My wife's birthday card (from our daughter) recently took almost 2 weeks to go from one city to another WITHIN the state of Virginia. I could have walked the distance in less time. Fire DeJoy, enough is enough!
Just remember everyone, the mail carriers aren't to blame in most cases. I worked for the USPS as a carrier for a little over a year. It's the most stressful job I've ever had. This time of year, your carrier is likely working 6-7 days a week running 12-16 hour shifts. Making multiple trips to and from the post office because they can't fit all the packages in their vehicle at the start. This is especially true for the rural carriers. The ones that use their own personal vehicle like I had to.
Thank you for your service. I appreciate what all mail carriers and delivery people do for us. I don't think most people actually think about what a difficult job you all have, especially during the holidays. Have a safe holiday and New Year!
I work for the postal service, I can tell you already It's management . That is doing this They are the ones in charge. We had plenty of problems already. I am I am a clerk since I could never drive. i am disability & I know they been giving me problems. Plus not following restrictions. Management is the real problem
Good reporting! I wish the USPS would be more transparent, we have also been waiting 10+ days for packages. It's just stuff, it's not the end of the world for us...but what if it was medical supplies or medicine? I think USPS owes us more transparency.
From the inside as a former mail delivery contractor, I will tell you that the problem is two-fold. Postmaster General DeJoy has decreed that automated equipment, and scanning technology, will replace human workers who formerly sorted the mail in sorting centers and post offices nationwide. This equipment is failing to effectively do the job, not only misrouting mail, but also damaging a lot of it beyond recovery. This includes 1st class mail, not just packages. This problem has nothing to do with a new building location, it is because the technology mandated by DeJoy cannot do the job. The 2nd problem is DeJoy is not allowing local USPS management to hire any temporary help. I'm retired and volunteered to help short-term. They said they are under restriction not to hire temporary help. In my small town, our post office is only open 2-hours a day. One employee moves around to cover 4 post offices in the area for 2-hours in each location. But that employee is not covering any post office right now, and there is no backup personnel available to USPS management to cover for that employee, because the few employees left are all out delivering packages right now, including the POSTMASTER at a 5th class city post office! Imagine how understaffed the USPS is, when the top administrator of a small city post office must forego those duties and assist directly in delivering packages to homes and businesses. Privatizing the mail sevice is NOT the answer. Fixing the USPS revenue business plan is the problem. Postage stamp prices can be lowered to make their purchase and use more affordable, simply by instituting a new fee collected for every online invoice sent out by businesses and every online bill payment sent back by the consumer, which formerly required postage stamp purchases by both sides of the transaction. Banks and credit card companies would collect the transaction fees and send the money to USPS. Payment by cash and check would be exempted from the fee, since the consumer would be paying for a 1st class stamp on their envelope sent out with payment.

Its sitting in the simi trailers out in the parking lot. Call the hub and call them out on it. I'm a UPS supervisor, ik exactly what they're doing, and its against company policy. They're doing it to falsify numbers, management gets a end of the year bonus if peak season pulls perfect numbers.
not true, Postmaster General DeJoy has replaced almost all personnel with automated machines and optical scanners that cannot do the job that humans did. It is misreading addresses and sending packages and letters the wrong way, and sometimes even damages mail so much it can't be delivered. DeJoy also will not allow local Postmasters to hire temporary employees to help with holiday volume. The problem is DeJoy, not USPS in general. (I was a contractor to USPS for decades. Employees I dealt with all those years were not unhappy with their job)
...package delays at Indianapolis wouldn't be so bad...if they would just route packages to the proper destination! There's no excuse for such crappy service ANY DAY OF THE YEAR!
People don’t realize that the post office delivers a lot of UPS and Amazon packages. The UPS delivery most people praise is actually delivered by the postal service.
The pandemic is over so more job options have opened up. I’ve worked at an Amazon warehouse for 3 years. There are far more immigrants here this year. I’m sure it’s hard to find people willing to work all the hours. Everyone is either overqualified or thinks they are too good for this work.
