  • Long time coming. Have you ever wanted to use your Hallicrafters S-40B receiver with a transmitter? Well, problem is, they did not install that option on this radio! So, D-lab decided to make it happen. My new K1S module will provide this function for the Hallicrafters and many other models. It is fully configurable. Can be powered by 6.3vac, balanced or referenced to chassis ground. This module is half the price of my normal PTT modules. So, it is very economical to add to your old radio. Yes, I know, I'm about 50 years late. This is my love. These old radios need to rule the airwaves! If you want one of these modules. Contact me, give me the make & model. These are cool little boards, easy to install. Makes operating your old tube rigs fun again!

Neat. I can see a lot of these being sold! Lord knows there's a lot of S-40's out there and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

    Nice upgrade, as usual!
I noticed at [1:50] when you're talking about the unused lug on the terminal board, that the leads on the yellow cap (end terminal) and resistor (formerly unused terminal) are rather close together. I can't tell how close, if it's the camera viewing angle or not, but that looks like it deserves a second look.
Keep up the good work, Terry!

Thanks for the video. I have the Hallicrafters S-40B. I don't think I'll use it with a transmitter, but I enjoyed the video.

Every hallicrafters S-40 that I have had, the 6.8 ohm resistor on the filament lead has increased in value, giving lower filament to the 6H6 detector tube. Please check it with tube removed.
Larry Gerard. I specialize in hallicrafters repair, I have loads of the receivers that I have restored electrically.

Very interesting, but I would only be receiving if I was to go beyond standard am/fm broadcast bands. The noise is so bad where i live that I would have to only listen from 00:00 to 06:00. The noise emanates from outside the house since I've already had the main breakers off and the noise persists. The electric utility doesn't care about us old peasants! I think that the problem is the "contractor" at the end of the street. I hear a lot of brushed motor noise and possibly arc welder noise.
