Wall Street Kid is a video game released by SOFEL for the NES. It was originally released in Japan as The Money Game II: Kabutochou no Kiseki (ザ・マネーゲームII「兜町の奇跡」?, "The Money Game 2: The Miracle of Kabutochou"), which was the sequel to The Money Game.
The story line from the two versions are different but the layout and the scheme of the office are almost exactly the same. Only cosmetic changes were made to make it relevant with the North American audiences. Both of these games expect the player to exercise his avatar and go out on dates.
The player must prove himself worthy by taking $500,000 in seed money in order to gain a six-hundred-billion-dollar inheritance from the extremely wealthy Benedict family. Successfully investing it in the American stock market results in rewards like going shopping on the weekend and being able to acquire expensive items such as a house. The player is also encouraged to spoil his girlfriend. The game terminates if the player is unable to raise the money needed for a key item such as a boat or the house, causing the stockbroker to be disowned by the family. - Ігри
Wall Street Kid is basically a real-life simulator. I never saw the appeal, as someone who views video games as a form of escapism. If I want to work 9-5, trade stocks, and buy needless and lavish crap for someone who isn't me... I don't need a video game to do that.
Love the suit, Pat. And any episode with a musical number is A-OK in my book.
Thanks for making this dreary weekend a bit brighter-- hope you're enjoying Too Many Games!
This is the Sims with no bathroom and no peeing blue puddles on the floor (do the Sims drink blue kool-aid? I'd see a doctor if I peed blue)
I honestly didn't expect to see pat in the suit with the glasses, although I should have from a mile away. he played it so straight with the "I'm not gonna do that" that I believed him. The result of it sliding back to him in costume was a hardy laugh that sent the cat running for cover. I also terrified my roommate.
Definitely one of your best episodes. I, unlike many do not mind that there's long time periods between each episode. If this is the quality of the content you're producing. Take as much time as you need.
"She probably gassed poor fido in the back" Dark as hell. Wow. Love it, Pat.
I actually got pretty addicted to this game for a while when I first installed a NES emulator on my PSP back in the day. Neat game!
I used to do that too. I also got addicted to playing Wall Street Kid...
I actually had a lot of fun with this one as a kid. It's a bit odd, but honestly not a bad game and is at least marginally educational.
but ill bet when you were 9yrs old im sure you rather play contra or something else .lol
This is the best vid I have seen on this channel this year! Please continue with what got you where you are. Can't wait to see more of The Punk's reviews!
I cant imagine spending this much time playing this game, let alone doing a video review of it. Kudos to you!!
I actually really like this game and have played through it a few times.
If I remember correctly the old Apple II's weighed approximately 14,366 lbs. That was a lot of work for a 2 second bit.
Great review as always
0:10 I want that Magic Knight Rayearth for the SEGA Saturn you got there. Since you say it's wasted money. XD
LMAO "It better have a solid gold barometer!"
Pat is high as fuck in this video look at his eyes haha
"And then there's Yapple, who uses child labor to make desk top barometers."
Ok Pat, good one.
I paused the video to checkout the headlines on the newspaper, spent twenty minutes reading about lost films, and completely forgot that I was watching this video.
I have to return some video tapes..
Do you like Huey Lewis and the News?
DrLeatherface It even has... a watermark.
+Master Gamer DuctTales...
+Kyle Hartle Combobreaker.
It's cranberry juice, cran apple...
I remember when Snatcher was a $80 game. *sigh*
LOL, that ending! Good job as usual, Pat!
Its great to see the "Punk" back. Good work Mr. Contri.
Here's a true story Pat. There used to be a Video Game store called "Play N' Trade" where my local "Winn Dixie" resides, I saw this game on the NES section and was intrigued by the cover art. Sometime later, I got to play this game on an emulator and man was I bored to shit.
As a child I played this game for months when it came out! One of my favorite games on the NES.
Lol, great way to start a Saturday morning.