I'm proud of our letter carriers in Oklahoma. No complaints because they work hard to get it out. From my limited knowledge, the post office has been working severely short staffed and the Postmaster General doesn't help with some of his "efficiency" plans.
ordered my package nov 24th and its still not here its went from California to Indianapolis right by my house then it sat for days then they sent it arizone then iowa then Ohio then Indianapolis again then back to ohio now its been back n forth in Indianapolis! 26 days!!!!
Ups supervisor here... Next time you drive past a hub, look at all the simi trailers parked in the far back😬 thats where your packages sit after they're scanned🤷♀️ UPS does it too As long as the numbers on the papers look good they don't care if you get your package on time or not js
People need to stop being fucking lazy and just go to the store instead of ordering shit online, all of this would resolved if everyone just went to the store.
We appreciate ALL the hard work of the DEDICATED Post Office employees; those who work tirelessly to get our mail and packages to us each day. So what has happened that past few years, mail is not being delivered, passports , drivers licenses, medicine, checks and other critical letters and packages, are stuck at some locations, some stolen by USPS employees; mis-delivery and so on? Locally, they are short handed and one carrier cannot handle the mail for the other carrier. Yet the rates are constantly increased but cannot find good backup employees to help with the backlog. Why should it take more than four weeks for a Respirator to come from California on Nov 5 and as of Dec 19, it has not arrived to Maine! Stuck somewhere in Texas for past 18 days, with no tracking movement. Should we have had it sent by boat? Might have been faster. Lives are at stake with these deliveries!! The supervisors , managers and Postal Inspectors can do better. We need better employees, better equipment. Need the service to be as it was in the 1950s.
Minneapolis and St. Paul post office are the worst in my books. This is year round they send packages back and forth to each other and it takes days before we finally get anything. The entire postal system is screwed up!!
I called and was told by the representative that some updates are auto-generated and even though my package shows it was in bloomington and now in transit to next facility for 5 days (which bloomington is the final destination) that my package's last hard scan was upon arrival in Indy and that is where it is... Take it for what it's worth.
ordered something from texas on december 6th, paid for 2 day shipping, shipped out on the 7th and it has been sitting in indianapolis(where i live) for 7 days…
I'm in SE Texas, mailed a box to Australia 16 days ago, it's been in Indiana since Dec 5th 🤬🤬🤬. I'm trying to figure out why sending it 950 miles northeast instead of through thecm western route which is logical was a good idea. I just spent 15 minutes to get through their idiotic phone system, got a rude rep who lied to me (the sms tracking told me the tracking number was no longer valid), she said oh it works I promise. Umm no lady it doesn't, your own system is saying it's no longer working! I'm going to have to file a $300 claim it looks like. $96 for the postage and they f@!k it all up.
Privatization of the USPS is going to be an uphill battle for Trump. He has an easier time to hike all the way up to Mt. Everest than to privatization of the USPS. No sane businessman in the world would want to burn money on the postal service. It’s financial black hole. 😊
It shouldn't be that way though. We when we have a public sector shipping service there's no reason for the government to be neglecting it while shelling out massive payments to privatized shipping companies. FedEx got cut a massive check cut so they could update their fleet with tons of new 767s yet USPS just has to make due with what little clapped out trucks they've got. It makes absolutely no sense. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the free market, but it's pretty hypocritical for corporate folk to constantly complain about workers wanting "hand outs" and then gladly accept them themselves. You're FedEx, you're supposed to be a Fortune 500 company. You built yourself from the ground up right? Act like it. Pay your own bills
@@thelaborpeasant The postal service no longer has contracts with FedEx. The decades of neglect and mismanagement within the postal service is too severe to be saved. The postal service is a loss cause. Even if the postal service was up for grabs no one in the right mind would touch it with a ten foot pole. The postal service has become the black plague. It’s toxic and dangerous for anyone to takeover. It’s too far gone to be salvaged by anyone.

We no longer mail order chickens because the Belfast Maine post office killed 3 boxes or 100 birds.
