    I recently found out that on some maps on the evacuate valuable assets mission, you can get in and out of the base by climbing down a rock on the western side, which allows you to flank the bugs and redirect them from attacking the generators. It‘s a really cool and cinematic way to do the mission, maybe you‘ll give it a try

    Interesting idea to have one person take a mech instead of a support weapon, and then someone else drops one for them after the cooldown/first mech use. My Team always struggles to clear the Meganest vs bugs in a timely manner, but I'll have to try that next time.
    Also, cool to see you still hammering a way at this. I remember we used to play A:FE from time to time.

    • @EchoLoss-sw1ce

      Mech is very powerful for the mega nest, it can tank a lot of impaler hits which is huge, you can wade in and close the holes pretty safely as long as titans are kept off you. The problem is how frequently impalers will launch you off the map. In this map we put 4 walking barrages across it first which I think was the bigger difference maker. Most stuff was clear before we even went in.

    • @reaverred2821
      @reaverred2821 13 днів тому +5

      @@EchoLoss-sw1ce Yep, impalers hiding behind hordes/around corners are what create a problem for us. Aside from OPS, everything feels very inconsistent at one shotting them, and sometimes even finding them them is an issue.
      I like the Walking Barrage for bots because I feel like it gets a lot of use at various points in the map, whereas for bugs I feel it's less impactful aside from the Meganest. I may just need to try it for a few games to see the impact it makes, but it seems like a big opportunity cost.

      Sup Reaver, long time! Just haven't got tired of the game yet, but I'm one to keep trying new ways to play. Lvl 10 was a difference maker too, think we pretty much had 9 figured all out, 10 still pushes us hard.
      For Impalers in the wild, it helps to keep an eye on the bug breach as that's almost always where they spawn, Impaler patrols are pretty rare. Mega Nest is the tricky one tho as they can be tucked away, which is where the Walking Barrage opener and Mechs come in clutch.

      @@reaverred2821 Yup totally agree, we're basically using two stratagem slots specifically for the mega nest. It is OK-ish for breaches but not amazing and it can also be effective at shrieker nests as well but other things can do it better. The mega nests are where a lot of deaths happen so I think it's alright skewing the overall build towards it a bit. 380mm could be an option as well, maybe slightly worse for the mega nest but slightly better for breaches, worth trying.

    Nice! running with my favorite bug loadout. Though I often go with heavy armor from the same set for a bit more ragdoll survivability. Quick swapping with the Eruptor so you can hip fire twice as fast and in turn chew through distant clumps of bugs while saving machine gun ammo would help you out a fair bit. But you're already a menace though so whatever lol

    • @newspiked7385
      @newspiked7385  13 днів тому +2

      Yeah, I do enjoy the hotswapping with the Eruptor. I've seen some players do some really fast kills on Impalers with just an Eruptor and a GP, like 1-2-1 and they're dead. Swapping with the MG isn't quite as powerful a combo but still cool in a pinch!

    • @Dragkna7-yg4fh

      @@newspiked7385 I find it isn't bad just swapping with the machine pistol or machine gun to hit the odd bug right next to you without slowing damage to a clump further away, but generally I'm just swapping to increase the Eruptor's fire rate without firing the swapped weapon. I also think the Eruptor is the worst weapon in the game to empty the clip on, really have to reload one shot early.

    I'm a lil worried bout the game though. Lvl10 was supposed to be really hard. Your crew is doing a perfect round already. I for my part just stroll around with randoms but even that usually doesnt pose a problem. If everyone knows whats up it just works out.

      I love the divide in this community. You have the crybabies that complain that the game is IMPOSSIBLE right now and that all weapons should get a 100% buff in all their stats for the game to be PLAYABLE (Most of them haven't touched the game in weeks and only heard about "nerfs" from drama merchants and the shithole that is the main subreddit)
      Then on the completely opposite end of the spectrum you have people like you who are complaining that the game might have become too easy even in difficulty 10.
      I kinda feel for Arrowhead, how the hell are they supposed to please both ends of the spectrum ?

    • @hagenjager1952

      @@Akabeche you got a point there. Im with arrowhead though back in the day when they said helldive is supposed to be hard and If u cant do it theres skill issues. Hell yeah! Hang in there, try out stuff, learn from failures and catch up on channels like spikeds to learn about stuff that matters.
      My last hope is ppl who want to down heavies with their primary switch over to space marine or something. The gameplay ive seen didnt compete with the tension and situational chaos that hd2 creates. But I dont want to judge a book by its cover, games are meant to be played after all :D

    • @newspiked7385
      @newspiked7385  13 днів тому +3

      I'm fairly certain AH will add more difficulties down the line, but I guess they have to give the player skill level time to catch up too. If the upcoming rebalances make Chargers and BTs easier, that gives them a good reason to come up with higher difficulties with tougher spawns too.
      I'd also say - it's not like we get perfect rounds every game, even with an experienced team it's a rarity, though I guess we're setting the bar high by going for the deathless in the first place. Some of the difficulty also does seem to feel a little luck-based too - Impaler one-shots are still pretty common and can end the deathless run. Tweaks to the visual tell would help a lot there. Once those more random causes of deaths are worked out, I think there's room for them to up the difficulty more without feeling unfair.

