Thanks for doing a mid level trim review(EX). All the other in depth reviews I've seen are for the super expensive ELITE level.. who really needs a $50K van with a vaccuum in it?
I like your review and how you get up close and actually touch everything lol. Most are too far away to actually see the little particulars of the vehicle.
Lane departure only works when you're going between 45 and 90 miles an hour. That's why it kicked in at 45mph when he was basically already in the other lane. He's also wrong about what sport mode does - it gives more acceleration at the expense of fuel efficiency, and it changes how the steering wheel reacts.
Thank you Geoffrey for your feedback. The First Gear series is slightly different than a normal walk around video. In this series, David explores a vehicle for the first time much like a normal consumer would on their own. He is not a salesperson and he does not know much more about the vehicles than a normal person off the street. This series is designed that way so that you can see how most people would learn the new features of the vehicle. If you are looking for a more detailed review of the Odyssey, check out our other series called "Ride Along" with Sales Person Justin Thompson. Enjoy! ua-cam.com/video/H4oESxxP-Mc/v-deo.html
Thanks for watching, Syed! Our "First Gear" series of videos is designed so the viewer watches and discovers along with our host. There is no "home work," since our host explores the vehicle as if he's a regular customer walking onto a car lot to shop. You may be more interested in our series "Smail Ride Along" where the viewer goes on a test drive with a trained Smail salesperson. Here's the Odyssey episode: ua-cam.com/video/H4oESxxP-Mc/v-deo.html
Video answers some questions, but this guy sadly, looks very foolish as he doesn’t understand the vehicle features one bit. Not the guy I want to buy a vehicle from....he seriously needs viewers to explain what a bag hook is used for? And the best part is when he takes out the center seat and sets it in the parking lot. With a gray cloth interior? Not the brightest bulb on the tree....
Luckily, he is not a salesperson so you would never be buying a car from him! This series was simply to explore the vehicle from the perspective of an every-day buyer, checking out all the little things for the first time.
It's new wheels is so completely similar to the old Mazda 5-spoke rims back from 2002 through 2008 like the RX-8's or Mazda3's, the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8's, or maybe even the Dodge Dart GT's. I guess. Well, I miss the 2000's 5-spoke Mazda rims so much... :(
Our series "Smail Ride Along" might be more your speed then, FF. In it we have our trained Smail salespeople doing the reviews and demonstrations while going on test drives. You can find our Odyssey episode here: ua-cam.com/video/H4oESxxP-Mc/v-deo.html
Thanks for watching Kevin! This was my first time in an Odyssey of any year, so everything was new to me! Our First Gear series of videos is designed as a customer shopping experience that way, so prospective buyers can see vehicles in detail. Part of the fun, for me, is discovering the hidden features like secret compartments or uniquely placed bag hooks.
Thanks for watching, Tha! Our "First Gear" series is aimed at an audience of shoppers, so it's designed with that in mind. Our host isn't a trained car salesman, he goes through the vehicles just like a shopper would, learning as we go. If you're interested in more technical reviews, we have those too! Our series "Smail Ride Along" is a similar review and test drive show, but it's done by our sales staff. Here's the one for the 2018 Odyssey: ua-cam.com/video/H4oESxxP-Mc/v-deo.html Enjoy!!
I had heard they were doing away with cd players www.forbes.com/sites/hughmcintyre/2017/03/02/the-time-has-come-to-say-goodbye-to-the-cd-player-in-new-american-cars/#45618e362e88
We can understand your concern. However the gear selectors are located on the front dash, right below the infotainment screen. Any child properly secured in a car seat in the second or third row would have no chance of reaching the controls. Thanks for watching!

He’s excited because it has 2 sliding doors that open when you pull the handle. He is also amazed that the back doors have roll down windows

It’s a purse hook lol can also be use for a garbage bag. 😂
Really like the way this minivan looks.
They do drive a little boat-like FYI
I wonder if the middle row of seats is easy to remove or stow so u can use the extra room like a Grand Caravan.
Dan Gunn they remove
The Subaru Ascent has the rear mirror on the sunglass storage compartment that allows you to monitor the passengers in the back.