You shoulda invested in BOING, Pat. I hear they tend to...bounce back from adversity.
Get it?
GET IT?
.....
***** Corner. Now.
***** that was great
***** Well, it's also the only way to trap the Dark Judges, so..yeah.
+Gambit Wilson What, exactly, did I misspell?
That bit with the suit was the funniest thing I have seen in so long. Really surprised me lol.
0:26
Pat's reaction when he invests in Shares of Nintendo's stock.
I have a feeling that the next Pat the NES Punk video will be about Hot Slots
larry the lawyer is the spitting image of kevin oleary on "shark tank" lol
I remember playing this for the first time, back several years ago, a couple minutes in.. I powered down the system, and popped in Monopoly. Great work Pat! Keep it up!
Wall Street dude jumping out the window.
Made me giggle.
Thank you Pat! Please bring back the punk regularly!
No Pat, that house is in Vancouver, and it was a steal.
Have only seen a few of your episodes. Will watch more but I feel this one is really good xD
Ahh, Wall Street Kid and my love of sim/business/tycoon games was born...
this is one of the most addictive games for nes probably the most underrated, very fun to play and see how your stocks do daily!!
From the moment I hear your Paperboy intro music, I know it's gonna be a great video :) And anytime a "Classic" Mac shows up is a real "Plus" 6:04
Larry looks like Mr. Wonderful from "Shark Tank". XD
"Towels? I love towels!!"
This is my brother's favorite game ever. I remember renting an NES once just to play the game...
wow, i never thought the steel in town would end up in an video game review lol. Well played lol
I'm so glad you are still making the review shows, they brighten up my day! I can't believe a game is like that however...man and I thought Bubsy 3D was bad! At least it doesn't feature the stock market.
Glad to see a new episode, keep the good work, Pat!
Pat's Green/White Ranger T-shirt ROCKS!!!
Niiice I just saw this at the pat panel at too many games ...Awesome panel Pat!!
I had Dragon Fighter on the NES another game developed by Sofel, and it was awesome. I played it so much back then that I memorized the enemy patterns and went through the game like a breeze, that's until stage 5 I never got past it and the game had 6 stages
My friends dad had a barometer on his coffee table. It was how adults distracted themselves before apps. I LOVE TOWELS!
Nice to see you back with a new episode
Ned fills the dark void that Rob once filled. I think we need more Ned.
OH, and the Punk is back! Welcome back! :P
Loved the Trotsky reference!
Haha! I live near Bethlehem (my grandfather worked for Bethlehem Steel), and American Depress is the best description of Sands Casino I've heard.
I ONLY JUST REALISED THIS WAS A NEW PAT THE NES PUNK EPISODE
YEAH
I feel like you should number these. ;P
That's some nice 8bit gaming right there. Love the videos can't wait for the next flee market vid.
I love that Bear I hope to see him in other reviews!! I Thank you Pat your videos always make me Laugh....
This is the pat stuff that hooked me in to begin with, love it! Not like I don't listen to the podcasts but I'd much rather check out the retro reviews.... the Alisia Dragoon one, well you know haha! Keep it up man!
Nice. "Say, you heard about that St.Valentine's Day Massacre?" Timeless horror of the mob. ;D
I knew the suit and sunglasses were coming after they didn't :D
Thanks Pat, we missed the punk.
HAHA, I work in the Sands Casino in the old Bethlehem Steel buildings!!
This was an awesome surprise to come home to, awesome video, Pat! :) .
It's too bad there isn't a video game rehab, eh?
Thanks for the slice of PA history
I love this game
This is great. Thanks for making my morning Pat.
YES PAT FINALLY
Wall Street dude looks too happy after he'd been told his uncle just died. 😂
Best Pat the nes punk review I think.
Dark part about the little song he did at 10:00.. When the stock market crashed for the first time, there were stock brokers that jumped from their whatever story windows to their deaths by means of suicide.
