- Numerous times over the years, I have had requests for troubleshooting dead bands on shortwave receivers. I finally had some spare time to put something together. This testing method can be applied to the Hallicrafters S-40B and others. If you need assistance with your receiver, contact me.
The bottom of the receiver looks great with the new caps. King Kobbler must have corn-gratulated you.
I Love these types of videos! Thanks for sharing your knowledge Terry!
Excellent Terry, something easily overlooked and gives insight to poor sensitivity on different bands.
Great info video wow learned something new so happy thanks a billion 73s Mike
Thanks Terry for showing this testing tip!
It is very much appreciated, please.
Thanks D-Lab. Videos from you like this one inspired me to get my Ham licenses a few years ago. Now I know what you're talking about(mostly) when I watch these videos.
Great stuff! I could have used this advice about 15 years ago on a Hallicrafters S-108 that had a dead band. As it was, I couldn't find it, had no idea how to approach such a problem, and I sold it with that problem noted. This may be a dumb question, but I'm guessing the A2 to GND link on the antenna strip has to be in place to test bands 3 & 4?
Thanks for all the tips!
Sounds really good!
