**FOR THOSE WHO DONT WANT TO LEVEL WITH SPELLSLINGER** I practiced with leveling this build and I instead leveled with orb of storms, frost bomb and sparks. Sparks isn’t as powerful as arc or ball lightning, but it’s what the scion gets. If you use your orb of storms with frost bomb, and the combo of sparks you can get to level 38 very comfortably. Use topaz rings for crafting recipe on your wands as you level to get lightning damage to spells on them for nice dps boosts. And craft** either spell damage or cast speed on the wands as they become available in the crafting bench while leveling up. Do this until you get the archemage setup with ball lightning and you shot be good to go. Some boss fights with spark isn’t the best but it isn’t that bad. I myself hate going spellslinger in league start as I usually have a hard time with links. I leveled with spark with the orb of storm combo and frost bomb and it was a lot smoother leveling than I thought it would be, just really need to get the lightning damage to spells on those wands as you level, I think it goes level 8, 14 then 22 for rare topaz rings to get high rolls. Hope this helps and good luck in heist league!
Thanks for the post. I was really trying to do creeping frost but since this build wasn't nerfed at all, I may change it. Not a lot of time to practice though, I'll jump in today and try to get a little practice in
@@ElSabio159 i think i did spark, then added lightning, then ele focus (make sure to have prolif support for orb of storms for shocks and herald of thunder) then faster casting, you can try other supports but those were fine for me until act 4, drop herald of thunder and wrath once you start doing archmage with ball lightning, and then do wrath once you get essence worm
Just as a note, for the full tree, there is a 6% life node available on the left instead of one of the 5% in the middle! When you gota optimize you gota optimize! (:
Amazing guide. PoB build quality is uncanny. You've been my lurking youtuber, as in I just sometimes pop in to see what you are up to, but the amount of time and dedication you put out for the community can not go unnoticed. Great work! Thank you!
dont forget the vendor recipes for flat lightning dmg to spell,i think it was a magic wand+an alt orb+a topaz ring(rarity of ring decides amount of dmg added and level req). i found those were a huge help early on
You should take 2 points out of the life loop and put one in the point next to Devotion for 1% more life and the other in the point next to Heart and Soul for the same life but 8% increased maximum mana as a bonus.
for power charge generation you can use small mana cluster " Liquid Inspiration " its just 2 points and gives mana so you dont loose anythink (i guess) and free power charge generation without power charge generate chest
please dont ever roll the wands, just get alt + lightning res ring (which u can make by selling iron ring + green gem) the ring can be white/blue/rare for level 8/14/20 wand and sell ring + alt with a blue want to vendor, it will give you huge flat lightning damage which is enough damage to basically get you to maps
AWSOME! Work, especially with leveling section for speedy geting over all 10 acts. This is mostly missing from all other build guides. Thanks ! Great video.
Big thanks for the guide! I played with Archmage in 3.10 and loved it on Scion; tried all sorts of skills but ended up swapping between BL and BV as both felt great with it then. The changes in 3.11 seemed to have gutted the playstyle but I still couldn't resist leveling a Scion. Experimented with all sorts of ways to get Archmage to feel good again--did somewhat okay but I felt it wouldn't handle things past yellow maps. Came close to shelving the character or respeccing into BL mines for the nth time. Then I saw your last video on the Archmage BL Ascendant, which brought up the unsuspected solution--changing the damn mana flask mod. Just by doing that and adopting a "spammier" playstyle, it made the character amazing to play again. Holey smokes. Shame BV wasn't up to par with BL in this playstyle but still servicable. Will definitely roll an Archmage Scion again in 3.12, and your guide is a great reference for it. Checking to see if Crackling Lance would be decent with the support but BL will be an easy fallback if it isn't. Thanks again.
This was my last build in Harvest, and I finally beat Sirus for the first time with it. But I also was finally able to 6 link my Pledge of Hands, I had a 20/20 ball lightning (and a few other ones) from another build, and I had enough currency to get the boots and other gear. But it did level quite fast with standard leveling gear. I do like that this updated POB has notes for the whole leveling process (the other skipped some of the early levels). I haven't really decided if I want to go back to this for my first build, though I am sure I will try it again at some point.
Hi, I'm considering to try this build for Heist but I'm not sure how much spamming needed to this build work. Do you need to spam mana flask 2-3 times a second for the entire map? Is it that demanding?
@@degoryan What I ended up doing is mapping the denotate mine key (D) to the mana flask to make it easier to press. At times I would press it multiple times a second (like I did with my mine builds), and other times I would press it once every 2-3 seconds.
