JT also played very solid defense and was clearly the Celtics’ leader on the floor. JB was a close second but JT was just better.

Been a Celtics fan since 2012. I have followed the team as it was starting to fall apart and needed to rebuild. Went from Rondo and Green to the IT days and his iconic 2017 run, to the Irving trade and the potential the team began to show before falling apart. Rebounding with Walker for a bit, then collapsing and feeling that it was over, they had squandered two bright young careers. The miracle turnaround of 2022, the frustration of having a team so good yet so constantly toying with their food last year, to finally this year, a great mix of incredible offense and magnificent defense. I would be lying if I said I had no doubts. I'm on record writing that I was worried about their reliance on 3 pointers. But, they got it done, and did so in incredible fashion. I was jumping up and down my house on my healing ankle because I just couldn't contain myself. Waking up at 2 AM to watch ball is not easy, but so worth it when it's the result

I think something like 64% of NBA fans and 75% of pundits picked the Mavericks heading into the series. That never made sense to me. Yes, the Mavs played really well the last few months of the season. But the gap between their performance and the Celtics' was still massive. People really overthought this one. It felt like the Celtics were being judged on previous versions of the team. I'm not sure that making six of eight conference finals should ever count as a "failure," but that's how NBA discourse operates. Add in that Boston was really good at taking away everything Dallas did best, and I didn't understand why they were such a trendy pick. Sometimes when a team shows you they're better than everyone else all season and all playoffs, you should believe it. There's a reason they were the heavy Vegas favorite.
The Celtics played like a true team this year. Contributions coming from all over the roster. Tatum and Brown are completely unselfish leaders. Joe Mazzulla and Brad Stevens did a fantastic job.
Yeah I think we all over thought this Boston team because they are Boston and a lot of people hate them. This team was pretty much the best team in the NBA season all year and unlike past teams they just looked completely locked in from the jump and they past every test put in front of them. Massive credit to Brad Stevens who had the patience to keep this team together and then get Jrue and KP to make them such a talented team that could beat nearly every roster in the playoffs. Also Joe Mazzalua has improved so much as a coach in a short period of time. Very fitting that the youngest head coach to win a championship since Bill Russel is another Celtic. Just honestly a wonderful story that I think sports fans can really appreciate it now that it’s over.
I'm sad the season is over. Winning it all is nice, ending the season on a win instead of a loss like every other year/team (except those that don't make the playoffs, but that's a loss unto itself) is nice. I like watching the games though, and ring or no ring, the season is over. Aside from summer league, I gotta wait 4 months to watch my team play again and that sucks.
This team will only get better coz winning that championship is like beating a boss in Dark Souls and gives a lot of experience. I expect to see them again in the next Finals probably against the Nuggets.

I think the Nuggets or Warriors will win the championship next year I and a Warriors fan so I want the Warriors to win Next year but mostly like it will be Nuggets or Celtics but I will say it will be the Nuggets because it will be hard to go back to back .

nah, Jaylen brown fully deserves finals mvp. Cone focuses on numbers way too much sometimes. He has less pts, assists, and rebounds but most of the clutch moments whether on offense or defense fell to him throughout this playoffs run and throughout this series. Yes jason tatum demands offensive pressure but it really has fallen to jaylen every time to be the clutch player that tatum is not.

I think it’s high time we have a very serious conversation about Joe Mazzulla's place among the pantheon of the current great coaches of today's NBA. I get it when you have a team where your superstar can relax with scoring 21 points inefficiently because he knows he's got a co-star who can take over right there with him and their role players are capable of doing just the same on any given night, of course you're gonna have to look at it kinda side eye. But take a look at how this team plays, how they think, and their mentality on the way they close games, it's obvious this was the work of the head coach being able to band together a bunch of egos into buying into a single goal which is to win a championship. During an interview with JT, he said Joe has them playing each game with the mindset along the lines of "the closer you are to winning, the closer you are to losing", that's what really solidified Mazzulla for me as one of the great coaches of today's NBA. His basketball philosophy is weirdly contradictory to him being the analytical sociopath that we know him as, but Mazzulla ball truly is an elite system, so much so that the players talk about it without a joking tone and take it seriously which is a vast 180 from the way they played around him being their HC just a year ago. We can even compare this to the 2019 Celtics, who from a talent perspective should have been the one to stand up to the Warriors out west, and look how even Brad Stevens, who has proven he's one of the great coaches of the modern era as a whole, failed to get his guys to buy into his system as they underwhelmed that season. Along the lines later, Brad ended up losing all control of that squad where he felt comfortable leaving the head coaching to become the head of basketball operations instead which proves just how hard it was for Joe to accomplish this feat with this specific team.
It is a disappointing finals yes the better team won but who knew Irving for Dallas was going to disappear in Boston by only averaging what 15 points a game.
Based on the team assemblance before even the playoffs, I already knew this team was going to win at all. Was in fact, pretty predictable, especially with all of the Eastern superstars injuries..
