- Sam and Kev head off on a day trip, starting with a drive up to the Cobb Valley Reservoir in the Kahurangi National Park.
First stop, after a quick short walk, is at Myttons Hut.
This is followed by a two hour climb to Lake Peel.
After stopping for a quick lunch they decided to continue their journey to Balloon Hut, before returning to the car park at the start of the track.

Awesome! Can't beat Kahurangi. ❤
Thanks, Rachel. Kahurangi is definitely our favorite National Park to.
Great Video, Brilliant Weather, thanks for sharing
Thanks, Tony. It was a super day, and there were plenty of people out the track enjoying it while we were there.
Great video guys. I had the pleasure to finally visit here in February, although I came from the south, so was awesome to see Lake Peel. Thanks for another good one
Thanks, Revilo. One day, we need to all catch up and head out on a tramp together.
Sounds great. In hindsight I should have got in touch when I was down in the Nelson area, but my plans changed every day! Will be keen next time
Hey new subscriber here..awesome video lads .will catch you on the next one guys😊..benny
Cheers, Benny. Hope you enjoy the next one when it gets posted.
Great video lads. This may be a silly question, but what do you do if you encounter a vehicle coming the other way on the road in? It looks very narrow, with quite a sharp drop-off
That's a very reasonable question. There are quite a few areas where one car can pull over while the other goes past. The main thing is to not drive too fast.
Thanks, good to know! Me and the old man are looking at heading up to Sylvester hut for a night next month
Nicely filmed guys.
I’m in Nelson for Easter Friday to Saturday afternoon with NO plans. Would you have an opening for a North Island kiwi to join you in part or full on a day or overnight adventure?
Thanks, Dave. A day/overnight tramp in Easter would be awesome, but unfortunately, Sam and I have both got holidays booked in with the families. Let us know next time you are down in the mainland, and we can work something out then.
@@samandkevsoutdooradventures pity, so for a 8hr type hike (might have car but should be able to be dropped off and picked up) what route would be my best bank for buck please?
@OutdoorsmanDave if you have 8hrs and need something close(ish) to Nelson, I’d consider Rocks Hut, Speargrass Hut, Coldwater Hut, Bull Paddock Creek Hut, Lees Creek Hut, Pearce Resurgence, or Starveall Hut. Lots of other options but quite a few areas are closed at present due to fire risk/forestry/ or road damage. Any questions let me know. Sam
I’ve sent you a DM via Instagram, need local advice please