I love the duck builds, you are a dope content creator mang. I will def try this one out, I've been keeping an eye out on ball lightning since you released last leauges video shreddin that deli
Lvl 83 with this after a couple days. Just some notes for those having trouble: * Keep an extra mana flask and maybe a life flask around if you're dying. The MoM/Foreboding Flask buffer doesn't really start to work well until you're at ~4k+ mana with flask/regen nodes from the tree. It's worth sacrificing the dps boost from extra flasks for survivability early on. Rumi's for block is great as well once you're invested in the staff block nodes. * Slower Proj >>> GMP until you're in to Pledge of Hands territory. GMP clears white mobs amazingly well, but struggles with some blues, most rares and bosses early on. Slower actually works great with the added AoE from the tree - you dash into a pack and the AoE from Slower BL will take care of everything around you. * You don't need to spam BL with Slower Proj for most mobs. Just a couple of clicks tends to take out most white/blue packs, and a couple extra for tougher rares. Save that mana for defense unless it's needed. * Since we're using mana for both offense and defense, don't get hit. Actively move out of damage and don't try to face tank. There comes a point when you're well geared and have a large enough mana pool where you can effectively face tank (mostly due to things dying quickly enough that they don't hit you much), but early into maps you need to be aware of positioning and stay away from heavy damage. Taking a lot of damage makes your foreboding flask less effective and eventually it can't keep up. * Upgrade to a 6L asap. The damage difference is huge, and they're not that expensive for decently rolled this league. Definitely worth the chaos investment. * Allocate Mind Drinker early and every time you upgrade your amulet, it's a huge boost in survivability. It's also dirt cheap (about 2-3c). Also, look for temple amulets with either +% to mana or lightning dmg leeched as life.
Which of the two would you say is better for the amulet? +% to mana or lightning dmg leeched as life? how much of a difference does the leech make? Because right now I have a 20% increased max mana +40 max mana and 21% increased mana regen talisman I found pretty early and was looking at upgrading to something better.
I have to say, Replica Kaom's Heart is absolutely fantastic for this as this build doesn't require 2 six links and its built for us with just massive mana and lightning damage. Also I used The Tactician for 25 all resist, 50% more flask charges (seems like a rare mod in general) and increased crit chance.
@@dark666105 Lightning leeched is purely defensive, I'd go with that if you're having issues surviving. +% mana is both a offensive and defensive boost, though I'd guess less defensive than leech. Most of this is just balancing around the rest of stats and where you are in game. I don't think there's a straight up BiS, as it depends on how well you're surviving and what you need. They're both viable options depending on what you're lacking.
easiest is to use the unleash version until u get pledge of hands. AND just use pinpoint support instead of gmp...it feels soooooo much better until pledge of hands and rare mobs/bosses are ez melted. Probably it would even be better than gmp in endgame and with pledge...had to try it but im still lvling and saving for pledge. I only had probs with 2nd lab with lvl 45, no agnostic so far and only 1.3k life. Even with overcapped res he just finishes u off in 2 hits
Thanks for this guide! I've always wanted a ball lightning char. I was gonna make a ball lightning witch but then saw your video. It's perfect. I love playing as scion because she's the only character that has a decent model and she's pretty. It lines up with what I wanted to do, so I made this on Heist and doing well so far at lvl 70. Also pastebin doesn't work but I get the premise. Thanks for sharing :D
Ive stated that to all who said that BL is dead and since sigil of power uses alot of mana and we have that plenty ... is think is huuuge buff for us,but just wait to see. :)
pinpoint is just a scuffed GMP->Slower Projectiles gemswap. it won't ever be better but if you're super lazy and don't want to swap I guess you could do it
you would be dying with any build then lol you just need better health pots , its not the builds fault you're also probably not running arcane cloak or frost shield
Been testing out different mana flasks instead of Atziri's in this build. Testing out Enduring right now, it does help with boss fights and those times when you get chunked. I'm currently considering trying this build with Indigon's instead of the Inward eye, will report back, might be pretty good when running another mana flask.
So following the guide, I noticed that you could technically have an open 4 link if you socket flam dash in with arcane cloak seeing as how these 2 skills use the same supports pretty much. Any recommendations on skills to put in for it?
So for any of you still trying to get this working, the community fork PoB can be found on github. Download the exe and install. Let it run and update. Then whenever you see a build like this, copy the PoB pastebin link and paste it into the PoB import tab where you see the button to import from pastebin link.
Dying constantly. Currently lvl 83 and unable to do yellow maps reliably. Sitting at 3.5k hp and mana. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Following the build to a T except on items because those don't come cheap. And I'm poor from dying too much :(
@@bgtiti your mana pool is just way, way to low. Even with very small investment, look for items with high life and mana, you can get like 90 hp 80 mana boots/belt/helm/etc for 1-2 chaos each, At 83 you should have 5k+ mana, it's not that hard. Replica Kaoms and Pledge will easily get you to 8k almost by themselves.
