This example, Bouchard is playing a leftie, so I think it made sense for her to hit the cross court passing shot, and her opponent was towards the down the last side.
Very good strategy to slice right at them. Most club players don’t know how to effectively volley a ball that has a lot of slice coming to them. They usually dump it into the net.
@@2MinuteTennis Most club players their slice forehand is slower than their topspin forehand. And you want the ball dipping below the net. So I question (again) the effectiveness of hitting a slice at a net player.
You forgot to mention that the passing shot on cross also have to be maximum low above the net, and if you do not take it as a critic but my opinion about down the line is more efficient to be deep in a order to be harder to be reach....
Also: don’t play a slow ball into your opponents forehand when advancing to the net. I have been so many times at the receiving end of the cross court passing shot…

Cool shot. I’ve only ever executed this shot accidentally. Does the ball need to have more spin than power? Looks like a fun shot to practice. Thanks
Nice one Ryan... :)

On the dipping cross court passing shot, what do you think about finishing at the pocket instead of buggy whip to dip it more?
I my experience that actually levels out the swing while hitting and can give less topspin.
It’s a good technique. You need to go up and then rapidly down with the racket.
Hey Ryan, what’s your opinion on passing shots with slice or just slicing at a net player in general?

Hight cross court pass sits up for his or her chance to hit n realitivly easy forehand volley right?
