Good to see Antec back in the game. I have had a few Antec cases over the years, but that was a long time ago. They always had decent quality, from what I can remember. Thanks Steve and GN Team. @@MikeMcCarthy240sx OMG this is a 15y old case! Incredible! I just regret selling my P182 and my Sonata II, those were cases I had to keep! I am happy Antec is back in the game (I bought a performance 1FT and was pleasantly surprised )
Literally still using my Antec 900 right now. It's so old it still has the Firewire port on the front/top panel. Love this thing! Glad to see they're back!
I am SO GLAD to see Antec back. While I absolutely hated building in my 1200, it was a substantial case made with excellent components and material. Seeing their constant fumbles was difficult, to the point the local shop I was at stopped bringing in their hardware entirely. Seeing this review is making me consider a recase on my primary rig, especially with its current struggling GPU cooling capabilities. Love it.
I remember 20 years ago shopping parts for a new build. I was living near Paris and went to China town, or near by, where you can find numerous shops selling PC parts. At that time everybody wanted an Antec Sonata case, but shop after shop it was out of stock. Fortunately, a little shop had one in stock at a reasonable price. I bought it and on my way to the car, everyone was looking at me with an envious eye! 😁 Great time!
Was it the Sonata II? Cuz that was my first case haha. I recently saw one at a goodwill near me here in the states and I seriously thought about buying it. I didn't since I knew it was pure nostalgia driving that desire
I just re-read some reviews: most remark on the HUGE 120mm fan! We have come a long way. Mine still sits ten feet from me but needs some tlc. At some point later this year I plan on putting it and the rest of my first PC back together just for the nostalgia! At the end of its previous life I was having to lock the door with a suitably bent paper clip. 😢😃 That little plastic silver roll-up door for the front usb and headphone/mike sockets is about the only thing I'd have changed at the time - for metal; that little door kept the dust out and is something I've missed on later cases.
It’s definitely a nice addition. Currently I have the Antec Performance 1FT and the filter can also be pulled out on the front. They really are having a strong comeback
I actually bought this case a few months ago. I bought the fanless one since I had so many fans available to use. I think it's an incredible case for the price. I am ecstatic that Antec is doing well again. I remember when I was a kid, my uncle had an Antec 300, and I was blown away. Compared to our PC, it looked like a beast. In early 2016, my uncle gave me that case, and I used it for my first and second builds. I used it until 2023 I retired it for my third build. I thought it was an ATX case, but it wasn’t, a lesson learned to do more research before buying. After saving up, I got an Antec NX270 Elite, and I couldn’t be happier. I’ll definitely be buying Antec cases again in the future! ☺️
Antec are an amazing company and I am glad they are coming back to the mainstream. Around 20yrs ago I had a faulty psu and their rma process was painless, a brand new psu came back - which I still have in storage.
Antec! Brings back memories. I used the antec P160 for over 14 years. When it came to replacement, I couldn't find anything. Good to know they are back!
it is so so good to see antec and few older pc manufacturers coming back to life.... old dogs making a comeback.... antec sx1000 and antec twelve hundred v3 were my favorite cases
Glad you finally got around to reviewing this. Had the black version a month now and despite having to buy additional fans I'm so happy with it. Few niggles in the setup but relatively painless. For me it joins the Torrent in being an absolute joy to build in.
Didn't even know Antec was really around anymore. Had a couple of them in the 90's/early 00's. My first PC build in '97 was an Antec case with Antec PSU.
The Antec900 was a great case! That helicopter 32847239mm fan on the top! The liquid cooling pass-throughs in the back. A bagillion drive cages, or however many tape decks would fit in the slot. Good to see Antec tossing their hat back into the case market!
my current system is about 7 or 8 years old. And its starting to show its age with performance in video editing, as well as risking my youtube video data from aging drives. I just want to take the time to thank the GN team for your efforts in providing concise and unbiased infomation on hardware . I find your videos to be exceptional in quality as well as entertaining. After a 10 year hiatus from PC building, Ive been able to bring myself up to speed quite quickly and have so far binged the infomation you have provided in the last 4 years, as well as the bench marking charts on the GN site. It has allowed me to make some educated decisions on upgrading from a previous 4790k build, to a future proof modern system. The information provided corrected some choices i had previously made in error as well as saving me Hundreds by opening my eyes . I have chosen the C8 for my build , all components are currently in transit and will arrive monday :) .
