I don't know how the heck you got 10 "dislikes" on this vid. This was THE MOST informative DIY video I think I've ever seen bud. Very nice, keep up the GREAT WORK!
This is the way a "how to" video is done. Great work. Just a quick note, I do mine without dropping my factory skid plate. No problem at all, as long as you don't mind a little extra oil on your garage floor.
This is definitely the best vid for these procedures. The camera work showed everything you could want to see. The video also benefitted from the very clear dialogue of the instruction. Finally, the overall organization of the presentation was well thought out as the video went smoothly from start to finish. I also liked the idea of removing the skid plate. This allows for a better inspection of the vitals of vehicle while the maintenance is being performed. Hoping to buy one of these today.
Hey man great video! Straight and to the point. Im changing the oil in the wifes P1000-5 for the first time instead of the dealer doing it. You did a good job of explaining in detail. Ive been subscribed to you for a while. Keep up the cool vids!
Great video, got a 1000-6 and getting ready to do the 100mile oil change. Should I get my valve inspected and adjusted? Seems to be starting and running well.
My 2017 has 1150 miles and no problems except when the dealer installed the Cabin comfort Improvement kit, they broke a wire which caused my paddle shifters to not work. I called honda to complain and they said sorry and take it back to dealer. Ended of fixing myself by tracing wire and crimping. They must have pulled to hard on wire harness when installing rubber heat blocker in front of dash.
I just bought my oil from the dealer. The sales rep said Honda preferred Conventional for the 1000 because of the DCT clutches requiring a slight friction.
Thank you for the video. I made an error while distracted. I poured 1 qt of engine oil in the dipstick hole. Did I do any harm? I intended to put that quart under the seat into the sub transmission but again, I wasn't paying attention. I know I need to drain a quart out as I now have 7.1 quarts in the engine reservoir. I have not started the machine since I made that error. Just want to know if there is anything else I need to do besides drain a quart out of the engine reservoir.
I would just drain the extra oil out and ensure it is at the correct level before starting the engine. Don't forget to add oil to the sub transmission before starting.
Question for you, could you cut a hole in the skid plate for the drain bolts to make it where you don’t have to take the skid plate off for an oil change?
FoMoCowboy yeah Im not sure, the Factory UTV skid plate is one he’s been running that he said he took off to change the oil. I was just wondering if you had to to change the oil or if it’s just easier.
FoMoCowboy hey I appreciate the video and the pointers, I was more curious about the ‘Factory UTV’ aftermarket 1/2” skid plate since that’s what I just got for my pioneer and if it truly got in the way when changing the oil since it covers so much more of the machines undercarriage
I ordered a kit that came with 8qts, dct filter and engine oil filter with both o rings and crush washer but I didnt get a crush washer for the sub transmission. Any idea of a part number or if they are different from the others? Thanks1

Completely agreee!!
Overall this is the best DIY oil change I've seen for the 1000.

Very helpful video. Made the service I'm doing a breeze. Thank you for the very in depth oil change walk through.

You nailed it dude!!!! Quality of video is also amazing.

Just ordered the same skid plate. I was wondering if it needed to come off for an oil change. Thanks for this!
Good job. You do good work.
First like. Also I am at 80mi on my Honda. Looking forward to getting this DIY done

🏆🏆🏆👍🙏
Thank you for sharing.
Good video. Watched one before this that said to use 6.8 quarts for engine and that the DCT was the subtransmission??

So the transmission oil is the same type as the engine oil? Thx for the video btw
Thanks
Hi enjoy all the info on the honda , i just recently purchased one and was wondering what your take is
on synthetic oil for honda?
I just bought my oil from the dealer. The sales rep said Honda preferred Conventional for the 1000 because of the DCT clutches requiring a slight friction.
Honda makes a synthetic oil for motorcycles, atvs and utvs.
What is the oil change kit you ordered with all three crush washers and complete kit for sub transmission?

After how many miles should I do the second oil change?
Does Mobil 1 make a lubricant that will work for the P1K5 ?
Yep it's a messy oil change!
Does the P 500/520 have a sub transmission? Nothing about it in the manual
Hey I gave a question the engine oil is the same to the transmission???
Question for you, could you cut a hole in the skid plate for the drain bolts to make it where you don’t have to take the skid plate off for an oil change?

@RON BLACIC I don't remove my skid plate and I don't get drips on the floor. Just got to do a little rag work cleanup after draining the oil.
I ordered a kit that came with 8qts, dct filter and engine oil filter with both o rings and crush washer but I didnt get a crush washer for the sub transmission. Any idea of a part number or if they are different from the others? Thanks1
You really don't need a new one, but if it puts your mind at ease...get one at your dealer.
I just got a Honda Pioneer 2017 and service 2 signal came out can somebody explain to me which one is that one please thanks
Great video, but it seems like Honda made it a lot more difficult than others to service. Not sure I want a Pioneer after watching this video.
I have a Honda 1000-5 and a Ranger 900XP at the farm and I hate changing the Rangers oil.
Where did you get the plate around your shift knob, Park, Neutral, High, Low
I purchased it on the Honda Sxs forum. a link is in the description.
Does the sub transmission take a different oil than the engine or is it the same weight of oil
It is the same
Where do you find the crush washer and o ring kits I can’t find them
I got mine from the dealer.
I have my 1000 now do you know how to adjust the shifter mine is very sticky
No I have not done that yet, sorry
What size Honda is this ???????
Does the sub transmission and engine use the same oil?
Yes the same oil but different compartments.
What is the difference between hp transmission oil & regular motor oil for the transmission
Can you tell me where you buy your oil change kit
I order most everything form Amazon, just make sure the kit comes with the new o-rings
@@DirtNDiesel thanks for your help
Wheres the dct oil u put in
It is combined with the main oil tank
Please send me info for the skid plate. Thanks
I run a Factory UTV 1/2" skid plate, I prefer the 3 piece design.
www.factoryutv.net
6.1 quarts????????
Oops just read the comments I know now it’s a 1000
Most people aren’t going to take off the skid plate. We want a video that shows us a factory oil change with a factory skid plate!
