You wanna make a living playing other peoples music from half a decade ago? Make your music can do it! Don't be a lazy hack like this clown and devote your life to copying other peoples work. This guy is going nowhere
He's a bad Ass rocker that loves Trower as I do. In the mid 70s I learned so many licks from listening to Trower and and I'm 59 now and people beg me to play it so I still do for the people that suggest it
As a lifelong Trower fan I still love this. Nice voice and he isn't trying to emulate Robin, just honour him - great stuff. As for the comments about poor tone, each to his own I say : )
Thank you for posting this, Paul is one of the most gifted musicians in the world, he has everything, technical proficiency, an amazing sound, a totally rhythmic percussive feel. Warmth, personality, on and on. He is astounding.
Hat's off to Paul Gilbert... amazing job on this!. awesome advice and positive message to: (learn songs) stand up, feel free to express sound visually, feel the music. Paul Gilbert shows respect to his mentors and influences. Now he is a mentor, teacher, influence to a new generation of musicians. again hat's off ~~~~ Cheers
JAMES SCOTT NICHOLSON, 41 YEAR GUITARIST. LOVE WATCHING YOU PLAY, BUT MAN THOSE VOCALS ARE AWESOME, PEOPLE HARDLY NOTICE CAUSE THE SAME TENSION OF A FLAT 7 , THEY ARE WAITING TO HEAR GUITAR RESOLVE. AMAZING SOUNDING VOCALS PAUL.
I love how he announces to "take a big bite of this song" and then munches on his guitar strings later on :D Watching videos of PG always leaves me grinning like a big idiot, because he seems like such a nice and cool guy.
@jgoodman75 And the fact that he loves Robin Trower one of the most talented and under appreciated guitarists of all time.I saw Robin at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee and he was awesome.
genius player, adept at many styles, knows where his place is in the order of things and an incredible musician, Great stuff!...see my video of him playing with Eric Johnson, they all blew me away! cheers and keep rockin those Axes!
i bought the intense 2 guitar lesson tape, years ago, & i took it back to guitar center, because it was to good, & i wanted to get something abite easy'r to play, but guitar center said there's a no return policy, so i went back home and a few days later i put it in mt VCR & plug'd the audio into my stereo aux input & jamed on that tape for 1 hour everyday till i learned the who tape, i'm glad i still have it, 'keep on rockin'
So good you did not give up. You will never play like him but when you pick up the positive attitude he's got it will make you more relaxed and better. There's no funnier shredder in the world
We all have our own opinions as to who is the best guitar player... Paul did a good job on the cover. I must say as to my own opinion.. Trower is my fav guitarist hands down... Since the 70's....That's not to say that I don't enjoy other artists, because I do and I have their albums/cd's. There is a lot of talent out there, it's just a personal choice as to who you think is the greatest!
This dude´s got to be on any guitar players A list. His shredding gets a bit old for me, but his abililty to share and communicate what he knows is second to none compared to most other people of his talent.
i wonder what all the people in the comments, who praise this version, are going to say after hearing, for the first time, trower, dewar and lordan on the 75 live version
he should go up and play with robin trower at crossroads. robin is one of pauls inspirations and they would sound awesome together. they also have a very similar sound. they both use vintage modern and the song radiator sounds like a trower song
NICE! IMO JOHNNY WINTER HAS THE DEFINITIVE VERSION WHICH IS ON UA-cam. CAN ANYONE UPLOAD AN UNKNOWN ROBIN TROWER MASTERPIECE CALLED "SETTLING THE SCORE" OFF THE "BACK IT UP" ALBUM. THANKS.
Lot's of wise words there. Particularly about the importance of making a face during a bend. One really have to listen, otherwise it's just a sequence of notes that comes out.
For those people who are slamming Mr. Gilbert for wearing headphones - he has suffered some serious hearing damage, and quite understandably does not want it to get any worse.
I noticed that Paul plays with his thumb hanging over the neck a lot. Like Hendrix and others. I find it funny that so many world class players use this grip, in spite of so many teachers instructing students its "technically wrong." Really shows it doesn't matter, if it feels good, do it that way.
he's great, but Trower's phrasing is so much tastier....Trower falls behind and gets ahead of the tempo...then lands back on it perfectly...yeeeaaaa...
Paul thanks so much for covering Robin Trower Robins for me, the greatest ❤ 😂 😂
Thanx for the respect for Robin
Being a guitar player myself, watching this guy play is incredibly inspiring.
Rock on Paul!

