Love it. Backing it. Just as an FYI, you might have missed this, but you can illuminate the tables and even some (all) of the wall-mounted lights by placing tea lights behind/under them. So while it doesn't come with lights, it is made for and meant for illumination if you choose.
Hey Lawrence. Yes I got that info from the live stream which prompted my thoughts to wanting the lights already included. I know it takes a lot of pre-fab and wiring to make that happen, plus a lot of photographers and videographers would want to control the dimmer so they can control how much light is coming into the lens, but for the mainstream collector, it would have been a very nice edition.
I am going to have to build a coffe table type platform for the main display, but I think I will have them taken apart and resting on separate shelves since I know I will use it mostly for toy photography
I have the same issue at the moment. I don't have any space for it. Right now I have the 1990s cardboard version in display with the Jabba's Palace on a shelf. I had gotten the Jabba's Palace (billed as Boba Fett's Palace but will have Jabba there instead) and I can replace it on the shelf, but for the cantina not sure if it will fit on the shelf. However, I am planning on doing some photography with some of these displays I have.
I understand that the original Elstree shooting set had no band area, but with Hasbro having released an army builder pack of all 7 modal nodes it's absurd that there's nowhere to comfortably display them.
I really liked this. I have so much use for it myself not only for photography but one day (very soon) I am planning to have a house not only with my music Stuido but my Star Wars room with all my dioramas and collections in one separate room. This would be perfect for the section I am planning for the Tatooine Display. I just backed the Deluxe set myself. I remember back when they did the Jabba's Sail Barge for about the same price. I wish I had gotten that at the time because the second market prices are extremely high. I am hoping that one day that I will own that one myself but for now I am glad I backed this one. I figured that I deserved it and it is a reward for myself as a loved Star Wars fan. Not to motion I really love your video and explanation of it. I really am glad you are here on UA-cam because as a collector I really do appreciate your input and feedback.
Thanks Jedi! I’m glad you are enjoying the channel 🙌🏼. I think your uses and mine are similar and I’m looking forward to seeing out other collectors will display and use this.
Thanks for this comprehensive review! I'm leaning toward a deluxe backing but I'm still slightly on the fence. I'd probably be persuaded by the inclusion of a floor of some kind, and something like a bandstand for the cantina band. Lighting inside the tables, even with a simple LED and swappable watch battery packs, would really convince me to get this. As others have pointed out, almost all of this is 3D-printable, but on the other hand, that also means I have to sand, prime, paint, and assemble myself, which means I'd be spending more than $500 anyway, including my time, so it seems worth it. I'd probably add some weathering to it on my own. How modular is the entryway piece? When they pulled it away in the video it looked like all one giant chunk, but I'd probably want to be able to swap that around to be "front-facing" for display. Not sure how I can put this on a shelf and be able to even see the entryway or outside facade at all if it's attached. Horizontally, it looks like it would be ok, but then the entrance would face the back of the shelf.
This looks great, but I wouldn't back this and I typically don't collect modern. You pretty much touched on everything I was going to say. :) haha I'm interested in it more for photography/film and displaying vintage figures in there also. I love that those pieces can be pulled out just enough to get a camera in those spaces. I'm excited that they finally made the Tonnika sisters in the bartender does look great. The only one I have is from the Commtech series from 1999. I think they should have made a Greedo with a blast shot in his chest. Thanks for the video
I know some collectors who will buy two just to have one carded and one to open. I will gladly sell my carded figures as I really only want the playset
This should have LEDs in all the alcoves for this price. The whole thing looks like it could be 3D printed. This is more expensive than the massive LEGO Cantina and you get more stuff.
We need a play set depicting the Yavin base where they are surrounding the big round monitor, with the lite up screen behind them, and they’re viewing the battle, and maybe even have the screen where they viewed the Death Star plans. Good time to make figures who haven’t been made, such as Commander Willard.
I'm in the same boat as you. The ONLY reason why this would be for me is for my use of it for video and photography with my vintage figures. I may sell the carded action figures to TCV collectors (even though I do collect TVC, just certain characters).
No floor no lights no fun ......... If they can give us a repro technodrome for 80 bucks ...then they could gives us alot more for the crazy ass price tag ... Another toy company kicking us fans in the face agine !!!!
The lights was a big thing for me. It would be interesting to talk to anybody at Kenner off the record and see if that was ever a discussion in the development talks. Maybe they will surprise us
Way overpriced and there are fan made items being made that cover this with more of a Kenner feel and cheaper. It does have a lot of detail and looks nice for modern collectors.
Yes to lights!! Feels weird that they would talk about mods at this price point. Maybe they’ll rethink that and add table lighting for deluxe at least?! Excited for Cantina still, mainly for figs but probably would have preferred Sandcrawler.