Thanks for the great build. I was just wondering why you prefer foreboding mana flask over lavianga's spirit mana flask. Also, is it a good idea to switch out the crown of the inward eye for mind of the council?
Hey Duck! This build looks insane! This is my first leaguestart after rejoining at the end of harvest. I apologize if this is a stupid question but I as a player don’t simply know how tier 16+ compares to delving so I wanted to ask if this build holds up in the darkness?
What cluster jewel would be best between SCINTILLATING IDEA (20% max mana, 5% light pen), OPENNESS( 20% max mana, 30 flat mana) and LIQUID INSPIRATION (15% max mana, 30% inc mana from flask, 25% chance to gain a Power Charge when you use a Mana Flask ) ?
Jewel with both Thunderstruck and Scintillating idea, a magic 2 passive jewel of liquid inspiration so you only have to spend 2 points to get to liquid inspiration.
When do u need to start looking for the foreboding mana flask? Also me and my wife will be Duo leveling her being Creeping Frost Witch and me doing the BL Scion will it be better to level with BL or Spellslinger being as my wife will be able to get ahold of BL early?
Hi I'm Potio_Narc. I'm glad you made this build to be easily accessible to many people. There are a few tips i want to say, but i'm not english speaker please understand my poor english. Swap doedre's Elixer with quicksilver flask when you are boss fighting like conqueror or sirus. This make you to charge all of you endurance, frenzy and power charges and proc your cwdt linked spells. Also, I recommend you to use elemental focus instead of lightning penetration. There were reasons why my build didn't use elemental focus. Early, it wasn't ball lightning build. I've changed gems arc-shock nova-ball lightning. Unlike ball lightning, arc and shock nova have high one hit damage so that i could take effectiveness from shock. In addition, I took some nodes with increased effect of shock on passive tree. When i changed to ball lightning, My character was so strong that I could 27% shock to sirus with ball lightning hit. so i don't need to use elemental focus to get more dps. But if you do this build for starter you can't get that much damage and it's hard to get even 10% shock to bosses. Thus, it would be better to use elemental focus and hierophant ascendancy in early league.
@@Sikucrutz Yeah I was just about to post this. I farmed a Tabula in act 9 but even with a 6 link and over 3k mana my damage fell off a cliff. It was killing everything in a single cast before but since about Act 9 it's just not enough. Certain bosses are taking me 30 or 40 casts to kill and some rares are taking almost a dozen. Not sure what's going on. Got a decent staff for my level as well, large mana and increased lightning damage. I don't think this build is actually as strong as it's being presented as, else a lot more people would be playing it. Even the Hireophant version isn't being played much. I think the nerf did hit this quite a bit. Despite what the video says.
@@ian2714 Nah this build is actually really strong, just gearing up to it as a bit of a slog. With 5 links you should have more than enough damage to get you into early red maps - pinpoint/spellecho/archmage/slower_projectiles. Later on, with the new replica kaoms heart you're actually much stronger than in this video (you get over 9000 mana which converts into lightning damage so you hit like a truck)
I love this build. I started a new char during the last week of Harvest and was able get it till lvl85 with good gear. One possible option (though somewhat expensive) to mitigate the annoyance of pressing the mana flask 3x per sec would be a Watcher's Eye with % Lightning Damage as Mana Leech while affected by Wrath. According to PoB I get 1.45k mana leech per hit (and each ball lightning projectile hits multiple times), which is insane. It works quite well with bosses too. EDIT: I just learned, that the mentioned Watcher's Eye mod was deprecated some patches ago. The Watcher's Eye I got in Standard after Harvest ended was a legacy one, which won't drop in Heist anymore. Just as a heads up so you guys won't waste time chasing that jewel mod...
You would be less tanky though, as the Mana regen from the flask synergizes super well with MoM and the Agnostic. When you can't do damage, your tankiness and regen goes to shit pretty much, so fights like Sirus would be a massive pain imo.
@@grindy8065 Yeah that's true. It's not that you can replace the flask with it, I just found it easier to play this build as you don't constantly run out of mana if you forget to press the key for a couple of seconds.
@@astronemir No idea to be honest, I read somewhere that the highest mana leech % per item is about 2%. But there's no mana leech cap as far as I know.