I had a few Antec cases back in the 2000s and they were good cases, it was sad to see them go downhill. This case looks like a good start on a comeback.
You could mostly mitigate the CPU cooling starvation with back exhaust fan turning to intake, add on fan on top to be intake above the CPU cooler and the side fans(ones on the backplate) use for exhaust .All that with keeping the bottom fans as intakes for GPU. It could potentially lead to warm air from GPU fighting with Top intakes but CPU will most believably push warm air to side exhausts. I would love to see updated version of testing with this setup team ! Cheers
Antec is pretty known here in Italy and Europe, especially because of models like the DF700 FLUX. It was cheap, good quality, 5 fans, and could fit a 280 or 360 liquid freezer 2 on the top
Honestly, this is great news! I had an Antec 300 case back in the day, and the cooling performance on my 4790k & GTX 780 was amazing! It was a tank of a case that I was sad to see go when I upgraded my computer. Bring on innovation, welcome back Antec!
Havent used antec since antec 1100 back in the day. Antec was my go to in the early days. Then they really didnt make much for about 15 years case wise. Good to see them back!
Hey Steve, would love to see a C5 case review as well comparing it to the C8. Your new review methodology is top of class, thank you for your hard work with actually good humor 😊
My Antec 300 is still going, though has home server now. Inherited from my brother over 10 years ago when he switched to a bigger Antec case. Its amazing to see them back
I'm still using my Antec 902 with USB 2.0 headers for my main build today. I can't believe it fits every single new motherboard, air cooler, and GPU I've thrown at it, including a massive 3090 Ti without fitment issues. The black-painted interior makes the case still look remarkbly modern too.
Antec got my attention again when I was looking for prices for the InWin D-Frame case. Antec's new Striker and Cannon cases came up as "similar products you might like" with the search. Open loop cooling cases that integrate the chassis to include water cooling components as part of the outer case. Then when looking for fans, Antec has several that they recently released and seem to compete in the area that Arctic has been in. Good quality, good prices, good warranty, available as single and in packs of 3 or 5, different fans for pressure and airflow, and a slightly more premium tier also including ARGB versions.
I am so thankful to see GN back in the case review space again! I completely understand why there was a 2? year hiatus. Small note, who is the new person on camera doing the disassembly? Because they should be using a GN screwdriver, not a Craftsman. It's always the attention to detail that comes back to bite you. 😂 Caffeinator out.
Just built my first PC in March of this year and used an Antec Performance 1 and have absolutely zero issues with it! It was a complete breeze to build in, even as a first time builder
I loved my antec 300. Had fun modding in acrylic windows and uv tubes. Antec was such a big name in 2008. The unobstructed bottom intake is really cool and functional.
Good to see Antec getting back into things. Looks like a great competitor to the Lian Li O11 Dynamic Style. My last Antec case was a Antec 1200 back in 2010.
I just wanted to say how good Antec's aftersales support is. I bought a Performance 1 and it had a scratched left side panel from the inside (most probably due to the courier's incompetence plus it lacked the inside peel). I sent them an email, they replied immediately, they were really friendly, asked for a pic or two, sent me an RMA Form and the product number, and about a month later, when they received the panels (cos I am in EU), they sent me a brand new side panel which is in excellent condition. That's the way companies should operate. Asus , I am looking at you. I hope Antec becomes big again! Great review, Steve! PS: Performance 1, is a great GREAT case, which is a compact (yeah, that's how I can describe it) full tower that lacks only a fan controller (I think they should include a Fan controller rather than the temp readout, which is useless if your PC is on your desk :) )
Love seeing Antec back in the fold for cases. One of the first ones I ever had was the 300 Illusion, it was sturdy as hell & lasted me through at least 3-4 different upgrades/builds.
Chopped up, aka modded, many beige Antec cases in my youth, back when overclocking was actually giving you a substantial performance boost at the cost of your hearing as you needed LOUD delta fans to cool everything, good to see Antec back :)
I liked the way the C8 looked. I built my system in it with 3 360mm radiators. It had plenty of room for everything, and even push/pull fans on side and bottom.
