I got the quiet oilless compressor with 6l tank and noise level of 59db wich is medium noise - but it's great compared to aquarium air pump wich came with k40. I have no residue on the cutted pieces and it helps with the cutting efficiency. The aquarium pump is good for keeping the lens clean, but it doesn't really help in cutting as it's provides not enought pressure. My compressor is working at around 50l/min @ 2 bars and i can lower the power of the laser as well as increase the cutting speed. But yeah - it's still noisy :) Perhaps using a couple of fridge compressors could do the trick to be silent and efficient.
Hi keep up the good video's , if you want to still use the big compressor you can maby move it to the other room and thru a tube to the k40, of build a box whit foam Padding on the side. I have upgraded my board to SKR 1.3 what you can find for 13 dollars , and then you also can use PWM laser signal. You also can maby try whit the soleniod to have a bypass that have the low pressure of engraving and if you open the soleniod you have the pressure of the bypass and the soleniod. I can email a drawing if you want.
Yes, I had idea to move big compressor in the basement and drill hole through floor. But then, this small one is more practical in this case. Will see what can be done later. I got similar board, but not sure whether is it worth to mess with working controller and replace it with 'the unknown'. The problem with bypassing using solenoid and this small aquarium air compressor is that it loses pressure and thus air flow if there is narrow point as is inside the solenoid. I will rather try with the 'pinching' method in the case of engraving. Anyway, thank you for really good advices. Happy new year!
In theory, yes. I did not tried that. Earlier days, and on small air pump, we used to put diode in series to the 220V line. That result in half of the motion of the membrane due to half period at 50Hz (Europe). So, yeah... there can be switch or relay which can switch between normal operation and half rectified. Just, be careful with that voltages.
thanks for this vid. Just a question now: I have the same compressor and what is the best to cut without burning marks? : velocity or power of the air flow? can you make tests? I don't have a big compressor to compare and make measurements.
Pozdrav Milane.
Love your well-thought-out videos. Thanks Milam.
Happy new year. Thanks for your video content
Thank to you too. Happy new year!

Can you change the voltage to the small air pump to control the air flow..use a relay to switch between high and low air volume flow ??

Oh, forgot... Even 1N4007 diode may be sufficient. Orientation does not matter when put in series with one of the wire going to the pump.

You know what could improve the video of this air compressor in use with k40? Use it with k40! Showing, does lot more than just talking
I know, I talking too much. Sorry.