I like this build, it looks amazing, but I think I will hate playing it with that mana flask. GGG compared mana to accuracy in one of the last leagues patch notes and that caster have to fix mana sustain while melee builds have to fix accuracy. Archmage builds are different, they use that much mana, that there is no sustain except using some kind of workaround like this build and thats something I dont really like. As caster I am happy if i solved my mana and dont have to care about it anymore. I dont even play MoM that often and every MoM build i played so far was deleted pretty soon. Every MoM build I played was like getting hit, no mana to kill enemy, die cause enemy survives... And with this build I see me dead like 50 times while early maps just cause I forgot to press mana flask or casted too early.
with this build you won't forget to press mana, instead you get used to constantly press it and if you switch builds you forget to NOT press mana and end up with no mana charges :-/
*Most* other MoM builds that I've done only work nicely when coupled with Eldritch battery so that your energy shield covers BOTH your defense AND supplementing mana for casting.
Havent had much time this league start yet. Playing on Xbox and didn't love the mines tbh. Almost died multiple times.Used Enkeis archmage guide because i can't get POB to work as a template. Running spark, orb and frost to level and waaaaaay easier on console. Cant wait to unlock ball lightning and melt face 😍
I’ve just started running to the end when I trip the alarm and have stopped going for the small boxes. Less enemy’s and if your tanks in the slightest and don’t get one hit you’ll be fine.
I‘m 87 now, with 4K life and 7,3k mana.. i allways get one shotted in heist.. dont know what to do.. in maps boss fight feels very clunky.. run allways oom.. smashing mana pot like crazy but doesnt work for me.. i‘m little Depressed atm..need some help
I do believe after much deliberation that this is going to be my league starter on PS. Seems that this will be a strong starter to get me far as I am limited in the time I have to play daily. Thanks for the vid and I am looking forward to starting this tonight after work.
@@Rawlingm i think it's more likely becaus intesity need to be casted a lot at the same place to be effective, and (idk if spell echo stacks up intensity but..) he cast the spell 2 to 4 times before moving, (multiplied by 3) so intesity would have his stack up for .. 1 attack .. i think it works like this but i'm not sure at all :l
Ball Lightning got quite a big damage nerf (20% damage reduction), but I'm sure this will still destroy things. If you want to try one of the new skills, Crackling Lance gets a really good % Effectiveness of Added Damage, which will work well with Archmage.
I been playing this build exclusively, up to level 88 now, finally got Pledge of Hands, and I will say, this build is a little misleading at first, because it's "capped" more by playstyle then damage. A ton of damage is not really obvious when your doing, say Tier 5, or Tier 10 maps, stuff dies quickly of chourse but your limiting factor is how fast you can zoom around the map and cast ball lightning. What's funny is when you start to move up, Tier 12... your still killing the same speed just light Tier 1 maps... keep going... Tier 14, same! keep going, wow Tier 16, stuff dies so fast, just the same as Tier 1. You don't quite grasp how powerful the build is until damage matters. Certainly not the fastest "mapper" i've played, but decent, and a great bosser thus far. Played Spectre & Spider build last league, way faster then this one for mapping, but super annoying to boss with. This one certainly gets Props for how effective it is on a low budget. I think i've only got maybe 350 chaos into the whole build, 215C of which came from the Pledge of Hands. I am running Supreme Ego for now, probably won't keep it though, when I can get my hands on a 10% damage to mana watcher's eye.
Continues even into the 100% delirious maps. This build just doesnt stop scaling as it's based off your mana. Once your mana is over 9000 with a replica kaoms and 6l pledge you're doing over 100,000 tooltip dps, absolutely nutty.
I like the build so far, but sometimes Bosses can be.. difficult. While DPS is fantastic, I find taking damage and having my mana drained via mind over matter at a bad time can really fuck me. You can't really spam the eternal flask as much as needed sometimes if you are taking damage/not having small monsters to kill, leading me to me running around waiting for my flask to pop, and hoping I don't get hit for damage again immediately. My gear isn't the greatest yet though, so maybe it'll come online more in time. Sitting at 3.2k lie and 3.8k mana/75 all resists. No pledge, just some random 6link staff. I DO love the dps though. I just seem to get stuck with not enough mana a lot more often than everyone makes it seem.
@@TerenKanan your mana is really low still, this gets a bit easier as the build progresses. Your in a tough phase. at level 90, I have 4k life and 7.2k mana, my gear is still pretty lackluster though.
Am I the only one having troble to import pastebin bin link to path of building. Having this error: in 'onframe': modules/build.lua:123 attempt to index field 'mainOutput (a nil value) PLEASE HELP!
@@greatguildersleeve8861 yeah I'm not a fan of spamming a mana flask constantly but it is a very strong build when you do. If you're not running Omecyeon you'll have enough regen to use a normal mana flask but it doesnt feel very good against bosses
Would make for nice utility as you have a buffer for situations where you run out of flask charges and helps even further with sustaining mana for incoming hits. Since vitality alone now provides a noticeable regen, it's definitely a viable strategy to go for, at least until you min maxed everything and need the jewel slot for more damage or whatever. I'd say it's something you go for if you want ultimate utility/safety, but not really needed.