    • @newspiked7385
      @newspiked7385  13 днів тому +3

      @@Akabeche Ideally, the difficulty levels are what would let them satisfy players on both ends of the scale. I do wonder though, I do feel it is one of the strengths of this game that enemies across all the difficulties are almost all identical, it's simply the spawnrates, enemy compositions, and number of objectives that changes in the mission; but that also means if players refuse to adjust to specific tactics required for certain enemies e.g. use a combo of hard AT strats and support weapons to take on heavily-armoured enemies, it's hard to offer them a "turn off your brain, just fire your primary" difficulty mode without spawning barely any heavies altogether, which players then find boring.
      Maybe an easy-mode version of a Charger with weaker armour would satisfy those players while letting high-difficulty players still enjoy being rewarded for picking specific AT strats to deal with those threats, but the flipside is it just slows down the learning process for players moving up the ranks.
      We'll see how AH's changes affect difficulty across the board. I think in theory there is a sweet spot they can find that offers more ways of dealing with Bug Heavies without trivialising them or making hard AT choices obsolete, so fingers crossed.

    Spiked, how do you feel about the upcoming balance changes? Im worried theyre going to make it too easy and every weapon will work against everything, instead of being complementary to other loadouts. A few minor balance changes could be nice, but it seems like AH is listening to the worst (most toxic) part of the community

    • @newspiked7385
      @newspiked7385  13 днів тому +1

      That's been the worry for a lot of us too, but even with all the changes teased by Pilestedt, I think there's a way they can broaden the options for anti-Chargers and BTs without cheapening them or making the hard AT picks obsolete.
      So re: the AP4 weapons like the AC and AMR, it sounds like they will now be able to strip Charger armour. As long as they ensure that this new method of taking on Chargers is slower than both the pure AT's kills on Chargers/Behemoths, and also the existing matador kills on Chargers/Behemoths, it will simply be a sidegrade option rather than a do it all - if you have the skills, you should still go for the riskier but faster ass kill, and if you've invested in pure AT, you'll be rewarded with a faster / easier kill on Chargers. e.g.:
      - Chargers become one-shot any non-glancing bodyshot for the EATS/RR/Quasar - but we hardly see these anyway on lvl 10, so it's not too much of a drop in difficulty. Spear becomes a reliable one-shot anywhere as well, which kinda makes sense for the ammo investment as well.
      - Behemoths become one-headshot for EATS/RR/ Quasar - easier than the current one-legshot + finisher with your other gun, but at least you still have to aim. Spear could remain as is, requiring a lined up headshot.
      - All the AP4 weapons then get the old legshot + finisher method, and hopefully they can fine tune the leg armour so it does take quite a few shots to de-armour them, especially for the Behemoths.
      Yes, the overall difficulty level of Chargers is reduced a little, but you've made all the ATs more reliable than their current jankiness with Behemoth legs, you still keep a hierarchy within the ATs and between the ATs and the Generalists too, and with that increased reliability / reduced player frustration, you can increase the number of Charger variants at high difficulties with it still feeling fair.
      More broadly speaking, I think some kind of rebalance was needed because the 650 damage ATs are being overshadowed by the AT strats like OPS, Airstrikes, 500kgs for reasons of reliability alone, not just burst damage. Behemoths right now should be a tricky but very doable legshot strip then finish, but the falloff bug/oversight means you have to do the jank walking forwards, and even then it can fail at long distance. The 2-shot then is just really not worth the investment given how much quicker and easier it is just to throw down a strike.
      Likewise with the Titan kills - the RR 2 x headshot kill on a BT is pretty tricky but would be very rewarding if it was at all reliable - instead the hitbox issues mean I'm having to work harder when a simple OPS / 500kg would do the job even faster and more reliably. It's also a little illogical that for a BT that's been brought to very low HP with an OPS / 500kg / Railcannon Strike for example, you can finish it off with a Grenade Pistol if the belly hasn't been popped yet, but if the Belly has already been popped and there's no exposed armour, you're forced to wait for your AT to become available again.
      Opening up the BTs to low AP kills on the underbelly might actually be fine then as long as trying to kill the BT with no AT at all would still take much longer than just using AT - it just opens up low AP options as reliable finishers if your proper AT hasn't killed the BT already.
      Ultimately, we'll just have to wait and see how AH execute these changes - I feel they've made a lot of positive changes so far though, even things that I was unsure about at first e.g. the reduction of BT spawns from max difficulty, which meant the 500kg with its 2-BT kill potential was not such a must-pick. So I'll be cautious optimistic that they know what they're doing!

      @@newspiked7385 Great points. You should consult for AH, lol. To me a lot of the issues were caused by jank. If AT's reliably stripped behemoth leg armor (without needing to walk forward), if bile titan head hitboxes were consistent, the weapon complaints would go down.
      But those additional changes you mentioned seem fair as well. We shall see indeed