My first Antec case (902 USB 2.0) was my only case. It's been serving me well for over 13 years of generations of hardware upgrades, without fitment issues (even with a massive 3090 Ti). When I upgrade, I buy used office cases to put my old hardware in to sell it, and I keep using my Antec case for new hardware. I don't understand why some people keep buying new cases every single time they upgrade (creating more e-waste), when there's nothing wrong with reusing your old one if you can.
As a Torrent owner this is really impressive and a great milestone for Antec getting back in the market. I use a torrent for my main pc but this would be perfect for a pc I wanted to show off a bit more aesthetically.
Built a lot of computers in the P180 series of cases. Used one for my own computer first and built the others for customers. Solid, quiet, decent looking and cool enough for workstation computers of the day. But it's easy to see why a lot of users today wouldn't know who they are or what they did. From the people I talked to the failure of the later Antec cases was that management wanted Bling over quality or function, and that ended the development of their cases. But it's a lot like asking young computer users about Zalman. They are not very likely to know about the Zalman CPU coolers which was a big deal back in the day. The design was pretty ingenious. Instead of using a solid block of metal and skiving fins in it or any other of the common techniques of the time they stamped thin sheets into shape. Put them in bunches compressing the part that was to go into contact with the CPU using aluminium brackets and screws and then milled the contact patch flat. The top of the sheets in the heatsink would be bent apart in different shapes depending on the design. These were very efficient, probably cheap to make, and could use combinations of materials. Hetsinks made this way could be make out of aluminum, copper or a mix of both depending on how efficient they had to be and the price. Yet they all used the same machines during manufacture. Only the metal of the sheets differed. The milled surface was interesting as it was hard to see that there were a lot of thin sheets pressed together. Instead it mostly looked like it was milled out of a single block even when there were both copper and aluminium sheets used. Zalman had some other interesting parts they made, though I don't think they got much attention. One of those was a USB HDD case. You inserted a SATA 2.5" drive and it could be attached as a USB drive. But it could also mount ISO images of CD or DVD drives as a separate drive. These were stored on the HDD (SSD wasn't a thing yet for normal consumers) in a special folder structure. I had one of these with Windows, BSD, Linux and a lot of other special bootable disks stored in ISO format so I could handle just about anything with that drive. It was nice and practical but I have never heard of anyone else that knew that Zalman had those. Zalman is still available but is usually forgotten, and certainly not as well known as they used to be.
Thank you for reviewing the C8. I hope you will do the Performance 1 soon. I also had the 900 in the past when I ran a DDR3 system and miss it to this day
My very first personally built PC was in a Antec 900. To this day it was probably the best case I've ever used for cooling. Would love to see a modern updated take on the Antec 900 in the future.
My first computer was built in an Antec 900. Q6600 & 8800 GTS 512MB. The cooling was so damn good that I could run a 1GHz overclock on the Intel stock cooler in that case. Happy to see theyre making a comeback!
I feel like the 160 mm fan placement at the bottom to be useful for this design from Antec, With my personal ownership of the Montech King 95/95 Pro, And the Lian Li Lan Cool 216 to be an excellently designed cases from inception. I find the King 95 just edges out Antec C8 in its versatile design and flexible and unique curved air/glass mode. Nice to see Antec making cases again. Thanks Steve!
I remember back in the day buying computer cases with built-in power supplies for like, $30 or thereabouts. And then I decided to buy my first standalone case and a separate power supply (remember those?), and the first case I bought was an Antec Three Hundred. You know what it's like when you don't know what you're missing until you try something else? It's like that "mind blown" meme. Sure, I was told long after the fact that there were better cases for the price out there, but I mean, we're talking 15ish years ago and I didn't know where to find a lot of this information back then. (Now you can just type the name of the case in question and "review" into your search engine of choice and get back lots of results.) And then, after cases, they were mostly known for power supplies, and then they essentially fell off the face of the planet. Glad to see they're back with some good solid components again!
So happy to see case reviews again. I would like to see a comparison video from the high end makers like Antec, Fractal and what knot, against off brands like MUSETEX and DIY. Just to see what you'll think.