@@schtauffen-plays well Ball Lightning got nerfed quite a bit if the calcs on the forum i red are correct they were talking about 22% less dmg and less area so it dosnt hit 13 times with slower proj like before but about 9-10 times. As far as Big Ducks said, it wont matter much
@@Manuelitos4 Yea, ball lightning damage got a big nerf but most of the damage here comes from archmage anyway. The radius nerf is actually a big one though down to 18 from 22. Overall the nerf is more targeted towards miners and totems since they won't be able to use archmage for it. Will be interesting to see how "Sigil of power" interacts with it too.
akaVillaz yeah I know but considering how much flat damage we get from Archmage, I think the build will be fine. No one needs 15+ million dps anyway, even if it‘s 10+ after the nerfs, it will still be more than enough
The build is certainly still amazing even after the nerfs and should be excellent to start with and min max later. But man, that infinite mana loop just seems too gamey to me, dont know why
I'll be honnest, the build is very strong, but the mana flask spam, omg. My left hand is constantly flying over the keyboard, even with a lot of spells i've put directly on the mouse, i understand it can be too much for a lot of people. Moba players will be ok imo, the other ones could have issues very quickly. Give it a try if you got time, do not hesitate to get the best of your keyboard configuration to make things the easiest possible for you, gl.
Carefull your experience will definitely be different from what you see here because of this 20 or 30% flat dmg nerf of ball of lightning gem for 3.12.... not the best video to put out there at this time if you ask me , still A+ for taking the time to do it ....
I didn't find this build that great in harvest. Good in some respects and not bad but no world destroyer. Defense was all about damage and ehp which can still get you squished. Felt more first character to maps than endgame. I hate dying though.
@@stupidjess11 No, you are straight wrong. Look at the dps of the build by fraction of the dmg source. Archmage is 90%+. The base is around 5% going up to 10% if you have less mana. So a 20% nerf on 5% is 1% dps loss, 20% nerf on 10% is 2% dps loss. It's nothing. You need to watch the video again to understand this or you need to train your English/reading comprehension.
Having played this build myself, you are clearly doing something wrong. I was able to do t16 maps at about level 80, which is absolutely insane. Chances are that you aren't using the flask properly, as Big Ducks said, proper use of the flask will make you immortal. 11:40
I don't understand why we keep GMP after getting dying sun? Wouldn't the insane aoe from pledge of hands alongside the dying sun be plenty? I'm not sure what would be the BIS replacement, but i feel like you could get a large, probably unnecessary damage boost from slotting in something else with a high mana multiplier?
BigDucks is it possible to change this build to use frostbolt + ice nova CoC? it looks like it shouldn't be a problem, The pandemonius + circle of fear should be insane, herald of ice or hatred instead of wrath in the second ring
Hey Duck. Have you ever thought about uploading the leveling part from your VOD from twitch, I know I would watch it, it would be very handy. But with your internet issues, im not sure it would be possible.
I decided to give this build a try, since it's pretty low budget and I already had most of the gear lying around (in standard), but I have to ask anyone else who's tried it: How are you managing to play this without a complex (and almost certainly illegal) macro to spam flasks? Between having to constantly spam the mana flask (always several seconds in advance to avoid impending disaster), as well as frequently refreshing all the other flasks, I just can't keep it up for more than a minute or two without getting distracted, letting the spam lapse for a few seconds, and then stalling and quickly dying. I briefly considered using a mouse macro that hits the mana flask every half-second, with the other flasks interspersed at few-second intervals, but I'm guessing that this is the sort of thing that GGG could detect (if they're looking for that) and get my account banned. Is it just a matter of building up the muscle memory, and ignoring the inevitable ache in my finger from all the spam, or is there some other trick that people are using to make this playable?
Honestly I wouldn't play this without a macro. I actually have two foreboding flasks on my bar just because the capacity on boss fights isn't enough. The build only works as intended if you're slaughtering through clear maps and mashing that single flask with a frequency that would totally drain you on a boss fight. So I have 2 flasks, staggered, that keeps the pulsing frequency up just enough for the build to work in all content. The only way to do this is a macro or serious training. I've done it manually just to prove it can be done, but I'm not sacrificing hand health because of GGG's design stubbornness.
well actually, for me at least, after some time into the map I have so many stacks of the flask that even if I let the flask for a couple of seconds I will manage. But maybe that's just me idk
Yeah I run this using a mouse macro. Ran it from league start all the way to level 94 and put a lot of hours into it with the macro running. Account still ok.
To have it easy, i put the mana flask on the space bar and i'm smashing it with the bottom of my hand. When you clear you can spam, there's no problem, the flask never runs out. On boss try to use it every 1.5/2 sec, it's suffiscient for nearly all the bosses except maybe uber elder.
