I worked for a guy who had an older 3200hr cat 299c high flow xps and man it was a badass machine. He had a br172 brush cutter that I used to mow fields and brush. The older cat would overheat after 15 minutes. Completely full of dirt and dust. Nobody maintained the 299c. He also had a big fecon mulcher head that he wanted me to use but I never took that shredder off
I have a 299C with similar hours. I run an FAE mulcher on it about 75% of those hours. It has never overheated, but the slobber bottle overflows when the hydraulic oil get hot because both cooling systems share the same radiator. Aside from that and a poorly designed a/c system, that C model is a beast. Probably by the end of this year, I will be upgrading my skid steer. (That's how I found this channel.) Right now, it's either going to be a new 299, or the Takeuchi. But if Cat hasn't improved the cooling for the engine and hydraulics, or the design of the a/c, I will be switching teams.
@@jeffmayeux1692 I relocated. And there is product support for Cat 20 minutes away. There is no product support for Takeuchi within several hundred miles. So....I stayed with Cat. I am happy so far. Cat hasn't changed much, but the A/C and air intakes are better. I have enough hours in Cats that I know how to keep it from overheating. I do think the Takeuchi has a better cooling system though. And if you think you're going to need a new machine within the next year, order now. It takes quite a while to get the big ones.
Awesome set up, look forward to more videos
Thanks, looking forward to some dry weekends so I can get back to work.
Nice purchase. Great machine!
Thanks, we cleared a lot of property today.
got the same set up....try to feed into RH side the draw into shoot for high speed mulching action....good luck sir
I hope you like it as well as I like mine. God Bless
On the eighth day God created the Caterpillar Corporation
That is so impressive
Thanks for watching. It was definitely one of the best purchases I've made.

Thanks for your input, no overheating so far. I have about 150 hours on it without issue, so I'm still loving it.

@@mattphillips1910 did you go with the Cat or the Takeuchi?

Wow pretty impressive, thing was sucking in whole trees like wet noodles
I'm pretty impressed with it. Considering getting a mulching head to mulch what the brush cutter leaves behind.
More (and longer) videos with the BRX 418 please!
What type material are you wanting to see me working in? Thanks for watching.
What does the cutting head look like?
I posted a new video to answer your question. I hope you find it helpful.
