EK Quantum Kinetic FLT 240 reservoir testing with EK-G2 D5 PWM pump. (UPDATED)

Previously 2 different brand D5 Vario pumps, OCOOL Vpp655t & an XSPC D5 Vario, were grinding on the housing of the reservoir but after switching those pumps out for the EK-G2 D5 pump there is no more grinding and the pump top spins freely.
According to EK support's email back to me about this problem, they did not confirm this reservoir works with all D5 pumps, but they stated it works with their D5 pumps.
Many websites state the EK- Quantum Kinetic FLT 240 D5/DDC Body states this is compatible with all D5 pumps.
Here is EKWB support's exact response:
Our EK- Quantum Kinetic FLT 240 D5/DDC Body D-RGB - Plexi is compatible with the D5 pump, but unfortunately, we don't have any information on how it works or if it is compatible with other (not EK) D5 pumps. You can try with our D5 pump - www.ekwb.com/s....

Glad to hear it! Maybe I did get a reservoir that was out of spec, the ones I tried did nothing but grind.

Mine grinds right out of the box with the pre mounted G2 pump. Only at start up and under 50%. I’ve messaged EK and sent them a video still no response. I’ve ordered a Aqua Computer D5 NEXT pump to see if it fits with the screen and what not.

Did it fit? I have a d5 next and am considering this res not not sure of the clearance between the screen and the mount and if the pump will work.

Thank you for the video! I am actually trying to decide which D5 pump to get for this exact same reservoir. Seems like there is only one choice after all :D
Although it should fit all the D5 pumps, since they all have the same size... Only the ALPHACOOL VPP755 has different dimensions.
Maybe the reservoir itself is defective?
Did you mount all the pumps with the same o-ring?

Yes, all pumps were mounted with the included O-ring. It's a very simple design. I thought at first the reservoir was defective and started a return but after EKWB support stated it only works with EKWB pumps I tried it out. I"m guessing they made the specifications in house with their D5 pumps and didn't spend too much time thinking about other brand variations. When I measured the two previous pumps I tried, the OCOOL one was 1/8" taller than the XSPC one. I never measured those against the G-2 pump but I can do that this week and update here.
I"m glad you found the video helpful! There isn't much out there yet, that I found, on these reservoirs so I was hoping it might help.

@@sixer9682 Strange. EK writes in the description simply D5:
EK-Quantum Kinetic FLT 240 D5/DDC Body D-RGB are pumpless stand-alone versions of the recently released Kinetic FLT combo units. This means the customer can attach his already owned DDC or D5 pump allowing for a more affordable upgrade process.

No, I don't hear this at all in my system. It was that loud because it was vibrating on the workbench.