That info is the the different skill trees in the PoB. First you take dex and passive point, then ranger pathfinder and str/int, then templar passive and templar inquisitor, then finally the last passive and path of the ranger
Since PoB Fork was updated recently i tested the Spellsinger setup (Frenzy, 4L BL and 4L WoC) of your PoB, if i dont use an aura like Heralds or anything like that you end up with 15% Mana left, so it should still be usable like you said in you video
I am still looking for the right gems for my Pledge 5 link. He is much too slow with the suggested ones. -Spell Echo for speed and one more cast (without unplayable! 4me) -Archmage -SPS DMG -Pinpont, no GMP switch and DMG If I had a 6-link I would still use Lightning Pen. But I didn't... It does not feel so wrong. But I'm not yet far enough in the game to really judge that.
Nice work, nice build. Did you you consider going for full cluster jewel (flask med/mana small/crit (was nerfed))? It can probably be better then some staff nodes (did not check myself yet). Also elementalist can be a bit more versatile on league start, and you can easily respec after.
Quack, quack. What do you think about using the Cloak of Defiance instead? It's expensive at the start of the league, but are there any assumptions not to use it?

Is there any way to contact Big Ducks and ask questions about this build? I just beat Sirus for the first time earlier today, and this build is very good (even though slow to come online effectively, I woulnd't define it a good league starter) But there are some things untold, for instance I have no idea how to make the most out of the 6L in the armor
Depending on how many slots you have free, you could use it for an Archmage Storm Brand or Archmage Arc/Storm Burst Arcanist Brand for extra damage, kind of like using an ancestral totem when using a melee build.
training yourself to tap that mana pot all the time is the hardest part of this build. That alone is a little taxing almost makes me want to automate just pressing that flask button every .5 secs
I don't know if there's a better way to get Interruption Resist, but I ran into the same problem and got some from the passive tree. There are probably better sources for this.
A new player here! Is this build still vaiable for the new league? Also this video have a lot of views does that mean the items will be more expansive? Thank you!
I've been trying out this build and gotten to level 80. But when I do any mapping above tier 9 this build just dies to everything, especially projectiles. I can kill bosses quickly but clearing packs is extremely dangerous. What am I doing wrong? Why am I taking so much damage? I have 4.5k life and 6k mana, have all the tree nodes except some health % and jewels, and am keeping arcane cloak and my flasks up as often as i can.
@@nestube1284 Was the one Foreboding Eternal Mana flask insufficient? It looked like he never ran out of charges in the video because he was able to keep getting charges, spamming the flask, and recovering the mana instantly later.
@@AlfredEiji You need to have 75 all res and at least 15% chaos. Also try using 2 foreboding mana flasks and alternating, it helps keep mana up. This build relies on killing stuff before it kills you so you need all those little extra damage things like atziri's flask and dying sun. also you need to wait until like level 90 and pledge of hands before this build really shines.
I like the build but tis hard to heist really since you get hit your mana is gone even with the flask proceed right i assume its because i'm not using a staff yet and have to much cast speed and or not enough mana yet at 60.. So what is the most important stats until i get pledge on a staff that will rival the damage of wands?

Just a question regarding the links. Does using spell echo in the Pledge of Hands stack with Greater Spell Echo - more cast speed and more damage? Awesome build btw!
i wonder if the 9 link alternate bitterdream will contest pledge of hands for archmage, you willl lose some manacost trogh inspiration but the other supports should make up for that
**FOR THOSE WHO DONT WANT TO LEVEL WITH SPELLSLINGER**
I practiced with leveling this build and I instead leveled with orb of storms, frost bomb and sparks.
Not a lot of time to practice though, I'll jump in today and try to get a little practice in
Crackling Lance might be a good alternative for spark from 28 to 38. Trade leaguers can also buy spark/arc at basically any point they can afford it.
what to link to spark? please, thanks.
I did that combo too, i was practicing last night, it works.. too bad my internet is shit 😂
As a new player, it seems silly how many points get tossed into the "Circle of Life" when there's better choices around the tree
Where can I get this skill gem
for power charge generation you can use small mana cluster " Liquid Inspiration " its just 2 points and gives mana so you dont loose anythink (i guess) and free power charge generation without power charge generate chest
please dont ever roll the wands, just get alt + lightning res ring (which u can make by selling iron ring + green gem) the ring can be white/blue/rare for level 8/14/20 wand and sell ring + alt with a blue want to vendor, it will give you huge flat lightning damage which is enough damage to basically get you to maps
@@Scarpitch not sure if u mean whats alt (alteration orb) or how to get it early (sell blue and rare items identified)
AWSOME! Work, especially with leveling section for speedy geting over all 10 acts. This is mostly missing from all other build guides. Thanks ! Great video.