Fuuny how this appears 3 days after i built my rig in one (black version no Fans) i went with 3 x 140mm Thermaltake Swafans on bottom 3 x 120mm swafans on the side all on reverse blades and a 360 nn Antec Vortex AIO and i have to say i am really pleased with the build asthetically and for the cooling and temps
So many people saying glad Antec are back, I didn't see them go!...🤣🤷🏻♂️ Got myself an Antec cube and another case I forget the name of from them🤔 Also they have a particular style of 'prizm' ARGB fan that has *stunning* effects and a very decent thermal/noise ratio running - thats several years old now but was a pretty new product for them too. Glad to see them putting out even more quality cases! 🤓✨
Genuinely impressed and excited by this case, Antec have made some kick as cases in the past, my 1200 STILL going well all these years later. Really good to see them come back. It's about time we had more competition from a actually good company not some unknown new comer who just cheaply clones other peoples designs. Yes I realise people may view this case as a clone, but it was a GOOD clone. Their years of experience in the game finally showing. I'm not in the market for a new case but will definitely consider this one in the future
I must admit, I always watch cases reviews even though I've got a newer one just for the thermal/noise charts and to see my sweet sweet Torrent case still be at the top after all this time.
Say a prayer for Steve as he continues his battle with a rare condition that causes him to immediately start ripping panels off of any pc cases within arms reach lol Love you guys; thanks for your hard work!
Loved my Antec P182 back in 2007. It was my first premium case. And it certainly felt premium. To this day I’ve never had a case with thicker panels. Was 150 bucks which was 3x a budget case then and would probably be more like 300 bucks today.
The Antec Super Lanboy was my first case too. I loved the carrying straps it came with and the screw/tool drawer. Great for the time but even a 10.5" GPU was extremely difficult to fit into it and it had to go.
My first case in 2000 was an Antec and it was a HUGE tower, almost 1m in height! Just in case you needed to have 5 CD-burners and 15 internal harddrives :)

Hey Steve, would love to see a C5 case review as well comparing it to the C8. Your new review methodology is top of class, thank you for your hard work with actually good humor 😊
Welcome back, Antec! My first case
My Antec 300 is still going, though has home server now. Inherited from my brother over 10 years ago when he switched to a bigger Antec case. Its amazing to see them back
Antec 900 gang reporting in, still have mine in storage, love that case
I'm still using my Antec 902 with USB 2.0 headers for my main build today. I can't believe it fits every single new motherboard, air cooler, and GPU I've thrown at it, including a massive 3090 Ti without fitment issues. The black-painted interior makes the case still look remarkbly modern too.
Same case I instantly thought of when he said the last antec case he used was in 2008.
Yep, still got one stored away too. First case I ever built a PC in.
Caffeinator out.
Happy to see Antec back in the game, I loved my Antec 900.
Just built my first PC in March of this year and used an Antec Performance 1 and have absolutely zero issues with it! It was a complete breeze to build in, even as a first time builder
The folded over steel is called a "HEM"
I love it, seeing Antec hungry for the crown again. I love their novelty cases as well.
Good job on this case Antec, thanks for showing it to us GN!
I loved my antec 300. Had fun modding in acrylic windows and uv tubes. Antec was such a big name in 2008. The unobstructed bottom intake is really cool and functional.
Bought a C8 ARGB in black. Wonderful case, no complaints thus far. Antec really knocked it out of the park.
Good to see Antec getting back into things. Looks like a great competitor to the Lian Li O11 Dynamic Style. My last Antec case was a Antec 1200 back in 2010.
Ahh.... the 900. The only case I used across multiple builds. One of my favorite cases and LOVE seeing Antec back in the game.
One of the first ones I ever had was the 300 Illusion, it was sturdy as hell & lasted me through at least 3-4 different upgrades/builds.
the antec 900 and 1200 are legendary. always happy to see older brands come back.
Excellent testing as always. Big props to the GN team and to you Steve! Hoping for a upcoming review of the new NZXT H7 Case (2024 Edition)
Chopped up, aka modded, many beige Antec cases in my youth, back when overclocking was actually giving you a substantial performance boost at the cost of your hearing as you needed LOUD delta fans to cool everything, good to see Antec back :)
Built my first ever PC inside an Antec Super Lanboy, good to see them make a re-appearance at last!
So glad to see Antec back in the game, loved their cases... uhhh, near 20 years ago.