I loved this game when I was a kid.
Ned the bear needs to be more on show. He's hilarious XD
Oh my god Pat, that tie. lmao.
"It better have a solid gold barometer" made me lol
For some reason I played this alot when I was a kid.
"I have a disease" Oh is it that one that makes your hair grow in six dimensions? That explains a lot.
What a great start to a busy day. This episode was so hilarious, I loved it!
Lol I was addicted to this damn game for the longest and I was shitty at getting anywhere so eventually led to cheat codes to beat the game.. Took the challenge out of it but got to see the ending!
If Contra, Outrun and Super Mario Bros captured the style, look and feel of the 80s then this game captures the self-centered greed-fueled corporate reality lurking in the background,
XD Well, good to see the Punk that started this channel finally return. Also, LOL reviewing THIS game. Even your friend, the FUCKING Nerd (lol) didn't want to play this for very long. Also, this time the Punk as a character seems less afraid of more "crude" humor, which is interesting and yet still keeps the feel of the Punk being more upbeat. Also, where did you get Retro-Bear from and when?
Btw, I'm sure anyone in Wall Street would say not to learn about the stocks from this NES game. Otherwise, they'd probs use this game as a teaching tool if it was ANY bit authentic. Connie seems like the top of office-goddess you'd see in various comedies involving office work boring its workers. So yeah, good to see the Punk himself finally got some new material.
That tie is awesome!
I'm going to Bethlehem, PA for business in a couple of weeks. Maybe I'll check out the Casino. Probably not.
For some reason when I was a kid I liked this game
I can't seem to get enough for the mansion. I'm going nuts!
Pat's wisdom on getting married is bang on.
Holy crap I used to play this one way too much. Awesome one Pat!
That brought back some memories. Thank you!
Very entertaining thanks Pat.
These 'real life' NES games are awesome!
I was waiting for your character to return some video tapes and then start chasing people with a chain saw while only wearing tennis shoes.
I have to give it to you 1:51 was seriously funny.
Such a great episode Pat! Little Samson was an awesome game but expensive now adays you should totally review it!
One of your best Pat!
Best video series on UA-cam!
The Nes Punk is BACK!!!!! Very nice bro!!!
I ain't sayin she's a gold digger
but all she can have is my broke nickel...
...yeah, I know the original version :P
NiXxY but she's a gold digger.
She aint messing with no broke ni- broke ni-...
But she ain't messin' with no TurboGrafx-16
I freaking love this game!
This was insanely funny dude. Nicely done.
10/10 for the super 80's tie pat
that is a awesome necktie you got on with the grey suit. Where did you find that one?
9:42 I sing that everytime I play this now.
With the hair Pat, instead of getting a girlfriend, you could dye in blonde and be a Priscilla? You'd be the one driving the $50,000 Ferrari and living in a castle instead of dying in an office with pastel green walls in 1989
Wow was that the falling scream from Dark Forces for PC at :28??
Solid gold barometer, I laughed.
what is the intro 8 bit music .its racking my 35 year old brain.. It's so familiar... I can't sleep.. It's killing me
Paper Boy NES
Pat the video game virgin is forever how I am going to reference you. Lmao that was great.
Ya know, the Best Friends gave you a little shout out recently in one of the Mystery Box videos. Matt called you "Nice Pat." That's awesome!
Anyway, I like the podcast stuff, but I really like your reviews the most. Also, this game is an underrated gem that seem boring as fuck on the surface but it can be pretty engaging once you get into it. It just sickens me that everyone in this game is a shallow greedy piece of shit. I would have liked to see it take some kind of arc in which Wall Street Kid dumps his girlfriend, sells everything he owns, moves into a run down shit house in the toxic waste part of town, and starts an underground boxing club.
exiledPostman See, these types of games are golden; if a developer just picked up the IP, they could totally make a multiple ending-each choice you make has a consequence type of game. They made plenty of tycoon games that sold *shrug*
