      It's laser timed with hyperspeed cameras. They show it down to tiny little milliseconds, the rule is that it comes down to whoever's torso crosses the line first.

      @ndgarcia7583 Next track meet you're at, just watch the guys/gals working at the timer tent, they examine every finish frame for frame. These times aren't just guesses, especially considering how they come down to milliseconds on a pretty regular basis. If you look at the World Athletics, USATF, AtCan, or any national/ world governing body of athletics' rule books, it will contain rules to confirm that. Any official track meet is required to use these systems.
