Excellent looking rain tree and hopefully they take well from cuttings.
I like Tom's idea about wood glue as a sealer. Might give that a go myself

Thanks so much... The wood glue worked well, and to think I had that all along...
When I tackle that tree again it will be to repot, and check to see if I was successful with the roots grasping the rock...

Wood glue is excellent for sealing. Dries clear. Lasted the whole winter here on my tree that a limb broke off. Time now for you to get dry and rest. Nice job pruning. Yup! Time. Flies by like you would not believe.

I forgot the lipstick 🤣🤣, but the wood glue was there so I'm gonna make use of it... In time I will create a masterpiece 🎉🎉

Your thought process on pruning this tree and die back, easy to follow.

I am glad you are trying to do the cuttings to see if you can root them.

I planted a few...younger cuttings to see if that makes a difference

I wonder if you can soak the cuttings in water for 24 hours and then try to root? Maybe you can do that on a couple cuttings. Lay them flat and covered under water so that they get fully hydrated. Just a thought.

I tried the water thing...but I tried with larger cuttings.... I'll try them with the younger cuttings... I want to master this process 😄

Those are thorns and a half on this tree.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 the older the thorns get the longer and harder they become... They can go through your shoe sole like butter
