  • Here's a station ID (voiceover by ??) and opening of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom on WGN Channel 9. The episode was "Shark Pack of Enewetak".
Also includes the ending of a PSA for CPR Training from the American Red Cross at the beginning.
This aired on local Chicago TV on Saturday, November 11th 1978 at 7pm.
About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:
The Museum of Classic Chicago Television's primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s and early 80s, primarily) recorded off of any and all Chicago TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical purposes. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to DVD, and to view more of the 4,700+ (and counting) video clips available for viewing in our online archive, please visit us at:

Loved this show as a child in the 1970s! Sunday evenings, first Wild Kingdom then The Wonderful World Of Disney after it! Good times, watched with my older brothers and sometimes my parents. Especially good when we got to watch both while eating our choice of TV Dinner on TV tray tables. The old style TV Dinners, that came in aluminum trays and were heated in the the oven, before microwave ovens were in every home. My brothers and I pretended we were in the military when we ate them! Mostly though on Sundays it was Mom or Grandma's delicious home cooking. My brothers and I took turns helping out and cooking dinner weeknights to assist our working parents and later single Mom. But on Sundays Mom loved to cook a more traditional set down meal for her family. Roast Beef, Roast Chicken or Roast Pork usually.

I liked when the sharks got curious and came in a bit closer. One of the divers would hit it in the nose with a "bang stick" and an explosive charge would blow its snout off sending the shark spiraling to the bottom of the ocean. No, no scenes of animals being killed by *OTHER* animals lol.

In a related story, there was a putative expert on TV in the 50s and 60s, Dr. Paul Popenoe, who had a couple of shows, on which, he promoted marital counseling and other things. He also was not a "Doctor" of any sort. he was a eugenicist though.. lol
