Watching in 2020. These old episodes are actually really good! Very entertaining
The first Golgo 13 movie starred Ken Takakura and is called "Golgo 13" (creative, I know). As far as I know, it's not available in the US.
The Mighty Mugg is a one of a kind custom that I acquired. :) It's well made and comes with an M-16.
Back then, that was so badass. Imagine, I was 8 years old, playing Mario.......then BAM !!! in the face. My father was playing with it more than I did. Drawing maps and shit. WE HAD TO DRAW DAMN MAPS FOR THE MAZES !!! Brought me back nice memories, thanks for the vid.
I found this game for $1 at a Pawn Shop. I'm stoked to finally play it. Your video inspired me to part with a George Washington Pat. This game better be worth it.

I remember reading about this game back in 1988 when I got the very first issue of Nintendo Power in the mail, just like you did. I wish I still had that issue
I am aware that I am commenting on a video that is almost 5 years, but I just want to say: Pat, your videos kept my highly entertained and I am always looking forward for the next gem you upload.

It's great to see a reviewer that doesn't use a stupid voice or some other cheap gimmick or affectation to try to make his review stand out. Your gimmicks take some effort, thought, and planning, so kudos for that! This is a really fun, difficult game that doesn't feel like it's being unfairly difficult and you did it justice. This is a tough game to recommend to people who just want some quick, fun games for their emulators, so you did the best thing you could-- give a rundown of it.
I'll work on my Japanese assassin pronunciation skills just for you.
This is my favorite review you've done. You really got a knack for this stuff. I'd heard of Golgo 13 before, and saw it a lot in old game stores real cheap. This video finally convinced me to buy it.
Just a thought, but it'd be cool if you did a review for the other Golgo 13 game on NES, The Mafat Conspiracy.

The part where you were the engager, the lady must be the one to suggest it, a gentleman always lets the lady choose.
even golgo theme song for first few seconds sound like it could be ripping from bond, but that's smart anyway.

Interesting trivia: Golgo's name comes from the 13th Apostle who betrayed Jesus to die on Golgatha. While I admire the badass balls to name yourself after the killer of Jesus Christ, it was Judas the 12th Apostle who betrayed him. But somehow, "Golgo 12" doesn't sound as cool.

Actually, that's incorrect. If you find the pack of cigarettes, you can smoke them to gain health. Having sex gains you health as well. I noticed you mentioned it later in the review.
This is a very entertaining video. I wish I didn't pass up buying this game last week.
Kick to the nards always drains massive amounts of health. Just ask Johnny Cage, he has done extensive research on this.

Great review, really. Got acouple of questions since you seem to know more about golgo13 then i do. I know about one live movie starring sonny chiba, its golgo13 assignment kowloon, do you know what the other live movie is called?

I had this game, but I traded for street fighter the road warrior for super nes at the time. Damn I wish knew more about Japanese anime at the time. Thanks Pat for making feel like a jack ass but for now I'm going enjoy street fighter and cry at the same time. But good video that game kicked ass though. Spent a lot time figuring out out how too snipe that dude in the head in the second part in the game.
You needed Quaaludes after doing the maze in Rio? You even use nostalgic drug references, they haven't manufactured 'ludes in over 20 years... =P
I think I had this when I was 10 or so. I thought it was insanely hard, but I doubt I followed the plot or any of that. All I wanted to see was the sniping scene and the sex scene.
This game looks almost like a cross between Sly Spy and like you said Rolling Thunder...

Damn it, I passed on this game as a kid cause I was turned off by the legs of the sprites, but this game sounds awsome. just wonder how Nintendo of America let so much slide by.
wow, what a badass game. no i'm being genuine, i tried this on an emulator b4 (for like 5 mins) and i didnt like it at all... now that i know how badass it is, i wanna give it another shot :)

Download the unedited version (japanese version) of this game as a ROM along with an emulator. The sex scene is more graphic (woman takes off clothes in the bedroom scene). Also, all the hitler and nazi parts of the plot as well. Now play that version and then think back how incredible this game was before it's time.

OMG, I'm a super Golgo's fan, but I knew nothing about this game! WHAT A SHAME...
The MAZES are a rip off of Akalabeth or Ultima 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 I mean geez, sure you couldn't shoot in them, in the later ones but you could in Akalabeth, Ultima 1 and 2, and even Wizardry had Mazes just as cool. I mean jeesh, revolutionary my arse!