How cool that PAUL is a ROBIN TROWER fan.
Who isn't?
Paul is a treasure, great demeanor, and a teachers heart.the man can just rip.
He's a bad Ass rocker that loves Trower as I do. In the mid 70s I learned so many licks from listening to Trower and and I'm 59 now and people beg me to play it so I still do for the people that suggest it
👀💥💯 Thanks Paul for playing Memories of my Adolescence! 👏💯😎👌
That was ridiculously excellent!
As a lifelong Trower fan I still love this. Nice voice and he isn't trying to emulate Robin, just honour him - great stuff. As for the comments about poor tone, each to his own I say : )

I absolutely love his tone.
Hat's off to Paul Gilbert... amazing job on this!. awesome advice and positive message to: (learn songs) stand up, feel free to express sound visually, feel the music. Love how he chucks in the Dorian feel.
feel overload for Paul! his musicality speaks
Paul opened a solo set at Gassy Jack's in Cardiff about 30 years ago with Day of the Eagle. I was thrilled!
The awesome, the unbelievable Paul Gilbert: Terminator with a guitar.
JAMES SCOTT NICHOLSON, 41 YEAR GUITARIST. LOVE WATCHING YOU PLAY, BUT MAN THOSE VOCALS ARE AWESOME,
PEOPLE HARDLY NOTICE CAUSE THE SAME TENSION OF A FLAT 7 , THEY ARE WAITING TO HEAR GUITAR RESOLVE.
AMAZING SOUNDING VOCALS PAUL.
Man - 2009, that was so last decade! Rock Me Baby - that's timeless!
Just love his playing and his sense of humour. I'd buy him a beer.
I really like his tone with the single coils!
Uno de los guitarristas más grande del mundo admira a Robin Trower, sin palabras.
I love how he announces to "take a big bite of this song" and then munches on his guitar strings later on :D
Watching videos of PG always leaves me grinning like a big idiot, because he seems like such a nice and cool guy.
Shout out to his band, too. That drummer back there poppin’.
It's sad that some people don't know of Paul and his amazing playing.
or Robin
@jgoodman75 And the fact that he loves Robin Trower one of the most talented and under appreciated guitarists of all time.I saw Robin at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee and he was awesome.
Having seen him live let me assure you it was a great tone in the audience! Some times youtube doesn't sound as good.
genius player, adept at many styles, knows where his place is in the order of things and an incredible musician, Great stuff!...see my video of him playing with Eric Johnson, they all blew me away! cheers and keep rockin those Axes!

My HEro too Paul :-) Robin is so under rated. A very humble man.
How do you define this Simply amazing......................Talent
i bought the intense 2 guitar lesson tape, years ago, & i took it back to guitar center, because it was to good, & i wanted to get something abite easy'r to play, but guitar center said there's a no return policy, so i went back home and a few days later i put it in mt VCR & plug'd the audio into my stereo aux input & jamed on that tape for 1 hour everyday till i learned the who tape,

'keep on rockin'

Paul is awesome! I dig how he just takes these songs and tears them "the Fuck up"!!!
Superb , two of my favorite axe men
Well the preamble was magnificent and well put..
Great post - thanks.

hahah always puts a smile on my face to see Paul play :D
Man that was great !!

