From the review, dosen't sound like a good product, probably would just benefit from a weighted shift knob, constantly slamming gears makes driving difficult imo

You may have to trim the plastic on the cage housing. Check the cables with the center console off while shifting. They might be touching the plastic. Also, taller heavier knob helps the feel. Like the Mishimoto.

I'll check out the Mishimoto's and other similar heavier knobs.
Not sure if the cables are touching the plastic cage housing, will have to check that out next time.

Or just cut and tap the shaft?

For track you want gear shifter to be as high as possible not opposite.
