Matter, energy and science fiction

I would hesitate to make a real UA-cam video on this. But it could be appropriate for a ‘short’. I left out the 'matter' side of it with pure intention. I think most physicists would agree that someday the current model will be overthrown. I look through what I know about physics and see nothing that has any indication of a conversion of matter to energy or vice vera.
The idea came from a scene in an old Star Trek episode. A stranger is in the teleporter bay in the Enterprise. He asks the operator: “What is this? How does it work? “ The operator looks confused and then says, “We have figured out how to convert matter to energy”. The Hunger Games scenario is computer generation of physical objects etc.
