  • Having removed the carbs from the bike now it's time to get them stripped. A change of venue sees me back in my normal garage working with good light and space.
This video is definitely not a 'how to' video. Although I have mechanical experience, I haven't stripped and cleaned many motorcycle carbs in my time (thankfully because I haven't needed to)so I wouldn't profess to have any great knowledge of this operation. I'm only doing this out of necessity due to the fact that the petrol was pouring out of No4 carb onto the floor thus rendering the bike unusable.
I will have to admit that the video isn't exactly wildly exciting unless you're going to repair your own VFR carbs and want to see what is involved but I'll hopefully make a few more biking videos when I get back on the road.
In the meantime, sit back and enjoy/get bored/fall asleep/shout at the screen..... whatever floats your boat!
    Thanks for watching, Alistair.

Not only are you helping me getting through my carb rehab on my VFR, you are also teaching us a masterclass on how it works. Great job 😁

Hello David, I am very glad that my videos helped you to overhaul your carburettors. Sometimes it is very difficult to exactly what has to be done, thats why I made the videos.
      Greetings from Northern Ireland!

I’m about to do this on my RC36 - this task/sub project is a biggie one for me - can’t wait 🙏
I also sold mine and am buying it back from him - - she has been standing for sometime unused = won’t start (methinks bunged up carbs ? 🙏)
    Greetings from. 🇿🇦

I wish you luck Capt. As long as things aren't broken it should be ok. Have fun!

Just about to do my Vf750f carbs, bought the bike as a non runner, carb fuel leak. Found out that’s because the fuel pipes between 3&4 wasn’t there! Similar to vfr though. Numerous springs missing from the linkages too. It’s lucky we eat take out, hope this system works as well with Indian plastic bowls. Wish my carbs Look as good as yours do.

Good man Kevin, I wish you luck. I had a VF750FD back in 84. It was virtually new then. I ended up trading it in to the local Honda dealer for the VFR because nobody else would touch it due to camshaft problems. It never gave me any bother and was a very quick bike for its day. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Please tell me what level of fuel should be in the float chamber, the distance from the edge of the float?

    • @AlistairCampbell1047cc
      @AlistairCampbell1047cc  10 місяців тому

Hello Igo. The fuel level is controlled by the float height. The correct float height 7mm. I hope this helps.

In deep Jim! I'm having a lot of bother with my elderly PC. Three hours to strip the carbs and twelve hours to make a short video. Crazy.

I know the feeling, I edit my videos and then upload them when I'm sleeping, sometimes they take to lunchtime next day to upload, lol.

Another nice vid Alistair. Great description and telling it in later man's terms. Hard to believe the vfr is 34 years old at this stage. Cant wait till the next CID. Cheers again.

Can see your lawn very well but can't see the carbs at all unfortunately. Filming against the window has ruined the footage. Best of luck with the bike.
