During the first months of his presidency, Trump repeated-multiple times-“No one in my campaign met w/ Russia.” Not only was Trump lying, he was blatantly covering up 70 contacts and 22 meetings between the Trump campaign and Russian linked operatives. The Mueller Report said that there was collusion on the part of Russia in the 2016 election....and that trump obstructed justice on 10 occasions....but the DOJ could not indict a sitting president....not that he trump wasn't guilty but that the DOJ of could not charge him. Early in his presidency, Trump stood in the middle of the Oval office, provided top secret intel to the Russians and bragged about firing Comey all in front of RUSSIAN ONLY media. Trump’s supporters didn’t find this disturbing. James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence for 7 years is said Donald Trump is only in power because another country illegally installed him. This really was the biggest story in the history of the United States until January 6th.

Given its greater economic and, increasingly, military power in recent years, and given recent events in Afghanistan and Ukraine, it’s not at all surprising that they are showing signs of being more aggressive in pressing their claim. You seem to think appeasing them is going to make that less likely.