That’s good to know the conversation rate for this. I understand that price would be an issue. I was the same with the ghost and rancor. But I did back the ghost.
The play set looks excellent, especially the fact that it is modular. Nice details but very clean for a cantina that is supposed to be on a sandy planet, so if I get one there will be a lot of weathering. The price is not bad for a set like that and the exclusive figures that come with it. But my friend as you see, the only way for Hasbro to sell any sets these days is to do something from the Original trilogy. In Cyprus, where I live, you can only get some Star Wars VC figures and Lego here and there, NO Hasbro play sets or any other items because there is no market for it
That’s really good insight my friend. I knew of a lot of collectors asking for this and were happy that they got this, another camp wanted a few playsets made for ESB, so the original trilogy was def on top of the list.
This does look cool, but I do agree with the sentiment that it would be nice if it had some electronics in it. I do admire some of the modern items they are producing even though I don't really collect all that much of it, and you bring up some good points in regards to display options. If I did get this, not sure I could bring myself to take the included figures off their cards, so I might just sell those to help offset the cost. Then I would just fill this out with figures from other eras or even different toy lines and just have fun with it, though admittedly, it is an expensive display piece. So something I will have to consider over the next few weeks.
Where do you put the Band? Also, why can’t all the figures be ones that haven’t been made before. This is my beef with Kenner/Hasbro. They continue to make the same characters a thousand times.
I hope they do an update that addresses the band. I know they made the playset after the actual blueprints which didn’t have the band area, so most collectors are using an outcove for the band
being a canadian collector, means that this haslab item will be even more expensive for me(up to 50% more) due to exchange rates..I just don't know if I can afford it at that level. If I do, I won't be bidding unless it gets to 17, 000 backers because I'd want all 6 figures.
I have heard of some collectors doing this: they have a USA friend buy it for them (who live close by hopefully). They ship it to them. Sometimes it’s financially sound to do that, sometimes it just saves Pennys and not worth the hassle
Big mood here. I'm in Japan and for some reason they aren't even offering shipping here at all? I'm already paying like 50-60% more with this exchange rate.
It is worth it for me. Been waiting for this for 40 years. Is the price too high? Of course, but it will also end up being worth more in the future than the 400-500 price tag right now. I wish it had a few more things, but overall I will take it.
Good way of explaining it. I think for me, the use cases will have me tinkering with this set almost every week in my shoots so it won’t just be left in box or on a shelf and worth. So I understand if people don’t see the need
I think it is cool but I am not backing. I got rid of all my modern stuff. You were very influential in me deciding to make that move and only focus on Kenner vintage stuff.
Yea I don’t know if you saw one of my video in the beginning of my vintage collection run, but I sold 90% of my modern figures. I think even for this, I want to keep the cantina playset for me, and sell or give away the action figures
Uncertain if it I will be able to get it from NZ as we can't use Hasbro Pulse. It huge and I have no place to display it but I am leaning towards getting one, if I can, then worry about what to do with it afterwards.
Wasn't an area in the movie for them. They shot the band scenes in LA seperate from the London set and used one of the normal alcoves. So they never actually had a stage. Hasbro took the actual Cantina layout that was filmed and used that for the basis. There is a missing area on the other side of the bar with the 2 arches on the left and right. It would have 2 more smaller alcoves and a back door in the right side one.
It's nice to see the greeblies behind the bar later repurposed as IG88s head. It looks nice, but it's too big and too expensive for my tastes.I'll settle for the Lego version. Why do we have to have 'site specific' figures for all these things? Surely one Episode IIV Han Solo should work in all situations where he's just wearing his 'pirate uniform'? I miss when toys and playsets were just toys and playsets; however nice or detailed these things are, they lack the simple charm of a well designed toy. 🤔
I know price will be a big issue for a lot of peeps. I think the Haslab’s are meant for playsets and items that will be over 300+ because they are the items that wouldn’t sell in stores but are those dream projects that a limited number of “super collectors” would gravitate towards. It’s a real gamble and I’m sure they have reached out to super collectors to get their feedback before they create. I’m assuming that how the leaks and visuals get out. Who knows.

Overpriced and lacking in a few areas but good outweighs bad and I’m well in for the deluxe version. I’ve been 3.75 for 45 years now and this is why - world building!
If Hasbro would allow Lego to sell individual minifigures they'd be able to earn a passive income into the millions and put that into these new projects instead of relying on the people to crowd fund them.
@@thepadawancollectorofficial Lego has done series of figures for Harry Potter, Marvel and DC but they aren't allowed to do SW because of Hasbro. One figure costs 5$ but if they were to increase it to 6$ then that extra dollar could go to Hasbro. SW is also the 2nd most popular theme within Lego so they would have no problems in getting them sold world wide.
