The Waylon Jennings Phaser Pedal | Artist Signature Series | Fender
/ fender
I'm completely satisfied with my Small Stone but I always want to try as many phasers as I can. This effect just makes everything sound magical to me
I had an original small stone that was always my favorite, but this is really a unique pedal.
This seems out of nowhere!! I’m really digging it and it sounds great!
Proof?
@@stanknugget proof of what? That I like it or wasn’t expecting a Waylon Jennings’s phaser?
@@ryanjenkins3427 Both!
Always loved the Waylon sound. I'm a blues player but this will be a pedal I will be getting.
I doubt so.
If you're a blue's players and looking to get a phase pedal you might want to check out the Joe bonamassa BS-1 phasee.
I can listen to Waylon all day.
Thank you so so much for doing some Waylon gear.
Hell yea, I'll have to buy this phaser. Waylons tone has always been one of my favorites.
Got mine yesterday and it’s definitely it’s a good add to my guitar sound , recommend buying one if you haven’t yet
I thought they weren’t out yet. ???
@fender it is honestly way overdue that you have a waylon jenning signature series. We need a signature guitar and amp in the line up
Brilliant idea, Fender! 👏
Not a big Phaser fan, but damn, you guys made that sound nice with a decent price too. I may just have to sneak this pedal into my collection.
Why sneak?
Do it. I dare ya.
Cool pedal. This is the 2nd demo I've seen.
Go get ‘‘em shooter, cool licks John. That pedal sounds bad ass!
This pedal is badass. 😎
Solid as ever, John!
FENDER< you should of added a VIBE mode and extra Throb button. I like the small box and top jacks which is a plus.
Nails the “Hero’s have always been Cowboys” phase. Must have for country players pickers.
Sounds really good! surprising
The closed captions made me laugh too much during the guitar playing bits. "Thank you." hahah!
Count me in on this here!
LEGEND…. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Waylon-
Enough said.
NO.
Cool 😎
what’s the lick starting at 1:27
Now bring back a signature quad reverb!!! 😅
Hope to see the ‘home’ amp next if he had a specific one.
Quad reverb !
I might get one, but I think the evh phase 90 is the best one to get since it has a script logo setting and modern
When the Sweet switch is on, bypassing the Phase selector, what stage (2, 4, 6) does it default to?
6
I have a "Flanger" and would like to know the difference between a flanger and a phaser. The sound similar.
Damn when the price drops or one shows up used I’ll definitely be interested
Does it work on acoustic guitar?
Loved Waylon's Phaser. Which one did he actually use?
A handful of different ones depending on era (sorry I don’t know them off hand lol) The phaser comes with a pamphlet that tells you which ones he used on different albums, and what settings to use to achieve a replica of each sound 😎
Electro-harmonix Small Stone, the old one.
Are these coming to canada?
When is it available to order can’t find it anywhere can’t wait to get one
Reverb
What song is being played at 1:27 ?
I can’t argue with anything here..
❤❤❤❤
Jack of diamonds,
Jack of diamonds ,
Take my money …..
Will it work on bass?
Yes it does! The range knob moves the frequencies that are effected by the phaser down into the bass range on lower settings, so you can use the range knob to dial in just how much of your bass signal is effected.
There is no bottom-end cut at the input of the pedal, so you can tune it to your liking with the RANGE control.
The phaser is associated with Waylon Jennings in country music, and EVH in rock. But is there anyone else in the history of music who's so closely associated with the effect? Jimi Hendrix's use of Uni-vibe may be one, but that's not quite the same sound. Other than that example, I can't think of anyone. To what extent does this Fender phaser raise the noise floor?
Noise performance may very well be the best in the pedal format. Better than -105dB.
@@likethehotels None of my local music shops had this pedal. I tried several other pedals, and was always disappointed with either the noise floor, switch popping, lack of adjustability, or just not sounding the way I think a phaser should sound. In the end I bought the Waylon Jennings phaser online, thinking I could always return it if it was a bad as the others. Well I can tell you, it's going nowhere! I tried it in an FX loop, and there was a tiny increase in noise floor. Not bad, but not perfect. Then I tried it after a Boss tuner, and before a couple of other pedals, into the front of the amp. In this setup, there was absolutely no discernible increase in the noise floor. There's plenty of adjustment and tonal variation, and it sounds just how I want it to sound. If I have one criticism, it's that the LED is extremely bright! I'm very pleased with this pedal and cannot recommend it highly enough.
billy corgan is well known for his phaser sounds, not as much as he is his fuzz tones though
Zero feedback is the best feature ..
Lovely sounding pedal regardless of the artist association. Only gripe, which seems to apply to a lot of Fender’s recent media output, is with the subtitles: Either allow viewers to turn off the subtitles, or at least get someone to proof read the text before the video gets uploaded. Suspect it’s auto-transcription running amok, but sometimes it is so far off it make the subtitles extremely distracting from the video/ audio content. So much so that I’d rather not play the video.
Click the CC button and the subtitles go away.
The subtitles are a UA-cam feature. Fender has nothing to do with the quality of the transcription. As mentioned above you can easily deactivated them

Damn, I want this, though.
Glad to see the salute to Waylon but this is kind of unnecessary. Why not just grab a Phase 90 and be done?
This pedal can do 6 stage phasing. The Phase 90 is only a 4 stage phaser. Waylon's go-to phaser in the 70's was a Maestro PS-1A. Which was a 6 stage phaser. So if you want Waylon's 70's phaser sound. You would have to have a pedal that is 6 stage. The great thing about this pedal is it can do 2,4 and 6 stages.
@@ProfessorX931 thank you professor . i think ultimately in this world we could use more professor and LESS bad brad , but looking its 2 to one . explains a lot about why this place is so s#tty
Just happy to provide some useful information.@@peteytwofinger
Because Waylon was legally barred from using MXR gear.
@@stanknuggetHe was?! What for?
Waylon used a phase 45. Period. Thats per his tech. 😊
He’s mainly known for the Maestro in the 70s.
Proof?
Maestro, MXR and Boss were all used. This thing can nail any of those tones.
Yeah the 70s classic sound that he started with roughly with the dreaming My dreams album was the maestro.

The guitar is extortionate
Dude I know. It’d be way cheaper to pay a leather worker to wrap a standard Tele. I think you can even buy a pre made wrap too
1:22 D chord
is very out of tune. Come on.
Check you ears.
High E is sharp. And a diehard Waylon fan would tune the Low E to D!!
No thanks
I love you guys are honoring Waylon with a pedal, but as a long time guitar player and Waylon fanatic, none of those sounds were remotely or were even close to Waylon's sound. It's a cool 'gimmick' though, clever marketing for sure.
It all sounds good, but it doesn’t sound like Waylon.
