring, satisfying and educational"ing" so that a woodworking hack like me gets so much out of them. Thanks for taking the time to put out such high quality content like this. 👍
Hey Andy, so for my WoodShop class in high school I made a flute and was wondering maybe you could try to make one. Granted I used a lot of power tools and a lathe but I think that you could do it. Instead of hollowing it with a drill maybe you could cut it in half and carve the inside since you don’t usually use big machinery like a lathe. I hope you read this message and try it out. Thanks!
I love watching your videos. Need to reach out to you and the woodwork community. Have a ton of kiln dried Butternut lumber . Has been sitting in a shed for years. Need to sell it for my mother. Dad passed away last September. If your interested let me know. All of it is 6 to 8 ft length 3 inch thick. 4 to 8 inch wide. Hate to see it go to waste. At the most there are 30 boards or more. Please share. Nice wood if you like the old barn finish .
Andy Question: I just got a front vise like the Rockler or Woodriver quick release, no name on it just a Made In Germany stamp and GBE stamp. Anyway not important, My question is what kind of wood do you recommend for the jaws? Hardwood or Softwood?
Ben Baker . Ben. I’d think first. What type of wood working would you like to do. Second, when you decide on that. What type of tools you will need. You interested in building furniture, or maybe carving? There are many types . First off. Find your passion. Then find your tools. What is it that peeks your interest in wood working. At the least, you could start small. Take a pocket knife. Go out in the yard where you live. Find a old branch. Start whittling on it. Meaning, start carving... the idea is to see something in that piece of wood. The most historical painters that have ever lived . Had a vision. Or a idea. And they some how put it on canvas. Same thing with wood...
i didn't read the title so i thought you were gonna make something really intricate and then it turned out to be a drawer lid😂. thats not to say that its not impressive though, liked.
You do great work man but you really don’t showcase it. I don’t mean to get ignorant, I really don’t but it seems like you’re doing little, household projects just for the sake of uploading a video of SOMETHING. We wanna see some big, multi-part series on some big elaborate projects man. I’m normally not the guy to say stuff like this but I can tell you can do so much more. I’d personally love to see it. Keep up the quality work man, sorry for being an ass..
Thanks for the honest feedback and you hit the nail in the head. I do a lot of smaller projects because it just fits better into my system of balancing commissions with UA-cam. Ive got some really good commissions coming up, which I plan on filming. One I’m working on now, it’s a three part series on building a 4 drawer dresser...so bigger projects are coming your way. You can get a better idea of my day to day work in the shop by checking out my stories.
I appreciate the response man and that’s awesome to hear I can’t wait to see it. You’re, hands down, the best wood craftsman on here. I really loved the walnut shotgun stock you did and the “have it made” videos are beautifully produced/edited. I shouldn’t have said anything lol I’m sorry again man
Still here from the demoranch vid , but i gotta say the turn on closed caption thing and no talking is a big turn off to your channle. You do great work but thats a mayjor negative for me . Just my .02 i think live talking , or voice over would be far far more enjoyable when i have to look at and read tiny little words it really takes away from the video and being able to watch the work be done
Man, I really enjoy your videos. No fuss, no fancy stuff, just a man making nice things.
The noise of the wood cutting under the chisel at the beginning is amazingly comforting. I wish I could get my chisels this sharp.
Watching you working with a chisel is so relaxing! this is awsome!
The beauty is in the details. The enjoyment comes from watching and listening to the sharpness of your chisels. Thanks for the video!
-Ben
Something very relaxing about your videos, nothing finer then the snick, snick sound of a plane or chisel in action.
These videos are the definition of good asmr
Awesome video Andy! Simple and sweet with nothing but excellent craftsmanship!
I appreciate the fact that he doesn't boast about how sharp his tools are but they are low key SCARY sharp
Very nice work Andy.
You always put just the right amount of captions. Wondered why you turned the piece around at 1:20 and then boom, there was one to explain it

Man, I can you imagine being an apprentice to Mr. Rawls. Amazing work
Andy rawls you deserve more subscribers on what you are doing
It looked like you were carving a piece of chocolate with the color of the wood and how smooth you carve! I love watching you carve. I hope the new baby is doing well
Some of your technics remind me of Paul Sellers, keep up the good work.
He was trained by Paul Sellers back when he first started making this his career. Talked about it in the last video with his father I believe.
Yes, I did take classes under Paul Sellers and he's a big reason why I love handtools so much.
Dude, you are the Alec Steele of wood working! Your stuff looks amazing!
As always love the no power tools build. A true craftsman
Andy, Number 1 👏👏👏👏👏

Wow! This is the best video of asmr. So tingles and relaxing
Yes, the asmr woodworker is back at it again
Pure class as always.
Awesome!

Hello andy, i was thinking if you could make a video how you sharpen your chisel? I always have a problem that my chisel too blunt/ not sharp.
Wan Muhammad Aiman me too. Would love my chisels to be this sharp!

Alright I gotta know....were the eggs a snack for later or some hint at a future project 🤔 nice work brother!
Haha...No! The coop is right outside my shop so I usually grab the eggs and stick them in my shop until I go i the house
Andy Rawls haha awesome. THAT sounds like you’re living your best life. Cheers!
Very James Bondish Well Done
Really nice pull. A lot of work for a drawer pull but your craftsmanship prevents you from doing anything less.
Happy late Father's day. Hope ya had a good one.
Thanks You!
Im just out of college and starting my career soon but before I do I would like to get into wood working do you have any tips on where to start?
Ben Baker. If you don’t mine hearing from someone that’s been woodworking for over 30 years. I’d give you some advise.
@@dannykfoster8176 for sure id love any kind of direction

So what do you have against voice overs?
