Amazingly explained.Helped a lot. This video deserve more views.Helped me a lot. Important pointers: 1. Don't avoid your opponent when they go to the net. 2. Hit high above the net so that your opponent won't get the ball on perfect height to hit back 3. Lob over the backhand.
Ryan, just wanted to thank you for your videos. I feel they have played a big part on my good results lately. Just last week, I applied a few of your singles strategies on a match, for example the "don't avoid your opponent when they go to the net" and the 2+1. The former made me win most of his approaches, which I was struggling with in the first set when I tried mainly lobbing. Lost that set mainly because of this and too many unforced errors. The latter worked as a charm, I didn't even need the +1 shot most of the time, since he consistently missed his shots when I aimed behind him. At some tough moments I could even hear you saying "You got this!" in my head 😄 In the end, ended up winning in 3 sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. I'm recommending your channel to all my club mates. Lots of thanks from Ireland 🙂
Wow victor!! I was so excited reading you comment. Thank you for trusting me to help your tennis and for letting me know you’re improving. The 2 1 and hitting to your net opp makes a world of difference and absolutely will help you to continue improving. Victor, you got this!!!
1) keep shots higher than the opponent - arc it. 2) Dictate play with your forehand, run around some of your backhands 3) High, deep backhand lobs 4) Sneak into the net after this shot --he called this one tip #3. 5) Vary your shots--keep the opponent guessing and off balance. Yes, all of the strategies win you more points! My tip: 6) Smile! You hit the ball so much better when you are relaxed and this invariably makes your opponent more tense!
Love this as always! I was up 5 3 with a solid player that's my level. I lost the set 5-7 because he got adjusted to my shots and pattern. I wish learned this lob to their backhand cause this would have done the trick for sure!
Excellent strategies... Makes sense to lob to weaker back hand even if it's within their reach, a higher than normal chance they will volley a weak or miss hit that shot, gaining time to reset your defense to attack mode. Taking a forehand rather than backhand 'only works' on a medium pace drive but not against a banger with a low, straight fast shot. No excuse to not improve backhand or learn to use two handed backhand and make that your strength against opponents who hasn't got a strong backhand. A lot of times paying attention how opponent starts his swing gives you indication what shot is coming at you and either move forward on a slice shot or move around a backhand shot.
I have a much better back-hand, much more consistent over my forehand. That makes me feel better about lobbing, makes sense to hit over their back-hand, keeping that one in mind. Thanks.
Sensational progressive points mentioned, seems that life/ tennis is a never ending journey of improvement powered by a strong sense of curiosity, which maintains your inner strength to enjoy the challenges of the future irrespective of your age
I got the FYB playbook with your link. I have to say, it is not only eye opening to my own game, but watching tennis is more enjoyable when you realize what the players are trying to achieve
I do mix up serves. Some times I just do the lamest 2nd serve as a 1st serve with a nice bounce rather than a flat serve and the receiver find that it drops so fast through their strike zone that they mash the ball as hard as they can into the net because they've had to rush in and hit it too hard when it's so low. The weird thing is that because the slow 2nd serve is so slow, it gives me time to move in to do the serve and volley. Nobody expects someone to serve and volley a second serve and they're not watching me move in so they don't just lob me.
I’m a lefty and one of the rarer people who got hit enough backend side it’s becoming more consistent than my forehand. It’s funny to see the frustration of my opponents with the thought written on his face, why the hack does this guys backhand keep coming back.
I don't go much around the backhand to hit with the forehand, just lazy I guess. But I think I find it easier go around it after hitting a good crooss-court backhand. Then I don't return all the way back to the middle and there is a greater chance that the ball will come back to my forehand side, or at least closer to it, even if it was aimed at my backhand. Does this make sense? Is it also a good strategy?
I'd love to implement these strategies, but as soon as I start a match all my hitting and movement skills vanish and i don't hit the ball at all. I cannot explain why, but my feet move clumsily, even though in training my footwork is one of my strongsuits.
Hi Eric. Thanks for letting me know. I’ve already contacted Will and his dev team is on it. I’ll keep you posted. Thank you SOOO much for letting me know.
Steve, you’re not quite right on this. An analogy follows the logic that A is to B what C is to D, and the strength of the analogy is measured by other criteria. The analogy could compare very different or very similar ideas. A metaphor is a statement that one this is another thing. A simile is when one thing is like another thing.
Issue im having is every time I hit higher over the net the ball goes long and out. And if I attempt to add top spin, it's definitely going out. Frustrating

Just won a match “above my level” using these strategies, especially high shots to his backhand. Wow!
Great job!! Beating better players always feels great. You got this, Douglas!!
Thanks!
Did this guy just assumed my backhand is my weak shot ? Well, let me tell you that not all players are the same, I'm weak on both sides.
you're confusing me now

You are soooo good, Ryan. I love your contents. I struggle with my finish all the time. I will have to come to your hometown for a few lessons.
I find the best content by far about tennis in this channel. Congratulations

I bought the singles playbook and honestly I love it! All of the plays make so much sense and I’m excited to implement them into my gameplay!
Just started playing 3.0 and these tips are great

Hey great video!
Could you explain to people the difference between strategy and tactics?! Or do you have a video talking about this? 😁 Thanks!
Hi,
How can i the strategy playing book/videos for single?
Brgds,
Steven
Do you have instruction on pattern play?
what a great video
I need that book please…
Regarding your second tip: what would you say to someone like me who's got a significantly better backhand than forehand?
Simply reverse the strategy. Play your strength.
@@2MinuteTennis thanx a lot for the quick answer!!
hi, i want to buy a table like you have...where i buy? thank you
Just in time! I'm now in a tournament, first time in my life. I'll try everything you told. Thank you.
Good luck and have fun. Enjoy the tourney

An analogy is an attempt to connect two very different ideas. A metaphor is simply a statement that thing 1 is similar to thing 2.
Soooo….which one was my driving story?
@@2MinuteTennis Analogy

Issue im having is every time I hit higher over the net the ball goes long and out. And if I attempt to add top spin, it's definitely going out. Frustrating
I think that’ll just come with time, keep doing it and I’m sure you’ll figure it out!
Run around and hit to backhand. Lob over opponents backhand side.
Doesn't following tip 1 make it easier for your opponent to beat you with tip 2 since you're giving them more time to run around their backhand?
No. Higher over the net gets the ball to land deeper making it harder for them to move around it. 👍
Also, if you run around a backhand that far into the back corner, you're leaving a ton of court open for your opponent to hit into.
play cross court and wait for shorter ball to attack.. boring , but usually it's enough to win a rally
my friend I play against, has his backhand like Shapovalov's...
I'm playing with a 14 yo girl, my coach's daughter. I'll fight to win 3 games in both sets
this book has a : how to beat the leftie
but can he help me win nadal ?
I was watching this and after about 10 min I figured this is about tennis not table tennis and was confused as to why are these tactics working...
Am I the only one who cant access the book link? "Your connection is not private"
I’ve contact fuzzy yellow balls about the issue. Should be resolved shortly. Thanks for letting me know!!
Ya sorry about that, we fixed the issue
