Thank you for another interesting and informative talk on the city I thought I knew something about. It appears the older I get, the less I really know. Looking forward to seeing the next installment.

I do like how often you use football pitches in order to compare sizes lmao. Cheers for another video. Until I found your channel I didn't really care much for the history of the city that I've spent over two decades living in.

Having recently watched some videos by Matthew Morris about some of the roman archaeology in Leicester, this video has built on what I learned there. Great stuff!

It's wonderful to know what history we are walking on. I wish there could be a glass top so that what was left of the history could be seen. Very interesting as always. Were the knights hospitalers also something akin to the Masonic order. Thankyou James x

The Knights Hospitaler were a militant order of the medieval catholic church, along with their brethren of the Knights Templar. When the Templar Knights became to powerful in France, the Pope ordered their eradication (supposedly on Friday 13th, hence the superstition around the date). Such a demise led to rumour and speculation about pockets of knights that survived in secret, using symbols and signs to signify their allegiance. Such rumours grew over the centuries, leading to many a conspiracy theory. Like the Masons though, any such conspiracies have never been proven. Yet! ;0)

@@HiddenHistoriesofLeicester societies with secrets. But I do know that the Masonic brethren have lodges named knights templar and knights hospitalers.
I liked the information about Jubilee square once being the area where there was an exercise hall before going for an early bath at the Jewry wall baths.
