I THINK BOBBY OSBORNE HAS THE PUREST BLUEGRASS VOICE I'VE EVER HEARD&WITH SONNY'S HARMONY&BANJO PLAYING THEY WILL ALWAYS BE AN INSPIRATION TO FUTURE BLUEGRASS MUSICIANS&SINGERS.
Can't believe I've found this???? This was a track on the very first album my parents bought me as a kid, and I'm 51!!! Absolutely blown away, damn those memories hit you right between the eyes. Absolutely first class... what a song! Thank you so much dude.
This is the best rendition of this song I've ever heard, and I've heard them all over the past 50 yrs. Much better than even Bill Monroe's, live or recorded.
I first heard Mule Skinner Blues by the Osbourne Brothers 44 years ago as a young boy. Bobby's voice mesmerized me way back then, and still does, and in my opinion, the Osbourne Brothers' interpretation of Jimmie Rodgers' Mule Skinner Blues is the definitive rendition.
Bobby Osborne won a purple heart in the Korean war. Thank you sir for your service to this country. There are probably a few bluegrass singers who can sing as high as Bobby. John duffey and Donny catron of the Tennessee gentleman to name a couple but I never heard anyone who could hit that high of a note and hold it for so long, what a talent and American treasure.
It’s my day off, and I just told my boss I’d work for free after hearing this song! If you don’t feel this song in your bones, you need to call the doctor you might be dead
This song is played now in remembrance of Zola Muzick a good ole Kentucky girl and one of the best ladies I ever had the pleasure of knowing. God bless you lady..Love Dale Ann
Listening to different versions after watching Ken Burns Country Music on PBS. This one is great! Not sure if this or Dolly's is better, but both are such fun to listen to!!
God i love these guys! sorry it took to age 69 to "discover" them....i love em as much as Stanley Brothers, maybe more....well, thank god you can like difference!" Thanks to the Pressley Sisters of NC Appalachia for finding them...
I love this cover of This song 🎵. Bobby owns it!!!!! Bill Monroe sang it best till I herd this 😮Wow !!! All respect to Bill . But Bobby is the best Bluegrass singer l ever heard!😊❤
What do you think of that live Dolly Parton version from the Porter Wagoner Show? I think its super sweet. Not like my meat and potatoes Blue Grass, but a nice treat on top, you don't have to do any work. Just don't need the sugar all the time now!
+whitebluesky: Steve ACTUALLY said "there's no room in profanity for bluegrass." And I'd point out that, growing up amongst Bob&Sonny, King Jimmy, John Duffey, Charlie Waller et c. (My dad was in the Seldom Scene and took us kids to almost all the festivals), they used a lot of profanity off stage, but believed it tacky onstage and hardly ever did.
Just when ya think you've heard the best version of this song, you hear this. Wow..Cheers from New Zealand!
check out "ruby" and "kentucky" and of course, "rocky top"
It doesn't get any better than this

+CYNTHIA BOHANNON A voice like Bobby Osborne's comes along only once in a lifetime....he is unequalled.

Nobody to compare with them. Absolutely the best.

This is the best rendition of this song I've ever heard, and I've heard them all over the past 50 yrs. Much better than even Bill Monroe's, live or recorded.

It's late 2020 and this rendition makes me forget all the world's problems.
The best version of this song by far!
10-4 on that
Bill Monroe's version is better, imo. Check it out if you haven't heard it yet. ua-cam.com/video/tiRu03RgSWw/v-deo.html
@@genghiskhan7041 I still like this version better, but just think if Kenny Baker sat in on this.
Still partial to the Fendermen but this version is great too.
This is one of the greatest Bluegrass performances I have ever heard. Whenever I need a fix, I come here.
Sonny osbournes back up banjo is second to none ,his variety syncopation, just awesome
Something about The Osborne Brothers bluegrass version just slaps hard, in a great way!! 🕺💃🤸♂️
High & lonesome. By the excellent Bobby Osborne !

Dang it Bobby is one of the best singers ever. I wish I could sing half as good as him!

First heard this in the early sixties and still remains without question the best version of this song I have ever heard.

I strongly agree
Heard this many times when I was young (50 years ago) but never heard it sung this pure. Impressive!

Try Merle Haggard, and old Jimmie Rodgers.
These and the fendermen are the best on playing this tune by far ..brill
Good Lord Almighty Bobby Osborne just flat shows out on this Jimmie Rogers classic..
Amazing vocals by Bobby. Rip

Bobby had an insanely crisp sharp voice much like one of his idols..Bill Monroe.
Best version ever.
One of the better versions of this tune. Tight as Dick's hatband.
I love these men ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️they are the best I have heard.
Great music like I remember as kid when bluegrass WAS country music and not the TRASH on the airways today
Beautiful!!
Wonderful! I’m back home in the kitchen with granny and paw for breakfast listening to Moon Mullins on the radio!
Moon mullican
Now I know who the Fendermen were listening to when they decided to record their classic rockabilly version of "Muleskinner Blues"...
This is the kind of song I'd sing to driving down the interstate all day long.
Truly Kentucky music,,,,,and its from the best
Awesome sound

It simply doesn't get any better than Bobby and Sonny Osborne, "period, case closed, 'nuff said!"
We never missed a concert whenever they were near. With the Lewis Family they had the greatest show on earth.
Good GAWD!!
bout as good as it gets !
@fiddlereli I believe you fell and bumped your head. Bill never sang this good even when he was younger.
This song makes me picture a skinny old man in overalls riding a pair of mules tethered together through the hills in Tn.
Mah BOY, mah BOY!!
Salute!
Aw this is how I remember them, in this picture.
Roberts ,and Queen here, Scot and welsh decended from royalty, and I like it,makes my blood boil deep down inside in a real good way

What does the intro sound like? I have only listen to this tune and Bobby Osborne tore it up!!
makes me want to tell the boss I can do anything ...without pay.... hey hey hey
As Steve Earle says, There's no room for vulgarity in bluegrass.
What do you think of that live Dolly Parton version from the Porter Wagoner Show? I think its super sweet. Not like my meat and potatoes Blue Grass, but a nice treat on top, you don't have to do any work. Just don't need the sugar all the time now!
I've said it before, the bros were Punk rock before there was any such thing. Hyden, Kentucky. That's where these cats were from. Deep in Appalachia.
Only 251 Views!!!! WTF 50 of them are mine, this is a hell of a version
I can make any mule listen!
@BOONER31 And I am catching up fast, lol! Love the Osbornes. Just try to keep your foot still! :)
brilliant

never had an interest in music, but now I want to play bluegrass gospel
Since I love The Cramps version this one trumps it because it's older, I see why they decided to cover it!
Awesome
Yeah😊
Classic
wow!
The Led Zeppelin of bluegrass.
Didn't know Ozzy had Rockin distant cousins 🤟 😁
Hot dang it.
♥️
I'd like to skin the 23 mules who voted thumbs down on this song!