the best of the best, keep on P.G
i wonder what all the people in the comments, who praise this version, are going to say after hearing, for the first time, trower, dewar and lordan on the 75 live version
Robin Trower live in Sweden 1975!!!! ( You Tube) best version but bad quality ( fan of Trower)
That Trower Sweden 1975 performance is some of the best blues rock guitar ever played/recorded
Truly amazing
Nice! Great mix!
he should go up and play with robin trower at crossroads. robin is one of pauls inspirations and they would sound awesome together. they also have a very similar sound. they both use vintage modern and the song radiator sounds like a trower song
GRACIAS PAUL POR TANTA MAGIA (L) GENIO TOTAL DEL MUNDO
Es todo un virtuoso Paul Gilbert desde alcatraz a mr Big
we love you paul you are the best :D
NICE! IMO JOHNNY WINTER HAS THE DEFINITIVE VERSION WHICH IS ON UA-cam. CAN ANYONE UPLOAD AN UNKNOWN ROBIN TROWER MASTERPIECE CALLED "SETTLING THE SCORE" OFF THE "BACK IT UP" ALBUM. THANKS.
Incredible
It's not how many notes you know, It's what you do with the notes you know!!!
Lot's of wise words there. Particularly about the importance of making a face during a bend. One really have to listen, otherwise it's just a sequence of notes that comes out.
The best version is indeed from Robin Trower (my opiniun) but the quality is bad because i'ts live it was somewhere in 1970
Nice job!
Yeah! tearin' t up!
For those people who are slamming Mr. Gilbert for wearing headphones - he has suffered some serious hearing damage, and quite understandably does not want it to get any worse.
@5:52 that lead is high horsepower as it gets.
Check out Jimi Hendrix version at the Monterey Pop Festival !!!
1967
Phenomenal.
Yeah nice guitar jam !!!
you got that right bro
fantastic
My hero.
I noticed that Paul plays with his thumb hanging over the neck a lot. Like Hendrix and others. I find it funny that so many world class players use this grip, in spite of so many teachers instructing students its "technically wrong." Really shows it doesn't matter, if it feels good, do it that way.
@809Metallica
No. BB King covered it. The original was written by Muddy Waters.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's by Waters.
pretty respectable blues there Paul, better than most blues players
WOW i always thought Paul Gilbert was a pointless shredder but hes got a lovely bluesy style.
Anybody know what the guitar is hes using - sounds ace!!
mark anstey It's his signature Ibanez. I think its called a "Fireman".
mark anstey yeah upside down iceman with a cut out for access...lol....
Ibanez Iceman - Ace Frehly guitar.
appreciate it
WOW....WHAT SPEED.......
Loves me some Trower
Nice job !you tore this tune up and if u had a strat u would be dangerous
Paul has the best attitude
Does anybody know what effects he's using for this? It doesn't sound like an over drive or a distortion, but more like a fuzz box.
I wish I could find a backing track for this song.
Bad ass 🎸🎸
This video should be entitled "Feelin' It," 'cause Paul certainly was. Sheesh.
he's great, but Trower's phrasing is so much tastier....Trower falls behind and gets ahead of the tempo...then lands back on it perfectly...yeeeaaaa...
Is there a slight fuzz tone happening here? It's sounds like a fuzz with some compression. Very good tone from a very cool guy a great player :)
Toca muito, mas Robin Trower é Único!
Where's the feeling? I can't seem to see, hear, or find it at all!
@BrianWu1 i think he meant "in the style of"
@flyingsquirrel73 LOL..I realized after I posted..that he had done G3!..my bad- thanks man!
He's a monster!
People on here spend way too much God damn time arguing on UA-cam and not watching and appreciating the video.
It's rock me baby alright, and it's good. Real good in fact.
But it ain't Trowers version.
Not even close.
Go listen and you'll know
This guy is crazy talented. Kind of sad this only has 9k views. People are too busy listening to Lady GaGa...
Gilbert is so good it just makes you sick.
Try listening to Guthrie Govan and not get annoyed at how someone can be that good.
He definitely should be invited to the next Crossroad festival, if he hasn't yet.