Lol I came to see if the bots all had butt photo's and I was not disappointed, haven't watched yet 😂
Wonder what kind of cooling they use on those
Just reported one with boobs bigger than bowling balls, their comment had more than 2 dozen likes
As a Torrent owner this is really impressive and a great milestone for Antec getting back in the market. I use a torrent for my main pc but this would be perfect for a pc I wanted to show off a bit more aesthetically.
Its good to see Antec upping its game once again.
I have the antec performance silent 1 and it is amazing. it is a really nice quality case! i'd gladly buy another antex case in the future.
My favorite case of all time, also the first enthusiast case I ever reviewed was the Antec Nine Hundred.
Thanks Steve!
as an owner of the antec c8 i love this case it looks lovely is easy to build in and high quality rare antec w
I got an Antec Minuet for my dad's computer a long time ago. I still have it and I'm thinking about using it for a future build.
(Now you can just type the name of the case in question and "review" into your search engine of choice and get back lots of results.)
And then, after cases, they were mostly known for power supplies, and then they essentially fell off the face of the planet. Glad to see they're back with some good solid components again!
I've recently purchased the Antec Performance 1 FT and its a great case.
Antec 900 was my case in the day, glad they are back
My last antec was antec nine hundred, loved that case
It's really nice to see Antec making good products again!
Been around since late 80s. Still love antec always will!!!
So happy to see case reviews again. I would like to see a comparison video from the high end makers like Antec, Fractal and what knot, against off brands like MUSETEX and DIY. Just to see what you'll think.
Fuuny how this appears 3 days after i built my rig in one (black version no Fans) i went with 3 x 140mm Thermaltake Swafans on bottom 3 x 120mm swafans on the side all on reverse
blades and a 360 nn Antec Vortex AIO and i have to say i am really pleased with the build asthetically and for the cooling and temps
good to see antec is being a serious competitor in the PC case market again.
I'm pretty impressed by what I'm seeing for the price. I'd love to see Antec come back
So many people saying glad Antec are back, I didn't see them go!...🤣🤷🏻♂️ Got myself an Antec cube and another case I forget the name of from them🤔 Also they have a particular style of 'prizm' ARGB fan that has *stunning* effects and a very decent thermal/noise ratio running - thats several years old now but was a pretty new product for them too.
I built a system in an Antec 900 back around 2007 or so and recall liking it quite a lot.
I love it when Steve reads marketing. Companies need to read their marketing more and tone it down.
I must admit, I always watch cases reviews even though I've got a newer one just for the thermal/noise charts and to see my sweet sweet Torrent case still be at the top after all this time.
I love every Gamers Nexus video, thanks Steve and Gamers Nexus
Back to you Steve.
Antec cases are great. Building in two antec cases for christmas
Say a prayer for Steve as he continues his battle with a rare condition that causes him to immediately start ripping panels off of any pc cases within arms reach lol Love you guys; thanks for your hard work!
ive always loved and wanted the two bottom intake fans, the idea that hot air rises, funnily enough i have never bought one but always want one
I'm still running an Antec "TruePower New" 750W power supply from 2010. Keeps my 5700X/6800XT build happy.
I really kinda like the labelling on the various components. It's pretty neat!
Loved my Antec P182 back in 2007. It was my first premium case. And it certainly felt premium. To this day I’ve never had a case with thicker panels. Was 150 bucks which was 3x a budget case then and would probably be more like 300 bucks today.
Believe it or not, I was still using an Antec 300 up until this week, but finally upgraded. Went with the Lancool III and I am really stoked about it
The Antec Super Lanboy was my first case too. I loved the carrying straps it came with and the screw/tool drawer. Great for the time but even a 10.5" GPU was extremely difficult to fit into it and it had to go.
Just finished my watercolled build in the C8 black version, one off the best cases have build in very easy and lots off room
Those Antec 900 cases were everywhere for a while. I had one too.
I had an Antec Lanboy case back in the day. It was great at the time.
I was a huge Antec fan for a while. Had a P1 for a long time.
you're actually helping me to choose a new case.... thank you very much 👍👍
I just recently spent $100 to buy an Antec Nine Hundred case on eBay. Best case I've ever owned (excluding top-end Lian Li cases).
My first case in 2000 was an Antec and it was a HUGE tower, almost 1m in height! Just in case you needed to have 5 CD-burners and 15 internal harddrives :)
loving bottom-up intake picking up pace. hoping to see a lancool 207 review soon