Running it in maps now (character level 78), so far so good!
It is virtually bullet proof against the traps in the lab :)
You are one of the few people who put a significant effort into the PoB and for that I thank you.
"When I don't have my flask up" - that's a good one!
In heists, waiting on the doors, this is apparently a thing again now. :-(
Is it against PoE's user agreement to use a key macro that just hits the flasks repeatedly for you
@@NikolePrimo It is, but unless you stream it happening or something, you shouldn't have an issue from what I've heard.
Going to try adapting this to Crackling Lance too. Should be fun!
Mike Smithfield it’s sirus
@@Jc-go3mz Thanks.
@@degoryan Yes it really is that demanding.
Looking forward to giving this build a try. Thanks for all the hard work, and the explanation!

You're a hero Big Ducks. I am using this as my league starter. Thanks a lot!
Foreboding mana flask dodged the nerf hammer, Scion waifu league starter is on!
Lvl 83 with this after a couple days. Just some notes for those having trouble:
* Keep an extra mana flask and maybe a life flask around if you're dying.
Also I used The Tactician for 25 all resist, 50% more flask charges (seems like a rare mod in general) and increased crit chance.
i dont get it how do i get the Mind Drinker passiv?
After watching all these league starter vids, i really dont know which league starter to try now. :v
To quote Obi Wan, "you must do what you feel is right of course"
That said, there really is a huge selection to choose from.
Thanks for sharing :D
pinpoint support and sigil of power are probably even buffs to this build
Ive stated that to all who said that BL is dead and since sigil of power uses alot of mana and we have that plenty ... is think is huuuge buff for us,but just wait to see. :)
I would definitely try it with pinpoint instead of gem swapping. But I suspect gem swapping is more damage overall for less convenience.
Pinpoint Replaces GMP :D
pinpoint is just a scuffed GMP->Slower Projectiles gemswap. it won't ever be better but if you're super lazy and don't want to swap I guess you could do it
Every build is nerfed. They are all dead! Oooooooo, fk ggg. All nerfs no buff ever ooooooooo

Hey Duck! This build looks insane! This is my first leaguestart after rejoining at the end of harvest. I apologize if this is a stupid question but I as a player don’t simply know how tier 16+ compares to delving so I wanted to ask if this build holds up in the darkness?

Thus, it would be better to use elemental focus and hierophant ascendancy in early league.
any pob and ofc isnt pen always good vs anything?

What is the thought about using 'Sire of Shards' with 'Greater Volley'? It sends out 8 ball lightnings on a straight parallel path.
Leveling this so far into Act 3 it's not that bad at all. Just get as much raw damage as you can, Heralds are your best friend. Stormblast Mines.
I am level 64 now. And using 4 link ball lightning - GMP - Spell Echo - Archmage feels like my damage is a bit low.
Like right away, learned a lot from your previous videos. Great work!
Lmfao this build survived the nerfs?!? The duck. Thats hilarious
What's mana leech cap?
Alexm3307 if it‘s not too expensive I will definitely steal your idea for additional qol haha
CL has anti-synergy with Archmage because of the Inspire mechanic. EDIT- Intensity, not Inspire.
@@dbrowdy Intensity
dbrowdy can you explain a bit more? I want to do CL but why would archemage not synergies with intensity? I’m not really familiar with archemage
@@gertrudehodgekins4543 still stuck on 5 link pledge, probably will be for awhile. Fusing's are still ridiculous expensive, like 200 for an ex.

Doesn't need it since the agnostic instantly heals him.

And I just found my league-starter, this build looks absolutely nuts! I haven't been this excited about trying a new build since Cyclone back in 3.7
Just remember this video is pre nerf, should still be good, but important to keep in mind!
akaVillaz yeah I know but considering how much flat damage we get from Archmage, I think the build will be fine. No one needs 15+ million dps anyway, even if it‘s 10+ after the nerfs, it will still be more than enough
The build is certainly still amazing even after the nerfs and should be excellent to start with and min max later. But man, that infinite mana loop just seems too gamey to me, dont know why
Its a little worse than BV It’s strong but rough
I'll be honnest, the build is very strong, but the mana flask spam, omg. My left hand is constantly flying over the keyboard, even with a lot of spells i've put directly on the mouse, i understand it can be too much for a lot of people. Moba players will be ok imo, the other ones could have issues very quickly. Give it a try if you got time, do not hesitate to get the best of your keyboard configuration to make things the easiest possible for you, gl.
@@LeandrysRX8 if you don't tell anyone you can make a macro that presses your mana flask 3 times per second ;)
@@Skeleton43 how
What you think about Sigil of Power? Should be nice addition right?