Those figures on secondary market would be at least $100 each I do think $500 is high, but it's incredibly modular and you'll never be able to buy something as good again
@@yunoyuluvit And it's that exact sort of mentality that's hurting 3.75 Star Wars today. Absolutely no reason to call someone names for backing something they're passionate about. Hey Don! I get where you are coming from. I think it’s all relative. People don’t understand why I spend thousands of dollars on one action figure, but when I break down the history and nostalgia aspect of why I am in this hobby, they at least have a better understanding.. even though they would never justify the costs for something they have no interest in.
@@thepadawancollectorofficialno one really wanted another Rancor BUT so many have wanted a detailed cantina forever - especially us OT collectors that have been playing with the toys as kids in 78
The seating areas should be fully enclosed. Instead, they have exposed framing which makes it look incomplete. The lack of any electronic features such as lighting or sound also seems like a cut corner.

Garbage and lazy af. Lego cantina kills this. Everything shot from “eye level” looks ok but no floor or roof. No one gonna do fly bys. Hasbro could have released an open edition 6inch with all the aliens to collect and it would have absolutely killed it across the globe.
Why scale for the 3.75 line? The more popular size now is the 6 inch? I know it would make the item bigger but so what. All my figures are the 6 inchers.

I didn’t know that was a thing. I’ll have to look that up. Thanks for watching Sam!
No, it isn't worth it. Anyone that backs this is a complete mug. $500 for a diorama set and a few figures!?
What the hell did you just call me?
@@80sCave If you backed it, a complete mug.
Those figures on secondary market would be at least $100 each
I do think $500 is
high, but it's incredibly modular and you'll never be able to buy something as good again
I felt the same way about the rancor, so I understand where you are coming from
@@yunoyuluvit And it's that exact sort of mentality that's hurting 3.75 Star Wars today. Absolutely no reason to call someone names for backing something they're passionate about. I didn't care for the Razor Crest or Ghost, but I understood that many people do. Just because it's not for you doesn't make it stupid or useless.
No - even if they did ship to Australia it’s not a must have for me….now if it was something from ESB……..lol
What would you like them to make from ESB!?!? I think I can guess but I don’t want to presume
@@thepadawancollectorofficial id be happy with and echo base - could include a super detailed command centre, medical centre, and part of a hangar - anything modular cloud city could be cool too - landing platform, foyer, dining room, junkyard, torture chamber, freezing platform
@@thepadawancollectorofficial Star Destroyer bridge! :D
I don't collect modern SW, but those figures look really good - especially the bartender, and the one with four arms. The rest (the cantina), imo, is junk. And no, I won't be backing this.
I felt the same way about the rancor, so I understand where u are coming from
Nahhh. I'll pass.
I felt the same way about the rancor, so I understand
Stupid expensive price
Hey Don! I get where you are coming from. I think it’s all relative. People don’t understand why I spend thousands of dollars on one action figure, but when I break down the history and nostalgia aspect of why I am in this hobby, they at least have a better understanding.. even though they would never justify the costs for something they have no interest in.
I get it. I love OLD star wars . But won't buy it in protest. But understands who would. Cheers@@thepadawancollectorofficial
Looks incomplete. They cut as many corners as they could to cut cost in construction. It’s not worth what they’re asking for it.
Not worth the cost. Next time do a Star Wars Star Destroyer command deck playset.
Where did they “cut corners” please would love to hear
I felt the same way about the rancor, so I understand where you are coming from
@@thepadawancollectorofficialno one really wanted another Rancor BUT so many have wanted a detailed cantina forever - especially us OT collectors that have been playing with the toys as kids in 78
The seating areas should be fully enclosed. Instead, they have exposed framing which makes it look incomplete. The lack of any electronic features such as lighting or sound also seems like a cut corner.
SW fans love spend their money on simple tricks and nonsense...
But every person who backs this should remember this quote, "who's more foolish the fool, or the fool who follows it😂😂😂😂
People love what they love, and the beauty is in choice. Thanks for your comment my friend

lo Should have charged way more. The fact collectors are dumb enough to pay these prices just astounds me.
I understand where you are coming from. There are a lot of people who don’t understand why I collect vintage toys, but when I break down the history and nostalgia that I get from this hobby, then they at least understand, even if they don’t think it’s worthwhile
@@thepadawancollectorofficial I understand collecting vintage and spending some coin but not paying these prices for something new. This is $200 tops. It just has sucker written all over it.
Garbage and lazy af. Lego cantina kills this. Everything shot from “eye level” looks ok but no floor or roof. No one gonna do fly bys. Hasbro could have released an open edition 6inch with all the aliens to collect and it would have absolutely killed it across the globe.
I’ll have to look at the Lego Cantina!
Why scale for the 3.75 line? The more popular size now is the 6 inch? I know it would make the item bigger but so what. All my figures are the 6 inchers.
Four times the plastic and four times the price. Who would have the money, let alone the space for that?
