Ep. 58: Interview with Malcolm Guite (Part 1)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- Malcolm Guite is a man of many facets. He is a poet with a deep appreciation for the classical form and higher realms of language. Equal parts songwriter, author, ordained priest in the Church of England, avid reader and academic, Malcolm brings these beautiful colors into one of the most fascinating conversations I have had on my podcast.
Malcolm and I cover a wide range of topics with one of the highlights of this first installment being a reading he does from The Fellowship of the Ring. The longer I spoke to Malcolm, the more I saw in him the affability of Bilbo Baggins, and the wisdom and percipience of Gandalf. I hope all who listen will enjoy this chat as much as I did.
--PART 2 will be released on Monday February 26, 2024 on all podcast platforms (and on UA-cam a week or so later). Be sure to follow or subscribe wherever you catch podcasts to get notification when it's released.

I’m so glad you have interviewed this man. We need more of him! Our world needs this man’s energy & wisdom ❤ This is like listening to the many rare Tolkien interviews.
@Makkaru112 very well said. He is someone whom I could to listen to all day. Part 2 of my interview with him is available on all the podcast platforms. I'll put up a UA-cam version within a week or so. Thank you for watching.
@@journeytothestage I’d love to interview this man too one day. Or even the big Tolkien UA-cam channels could interview him. Maybe even NerdOfTheRings since he recently interviews John Rhys Davies once or twice recently as well as even interviewed many other WETA team and inner circle of PJ himself ❤️ so NOFTR would have more of a shot since he’s already been interviewing this high profile people lately.
Mr Guite has recently appeared on my UA-cam homepage and I can’t get enough of this man! Thank you for this interview it was exactly what I wanted to hear
I'm so glad you listened! I could not agree more; Malcolm is a genuine delight. Part 2 of this interview has been released on all podcast platforms. I'll have a YT version up within the week I believe.
Please get part 2 out as soon as possible. We never know what could happen that could stop a part 2 from ever happening. ❤ this guy is a treasure ❤
I am aiming for tonight. It's edited I just need to upload etc.
@@journeytothestage thank goodness. I’d love if you guys got to talk more often about this stuff. PLEASE don’t let the swaths of his life experiences and stories slip through your fingers. This is guy is a blessing.
I’d love if you guys got to talk more often about this stuff(not just in the part 2). PLEASE don’t let the swaths of his life experiences and stories slip through your fingers. This is guy is a blessing.
I love this man. He's such a big inspiration and influence to me
I second your sentiments.
That's a very cool churchwarden pipe he's lighting up! Yes, I'm a pipe smoker!😅
I have just discovered your podcast via UA-cam having been a fan of Malcolm Guite's for a few years now. He once kindly gave me an hour of his time (and a CD of his folk music) in his room in Girton College, Cambridge when one of my daughters was a student there. He is such a generous man and I think that this is such a good interview. A great credit to you.
I'm so glad you found my podcast. I have many more episodes on the podcast platforms than I do here on YT. I appreciate your kind words.
Just fantastic, found you and subbed in, looking forward to listening, Malcolm is true gentleman. Also looking forward to checking out your other conversations 😊
Malcom rocks ‼️
What an interesting choice to use Enya’s Lothlórien for that reading ❤
@Makkaru112 it turned out to be the perfect fit. It's long been a favorite piece by Enya but I wasn't sure if anyone would pick up on it. Good ear and connecting!
@@journeytothestage there are some awesome arrangements of Lothlórien on Spotify that bring it to life even more with super unique ancient instruments.
Arete! Excellent. Gracias.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Lovely video

Does he believe in God because he's had such a good life
I've never known anyone whose life has been untouched by hardship. If by "he's had such a good life," you mean his life has been without pain and difficulty, I personally wouldn't assume that. But it's not something I asked him about.
