Last time i used news paper my snakes started arguments with me
This comment needs more appreciation
Was it a judgmental shoe lace?
Long man Jenkins found the damn sports section! Always take out the sports section, fuckin traitor shoe laces.
This comment has made me laugh a lot 🤣
This will come in handy for a temporary set up until my babies grow into their adult terrarium
Great video! I’m bringing home a pretty corn morph tomorrow. I appreciate this video!
5 years later.. how’d it go?! I have a corn too and was looking at this option!
Great video straight to the point. No back story or hour long explanation like other channels you earned my subscription man I’m gonna subscribe 🤟🏽🤟🏽
I have a royal python in a plastic tub I have some twiggs in there and she loves climbing on them she seems very happy with her enclosure
It’s more recommended to put the sensor bit for the thermostat inside the enclosure above the heat pad but under the substrate so that way you can get a reading of the temperature inside the enclosure
BossMan Gameplays until your substrate moves and the snake isn’t on top so the heat map heats up even more.
Absolutely NOT. If the snake burrows and moves the probe it will get cooked.
You use a heat gun to get the temp inside the enclosure. Ignore the temperature on the thermostat, just adjust it until the inside temp is correct
@@ohiohouston3560 if you put the probe in between the mat and the tub your readings are going to be off. That's why you secure the probe on the inside so it can't be moved.
Drill from the inside stops sharp edges... also use heat prof tape
Great Video!! Thanks for adding all of the things in the description it was very helpful!
Love DIY. Well done.
Love this video, really helped my set up.
A ball python probably needs more clutter in the cage such as leaves and all that, but otherwise it's great
this was super helpful thank you so much :))
Won’t the heat burn their under part
No, that's what the thermostat is for. Because all reptiles are cold blooded, they need a source of heat to help digest food and metabolize. For the majority of snakes, the heat pad is necessary because of belly heat rather than a lamp. If the thermostat were unregulated, then yes the snake could easily burn and the plastic could melt, also causing potential fires and the heatpad itself to melt and malfunction even further. Usually the tempurstures needed for snakes range from 85 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit depending on the species (for ball pythons it's usually 88 to 90), however without the thermostat the heat mats easily reach 130.
Nice video. I'm having a real struggle choosing the right size of accesories for a juvenile ball python i ordered. I ended up with almost no space left in a 20qt tub.
Lol Same, I ordered way too much stuff. I have accessories in all shapes & sizes.
They love lots of clutter
Newspaper is a great substrate! I only use the funnies because it calms them. Whatever you do , DO NOT give them the sports section.
Thats awesome hahaahahahha.
Thank you great info.🐍
Yo more people should use this video all of this adds up to about $45-50 and most of this shit u can get a Walmart
Very useful video thank you !
I have that exact container it isnt rly good cuz the ridges on the bottom block the heat from the heat pad
IDIOT that's why you tape it to the container smh
Tanks bro!!!
Great video, thanks for sharing.
I was just concerned about the heat pad on the plastic container. It says on the heat pad box to only use with glass, not on wood or plastic.
I guess however the thermostat will make sure that the pad doesn’t get too hot and burn
What size is recommended for baby corn snake?please help
28qt should ba good they move around a lot but they grow fast so you'll have to up grade to 41qt soon
@@franciscoandrade9180 ty cause I'm thinking about getting one to
Thanks for this! Getting a tub ready for a hatchling baby ball python. planning on doing this! Question, Can an adult stay in a larger rubber bin its whole life? if so at what age do you think the snake will need a larger tub?
Wont the plastic melt from the heatpad?
A lot of them come with legs to prop the tub up, and the temp shouldn't get hot enough to melt the tub, depending on the plastic. If it does melt, it's likely wayy too hot for most snakes.
It doesn't I have this for my ball python and it doesn't melt.
Chris Kwag the melting point of plastic is I believe around 200 degrees f
Can’t you use paper towels for garter snakes?
Yes
The probe should go inside the tub, preferably under the substrate/paper towel/newspaper inside the hot hide.
Could I use this with a milk snake?
He did say with all hatching so try
You don’t worry about air circulation for your heat pad?
Chasing Shua you can buy spacers at Walmart or sometimes it comes with spacers
Spacers or not the heat is trapped but that’s your setup, all owners do it different.
Basically you could do this for any ball python right?
Virginia Asbury yea just hatchlings but morphs doesn’t do anything to the snake.
What. Adout the water dish.
What creates humidity
Heat may evaporate some of the water from the heat dish and the substrate (he didn't use) keeps the humidity
Great!!! Does the thermostat lower the temperature at night? Or is that not necessary???
How old is the ballpython in your video?
How does the heat pad - not melt the plastic????
yes yes thankyou
How big of a drill bit did you use?
I just got my first ball python it is a pastel ball young hatchling. And I wanted to use a bin but cat a heat pad melt plastic?
It can but if you use a heat mat it wont do much if you get a good tub it wont do anything, but a thin cheap plastic tub might warp it but not melt it
you should be using a thermostat with heat tap or heat pads. you plug the heat source into the thermostat and then plug the thermostat into the wall. The thermostat will allow you to set the desired temp and it will keep it regulated. also there needs to be a small gap between the heat source and bottom of the enclosure. ball pythons need around a 90 degree hot spot and no that is not hot enough to melt anything plastic.
No it won't melt it will melt if it gets up to 200 degrees and ur snake will definitely be dead
Do these thermostats use a lot of electricity ?
yeah but can we use a large one becase they can breth more on the other side
yes
Can you use this for a stimsons python?
They need substrate to burrow. They need more things to climb in.. this is sad :(
This is gonna be news for u the hides are like the burrows. They have constant temps and climbing is just for enrichment they don’t need climbing space and if it wants to climb then it has the hides to climb on
But can the snake breath if its super closed 🤔😂
yes
I ordered my jump start thermostat from Walmart.com and it was like $18 or $19
Does it still work? You got a ball python?
Thank youhaha
What size is recommended for an adult ball?
fuck yo couch I’d say get a 30-40 gallon
Depending on the size of your ball, a good rule of thumb is to ensure that they have enough room to stretch out fully along one side of the enclosure.
I've seen a bunch of people saying that the length of 2 sides added together shouldnt be smaller than the snake
41qt is good for an adult ball python
If it shock you it’s probably trying to tell you to stop taping it down 🤔
but that the point of foil tape
won’t the heat pad melt the plastic tub bottom?
Ava Singor no
Mo
Ummm NO
What?
Same music as chef John from foodwishes.com
Eho
Defiantly do not set the prob to the heat matt
You are supposed to use Aspen for ball pythons actually bc ball pythons originate from Indonesia where they stay in termite nests and they don't need as much humidity as you think bc to much humidity causes scale rot (not hate just a little facts) love ur channel
You have no idea what you are talking about... Ball pythons are located in Ghana and some countries around there. Indonesia isn’t even close to where ball pythons are located. What you just said made you sound idiotic, not even close to facts.
Ryan Barnhardt you sound very hypocritical considering pythons originate from South East Asia...Indonesia is in Southeast Asia..lmao
Ball Pythons originate from central and western Africa LOL
Actually most pet stores recommend eco earth it is much better than aspen because it is much spfter
I would use coconut or something that is natural (Thats not Aspen)
Does this work on a corn snake
yes
