    For a streamer guy you have designed a couple of my favorite dry fly styles the tilt wing has just been magic for me from the first one I tied. Thanks.

    Thanks for doing all these instructional videos. I’ve been wanting to convert my fishing game to fly for many many years. These videos helped me make the decision to take it to the next level. Hopefully I’ll make it up to Montana and thank you in person for all the great info. Just ordered all the basic tools from you and hopefully in a week or 2 I’ll be tying some beginner flies!!! This stuff is fascinating!!!! I think I’ve watched almost all your videos at least once.

    Best instructional content for tying and all things fly fishing. Keep it coming please. I’m a junkie for your videos. Been looking forward to this one since the last. Can you please do some classic wet fly patterns soon?

    Don't need no stink'n wax.
    When tying with nano or power silk (gsp) I start wrapping about two hook eyes from the eye. While holding the tag end I wrap toward the eye then back over those wraps to the tag. You can now cut the tag or continue to the curve of the hook. I've found this works for me and holds tight.

    Are you attaching a small section of fluorocarbon to the hook to break the line under the surface to avoid the refracted light problem and then mono thereafter?

  • @academicmailbox7798
    @academicmailbox7798 3 роки тому

    Kelly, you could try a 'back to front' version of this fly.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 3 роки тому

      In this fly. In particular. Where the turkey feather body. Is wound towards the hook eye (instead of the bend). And the deer hair wing. Is tied in. At the other side. Before the bend.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 3 роки тому

      In other words. The exact opposite. To how a Klinkhammer fly. Would work. The hook and bend. Would actually be. Towards the surface. And some of the fly (in other words, hatching emerger way would extend back down into the water). You would still have. The fore arms. Of the emerging up-winged dry fly. Pointing forward. However, the entire dry fly. Would be tied in reverse fashion. To how it is done. Here.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 3 роки тому

      What I would do then. Is rather than having the long tail fibers. Coming from the end of the hook. Where the eye is. Simply move the 'tail' Coq de Leon tail fibers. To where the 'thorax' is. In the fly. So that the turkey feather body. Is the only thing. That is pointing down. Towards the hook eye. And you still have. The Coq de Leon fibers. Extending both in the front. And rear side. Of the dry fly.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 3 роки тому

      And just before the hook bends. You can insert. The superfine floating dubbing thorax. The 'trigger point' spent wing. And the deer hair up wing too. So all that is un-supported. By the wings and thorax. Is that part of the fly. That is extending back down. Into the water. As an emerging dry fly pattern. Would do.

    • @academicmailbox7798
      @academicmailbox7798 3 роки тому

      This 'back to front'. Version of this dry fly. Is the kind of fishing fly. That I think. I would have. An awful lot more fun and enjoyment. From drifting it down. Over some fish (who may be in the mode, where the have chosen to ignore the full winged dry flies). And I think. That with this idea. Of having some of the hook and hook eye. Underneath the water anyhow. You have traveled most of the journey. Towards making. A dry fly emerger. Such as the one. That I describe.
