    This and the rear shifter cable bushings were one of the best mods I have done next to the turbo. I see a lot of folks putting in big long shifter knobs, Why? That big long shifter in front of my stereo would drive me crazy. The short shifter feels so much more sporty. Very quickly and easily row up through the gears as well.

      Randy Whatley - Totally agree. Love the quick throw when rolling through the gears.

    For people to know, this shift mechanism is Exactly the same as it is on Toyota Celica T20. Just installed the same kit on my T20 today and it feels better but the shifter feels a bit rough somewhy.
    Great guide, enjoyed it!

      I know what you mean, it's so sticky that it doesn't want to go back to neutral. It's quite concerning. You have to really push it back from in-gear to the neutral zone.

    Hey man great video, one doubt, I have an '05 6 speed manual transmission MK3, will the short shifter form ebay work? The white structure and shift design is exactly the same I think the only variance is the steps thru the transmission cables.

      Sounds like it should work. It is cheap so not a big commitment to try it. I really like the short throw.

      Now that I can actually drive the Spyder I can tell you I like the short shift. It is provides super short throws for quick shifts.

    Just used this video as a walkthrough yesterday. The shifting mechanism is way stiffer. I wonder if doing the rear shift links help this?

      You lost some leverage so make sure the ball is well greased and then check the linkage in the back. They get rusty. I changed mine to the bearings and it is very good.

      You need to watch this, which highlights the issue and solution to that ua-cam.com/video/DL4Low3milU/v-deo.html

    Any advice for handbrake/emergency brake that doesn't actually stop Mr2 from rolling? I tried tightening the nut but still having issues. Thanks!

      I have the same problem. Have you found anything to solve the problem with the ebrake?

    • @5cvang
      @5cvang 5 років тому

      @@TheDerekjosue he actually has a short video on quick fix but if it doesn't resolve he posted another video where he actually replaced entire brake line. This is where I may end up but I've had people tell me to add washers before tightening the nut on the ebrake. Haven't tried it yet bc I'd rather have a permanent fix rather than temporarily.