Carefull your experience will definitely be different from what you see here because of this 20 or 30% flat dmg nerf of ball of lightning gem for 3.12.... not the best video to put out there at this time if you ask me , still A+ for taking the time to do it ....
I didn't find this build that great in harvest. Good in some respects and not bad but no world destroyer. Defense was all about damage and ehp which can still get you squished. Felt more first character to maps than endgame. I hate dying though.
Are you dumb? The base dmg of the spell is irrelevant because of archmage. The base dmg is like
@@astronemir if you say so, then ill play another op starter just start with it i dont really care ^^
actually , i checked , archimage add, almost exactly what has been taking out from this gem... before calling out dumb ppl at least dont talk trash
You need to watch the video again to understand this or you need to train your English/reading comprehension.
that flask prefix is so a good idea. My archmage BV would be so more tanky in 1.11if I saw it sooner.
Die constantly it's very painfull ...
I'm not sure what would be the BIS replacement, but i feel like you could get a large, probably unnecessary damage boost from slotting in something else with a high mana multiplier?
you only use gmp for clearing and slower proj for better single
BigDucks is it possible to change this build to use frostbolt + ice nova CoC? it looks like it shouldn't be a problem, The pandemonius + circle of fear should be insane, herald of ice or hatred instead of wrath in the second ring
Would be cool if you could cast shock novas on the ball lightning like frost nova and frost bolt
I was actually wondering about leveling one of these.. Not used to a non-zoom build though, not sure how much I'll enjoy that
This build is awesome
Thanks for the content man
It's just muscle memory at this point. Got the flask up 100% of the map
Hey big fan of your guides, can you tell me what ascendancy points you take first? Goto the pathfinder node after cruel lab?
4me)
-Archmage
-SPS DMG
-Pinpont, no GMP switch and DMG
If I had a 6-link I would still use Lightning Pen.
Please Big Ducks update the guide to 3.13, this build so amazing!!
Quack, quack. What do you think about using the Cloak of Defiance instead? It's expensive at the start of the league, but are there any assumptions not to use it?
17:57 "You can use a Cloak of Defiance on a chest piece if you really want it too". Moreover, there is an option for CoD in PoB.
I should make FAQs

were is the skill tree
Is there any way to contact Big Ducks and ask questions about this build?
I just beat Sirus for the first time earlier today, and this build is very good (even though slow to come online effectively, I woulnd't define it a good league starter)
But there are some things untold, for instance I have no idea how to make the most out of the 6L in the armor
Depending on how many slots you have free, you could use it for an Archmage Storm Brand or Archmage Arc/Storm Burst Arcanist Brand for extra damage, kind of like using an ancestral totem when using a melee build.
I wouold slot a portal gem and use the extra slots to just level gems for currency. that's what I do.
training yourself to tap that mana pot all the time is the hardest part of this build. That alone is a little taxing almost makes me want to automate just pressing that flask button every .5 secs
I put a toggle on one of my mouse buttons to auto click it every .5 seconds... =p
YEEEEEEY Thanks for the update Duck
How do you avoid getting interrupted by attacks with this build? My spell repeats just get interrupted when a fast boss/mob gets into my face.
I don't know if there's a better way to get Interruption Resist, but I ran into the same problem and got some from the passive tree. There are probably better sources for this.
hey ducks, what about a medium cluster with cold conduction and stormrider? you get free power charges and 25% extra dmg with hits
Sounds like you need to cap your elemental resistances.
I had to resort to using a duplicate mana flask to stay alive. Pretty great now at level 91.
Because this build has negative survivability. It;s a meme.
I like the build but tis hard to heist really since you get hit your mana is gone even with the flask proceed right i assume its because i'm not using a staff yet and have to much cast speed and or not enough mana yet at 60.. So what is the most important stats until i get pledge on a staff that will rival the damage of wands?
Question to any one playing this build. If you don't have a 6 link what support skill would you take out while using a 5 link?
Imho lightning pen. taking out faster casting makes the build very clunky.
really good video! im serioursly thinking going this build. but im thinking what is the price of 6 link pledge first week of league? i think dying sun was 1 ex or so first week harvest (maybe more also tho dont member) , same with omeyocan boots i think.
can i kill a8 on budget gear?
im just thinking will this build let me farm up fast exalts in first week so i can start making new build pretty fast if i want too
nice content!

Just subbed -nice build man ;) rerolling now
Good build guide. I was thinking about playing this IF I decided to go SC, but I can't stand push one flask 2-3times per second ALL the time...
i cant load pathofbuilding i check for updates on it but still there is a warning u need to update pathofbuilding
I know it's a week old but you need the new application. Google Path of Building community fork.
